Rx is clearly the place you will find the best overall group of cappers.
I see other sites that thrive on making tons of conversation in their main section, while their picks sections are dead.

I know what you mean, I have been a mod 6 years come December and the same thing was said in 2004, 2006, 2008 and again this year. Where did so and so go etc.. However I noticed something from these old threads that get bumped a lot lately, there are still a lot of oldtimers still around. Sure there are also litterally thousands of new names (many you veteran posters don't know) but I guess it's the nature of these forums that new posters join to replace old ones.
Here is a copy of the first post I made back in 2005 as head mod announcing a new record (when I started in December of 2003 as a junior mod the record was somewhere between 2500 and less than 3000:
