Used to work at dell and recently asked some friends there in sales what they'd get at the moment...

check the very bottom deal here http://www.deals2buy.com/delldeals.htm

17" screen (especially nice for multiple poker tables), the new intel core processor, 1GB ram, 100Gb HDD, DVD burner, blue tooth and 1 yr warranty.

Price is $1100 ($1600 - $200 instant - $300 mail in)

absolutely no reason to get that XPS. Rebate is good until the 9th but I just got burned when I ordered a laptop from them near the coupon expiration date...ordered feb 28th and they are now saying it'll arrive march 24th. Just found this out, going to scream at them tomorrow until I get some free upgrades.

Salain...it looks like you are referring to the E1705, right? If so, that one doesn't have the media center it appears. That is a nice feature that I would use as you can use the DVD/CD function without actually booting windows up. I wonder if that is an upgrade option. I'll check it out.
But the main reason you say this would be better than the XPS is because of the screen size, 1gb ram and new processor?

Check that, it does have the dell media center included so that does look like a nice system. It's alot heavier and larger than the XPS so that is actually a drawback for me. I wanted it to be very portable. Hmmm, tough choice.
