OK Clover, I'll see what I can do about answering your request for Pac-12 info.
First off, 7 out of 12 teams do not yet have a starting QB named by their head coach. A few heavyweights have
moved on not the least of whom is Jarrod Goff, Cal's signal caller under center. I have heard much talk about him
being the #1 draft pick in the NFL which should be coming up in a couple of weeks. That's quite a loss for Sonny
Dykes to cover, not to mention that his top 6 receivers have also moved on. The good news is that Goff will likely
be replaced by a highly rated and skilled QB named Zack Kline who transferred out and then back again just for
this job. He also has 2 new receivers that are tall and also very skilled. Aside from that, the rest of Cal's offense
remains in tact including their entire OL and running backs. It will be interesting to see what sort of numbers the
Bear offense can generate through the air just the same. All in all I expect to see a 5th place finish by Cal in the
Pac-12 North.
One school in the north that won't be having QB issues is WSU. As a matter of fact, Luke Falk could be the top
player at the position in the entire conference. He's made it on many short lists for the Heisman this year. This
news follows true to form for a Mike Leach QB. WSU will definitely put up the points this season. The biggest news
is perhaps their defense which made giant strides as the 2015 season wore on. A potent Cougar defense along
with a potent offense could make Washington State a very dangerous team in 2016.
I'll take the time to chip in my 2¢ for all the teams of the PAC as time permits me and as I bone up on the current
state of affairs doing my homework. I'm just now shaking off the rust so please bare with me. More to come. I'll
be making these synopses randomly until everyone has been covered, then I'll highlight a variety of things as the
2016 season draws closer.
Most of you know by now that USC and Alabama are set to meet in the preseason this year... a welcome addition
to the sport that many people have clamored for for a while. (me included) Too bad I have no confidence in USC's
head coach, certainly nothing close to Nick Saban on the other side.
UCLA is also scheduled to hit on the SEC with an exhibition game vs TAMU.
Good stuff.
