Alright, its going to me and a friend or 2 visiting CR in July or August, long ways from now but I am trying to get an idea of how to make this the most fun possible. We are 23-24 years old, I have a minor in spanish, I don't use it everyday but I can talk some spanish/understand some stuff, working knowledge of the language. We arn't some arrogant gringo's, just looking for a good time in CR, a place I've always wanted to visit. I understand that July-August is the rainy season but it is what it is, just make the best of it.

I am thinking about a 10-12 day trip and probably will fly into San Jose. Plan to stay there for about 3 nights at Hotel Del Rey. I'm sure you guys know what goes on there but if you have any other suggestions for hotels, please give them to us. Suggestions for bars/clubs with hot women and drinks, name them.. I'm a good looking guy so if I can pick up some local tica at a bar and save the $100 for drinks, than thats fine with me but if I gota dish out $100 for a 10, fine by me as well, its vacation and I wanna have fun / bang some hot chicks.

Then we want to travel to a beach area so if you have some suggestions for some cities/towns on the beach to visit that would be great. Spend another 3 days or so there.

Then try visiting another cool place for 2-3 days before making our way back to San Jose to leave. But again, need suggestions.

If you were a 23 yr old male, single, who likes to party/have fun, where would you go, what would you do?

I don't need some 5* hotels in my excursions, just a decent bed and a place where my shit will be safe. Del Rey is said to have great security so that was a big plus for choosing it. If we gota go to different destinations, its most likely by bus which is fine by me.

Thanks guys

Not the Del Rey unless you are just looking for the straight up coke, hookers, and gambling vibe, you are better off hitting up San Pedro, El Pueblo, or some Escazu bars if you want to meet some chicks based on your blue eyes and your smooth tallking and not your $100 bill which by the way rarely gets a 10 these days and if it does she probably wont move around to much but would be happy to let you stick it in her as long as you dont squeeze her nipples which are probably sore because its been a long day.

What do you want to do at the beach? Party, surf, hike, or all of the above?

I can't surf but I guess I would try it. Party-Yes. I would go hiking, white water rafting, whatever, you know, just looking to have the best possible time.

As far as the beach and fun, Jaco (Central Pacific) is your best option. If you wanna go to Guanacaste (North Pacific) which is way nicer than Jaco, then Tamarindo would be your best option. Not nearly as much night life as in Jaco. In Jaco you can find anything you want, anything.

Not sure about your schedule but Arenal is a good spot. Awesome volcano and the hot springs are pretty cool. I've never gone out to party there so not sure.

Well if you are looking for a good change of scenery you should check out Manuel Antonio, its a little touristy but will give you a taste of what costa rica has to offer. Mediocre surfing, whitewater rafting, sex, drugs, rock and roll, monkey, iguana, sloth, ect sitings and photo ops. Couple tiny casinos and accomodations starting from $10 and up.

<LINK href="style.css" type=text/css rel=stylesheet>Costa Rica’s Jaco Beach Poses Health Risk to Swimmers

crocs.jpg

Sewage and Waste Runoff into the Ocean and Rivers Surrounding Jaco Beach.
The beach of Jaco, in Garabito, famous for its surfing and its party atmosphere, has once again found itself the center of negative attention. The beach has reached such levels of pollution that it is now considered a health hazard to swim in its water.

The fecal residues should not exceed a level of 240 per milliliters if the water is to be declared safe to swim in, anything over 500 is considered to be a health hazard. The latest samples taken by the the Institute of Water and Aqueducts (AyA) in June this year proved that the water in Jaco is way above this, with levels between 1100 and 2400. This level of contamination can have severe consequences, with diarrhea, vomiting, infections accompanied by high fever and various allergies. These dangerous levels show that the beach could be closed as it is becoming too dangerous to the health of the swimmers.

Easy as a $10 bus ride or a $100 taxi, bring a book and an ipod and enjoy the ride.

I've been going to Jaco for over 20 years now, surfed there and Hermosa most of my life. Never ever got sick from the water 'cause maybe you're not suposed to drink it, dumb ass. Have seen a croc twice in the water but unlike these gringos I have balls.

There's a ton of good restaurants, bars, girls, casinos, etc.

You havent got sick because you are used to swimming in raw sewage, and although the problem in Jaco has been going on for some time now the fecal matter is at an all time high. If you want to get drunk and roll the "is it a man or a woman" dice and snort some stomped on coke and smoke some crap ass overpriced weed then go ahead but be prepared to get robbed, shot, and pick up a serious urinary tract infection on your way out. Jaco is a cess pool.

Manuel Antonio, the place NES is promoting so hard, has the largest gay community in the country. Huge international gay spot, they even have like an anual gay fest there or something.
