Sounds like you are still narrowing down make and model. I am always a bit skeptical of first year models because the consumers work the bugs out. I have never bought one. Forget the certified program, it is a certified disaster, used is used and miles are miles, no warranty takes that away. Do not even consider American. No Infiniti, Acura or Lexus either. I would not want AWD or 4WD but you may have snowy roads. I would pass on Kia, look at Hyundai, Suzuki, Honda, Toyota, Isuzu and ???. Also take a long look at all consumer reports. They have a pretty good sampling from their database.

Yes, snow and ice is a consideration, but not major. I don't need a Hummer. CRV would defitely work, but will check similar stuff. I suspect the changes to the CRV are all in styling not motor and drivetrain, but I'd have to verify that.
