TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Savannah State scored only three first-half points against Florida State on Sunday, setting an NCAA Division I women's basketball record for lowest scoring in a half.

The Tigers trailed 41-0 when LaTeisha Barnett made a free throw with 4:38 left in the half. The other points came on a layup by Caroline Moore with 56 seconds to go to make it 49-3.

The Tigers missed their first 20 shots and trailed 54-3 at halftime. The Seminoles won 107-28.

The previous one-half mark for fewest points was set by Liberty on Jan. 27, 2001, when it trailed Radford 14-8 at halftime.

"I'd never been in that position before," Florida State coach Sue Semrau said. "Honestly, we just tried to stay focused and do what we needed to do at the defensive end of the floor."

All 13 players on Florida State's roster played between 13 and 20 minutes.

Florida State faces a far tougher test Tuesday -- No. 1 Connecticut.

"This was hard, especially when you're trying to get ready to play the No. 1 team in the country on their home court," Semrau said.
