$4200 is for good, with mechanical problems, I'd have to drop it to fair ( $3300).

I might have got that privately, but didn't want the hassle.

Dealers just didn't want to go over $1,000 on it, car didn't look too good, was in a major collision a few years prior, and re-paint job didn't look great after a few years, didn't blend perfectly. I was shocked the insurance company paid like 7k to fix a maybe 10k car instead of totalling it, but they did.

Are these dealers selling to dealers or dealers selling to regular folk?

These are dealer to dealer sales. Some of these dealers are not licensed to sell to the general public, and collect sales tax, but about 90% of them are........and the other 10% can pay a retailing dealer $100 to run it thru his license and into the private party.

Stay away from those sales that invite the public in, with financing, and hot dogs........those are retail traps.
