Let me add some more info. First off I think I know when this happened. I was posting a scary picture and when I looked at it I clicked on to some site with optical illusions and since about then I have had problems.

Another thing I want to add is I sometimes use Mozzilla Firefox to access some things and now I cant get on there at all. Not sure if this gives people more info but it just sits there and then says timed out. If this so called virus is causing me all these problems if I cure it will mozilla work again? Is this along ths same lines of me not being able to get any audio or video things. Now I cant see a lot of people's avatar (some I can see though).

When I click the help button on the virus popup it takes me to an AVG page. I think they are legit. My buddy told me to be careful as some of these sites that claim to cure virus are actually viruses themselves. Does this help anyone help me with the AVG info?

I tried to download spybot searh and destroy yesterday and nothing happens and eventually it says to come back that it doens t work or something like that. I have tried this from 3 different places. Is this normal

Do you have me on ignore???

I posted that AVG is free and I've never had any problems after installing it.

Just make sure that when you click to go to AVG that you go to www.avg.com and not some other web site.

what pops up is something that read "accessed file is infected" Threat detected. Threat name is I-Worm/Nuwar.C and when I click on more info AVG comes up.

I cant see half of the avatar like betallsports isnt visible just a red x.

I don't think you have a "virus".
more likely a trojan or worm ?

you probably wont have much luck with the scans,
these are vicious.

1.need to know which OS ? WINXP,Vista,etc. (SP1/2/3) ?
2.need to know if you are getting any other pop-ups ?
3.need to know if you are using AV ? - Which one.

then maybe ,,something can be done.

Ice,
OK.... didnt read all the threads,

It may be in your best interest to reformat and reload WINXP,if you have had this problem in the past....your PC should've come with a restore CD?

but anyway:

first thing is to see if it's a resident program during startup.

click ... start / run - type in MSCONFIG

look on the "startup" and "services" tabs to see if any unusal program loads.

I am guessing you are using AVG free ?
you are going to need a boot-sector scan ...

If you aren't good with AVG,,maybe uninstall and try:

I have found AVAST AV,to be very helpful with these kinds of bugs.

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

after install ..it will ask to schedule a boot-scan ..check yes,
follow instructions .. it takes awhile, couple hours.

if that isn't your first choice ,,there are some tools

try XoftSpy first : http://www-xoftspy.com/

this will at least tell you how many infevted files you have.

lets see how this works for you

I go to system restore and choose a date before the virus hit. If I dont remember the date I go to the earliest restore point available. Its cured me of every virus.

Also only go to porn sites you can trust

Above is the simplest, easiest, best, and cheapest (free) fix.

Dont want to come off as a dick... but do the above!... problem solved! No need for anything else.

It is that simple.

Geek advice here too complexed, no need.

same types of problems here, I purchased bitdefender 2009 but it still says there are 2 critical issues affecting my computer. I tryed System Restore but it won't let me go past 10 days ago, I think this bug has infected my System Restore too.

Ran the SmitFraudFix and that seems to have helped although I'm unable to connect to the internet unless I use SystemRestore to go back to an earlier time with prior to running SmitFraudFix....Argh

No need to worry I have had it up to here with this mess. Dont think that I havent thought of your approach since the beginning but I am not computer savvy enough to do something like this but after much debate I am going for it tonight.

The final straw was last night when I was able to get the downloads to finally work and still am getting the occasional same warning crap as before. The videos and audios are back up and working so that is one good thing. The problem now is with the whole Mozilla thing where I cant get that too work at all and I need it badly. The thing is I would be willing to pay hundreds of dollars to get this up and going normal again. The big problem isnt money or any of that but more of the fact i dont want to deal wth the headache and hassle of taking it in then losing all sorts of important stuff I dont know how to get back up and going. Calling a computer geek friend of mine soon and going your way. I doubt I can figure this out but will give it a try. Hell the whole download success impressed myself already with that so how much harder can this be? we will find out.

You can Uninstall Mozilla and then reinstall it. That might well be your main problem.

yes I do.

I think this is something I had about two weeks ago.
And I think I got it somewhere here, because I Clicked on a link and after that Most of everything you said. I had.

Anyway, Nothing will Stop this....http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/3/default.htm

You will be able to download this, where others you can't.
It is a 60 or 90 Days trial

It does everything, and if you can't trust Microsoft ?? who can you trust
