OK, I'm on a really bad run and was wondering what you all do to try and stop it??

-Do you lay off, and take a break?
-Keep playing, all streaks end?
-Cut down the amount of plays?
-anything else??

Personally dropped over 20 Units since the All Star break, knew it was coming as I always have a dry spell during hockey...usually a bit earlier though. To make it worse, usually when the NHL goes a bit sour a few NBA plays help me endure the slide, but I have been sucking in both sports!!!

Almost to the point of just fading myself...honestly LOL!!

Thanks in advance for any replies and suggestions

Take some time off & re-evaluate your method in selecting your wagers, teams, opinions etc & you will come back good.

i layoff and take a break and the next few plays i make are from someone here on this site i TRUST and RESPECT (you could do a LOT WORSE than play bobby bryde's picks - and not much better if we are talking NHL - for college hoops - kodiak7, action's 3B plays, college guru and panther's 5* picks come to mind right away).

i would pick games i like - but DO NOT play them - but just make a note of who you picked and the results. when you see yourself starting to win again - THEN you start playing your own picks - but not until then.

When I go on bad run, I try to come back one bet at a time. I will look at the whole card of a particular sport, say hockey in this case. I then will start handicapping the card and pick just one game, the game I have the best feeling about, the one that stands out to me as having the best chance of winning. I know value is important, but the only way to break a losing streak is by winning. So don't get all wrapped up in value, pick 1 winner and go on from there. The next day or if possible the next batch of games in the same day, look for that second winner. If you were any good to begin with, which I believe you are, you will eventually put together a winning streak.

Scooby:

The last 2 months of the season are the toughest to handicapp.

You have teams that are way up In the standings, and therefore they rest some of their top players for the playoffs.

You have teams that are out of the playoffs, and they bring up some future stars. Hence they try to stand on their heads to show that they belong In the big leagues.

The books thrive during this time of year In the NHL.

As far as the contest goes, Its going to be a great finish.

Good luck

scooby,if you are a good capper(which I think you are)it will always even out.....when things go bad I always lower unit size on bets and depending on how bad it gets I take a small break....don't stop capping though!!!always shadow box,cap in the same way,and when you see the cycle starting to change jump right back in.......Ride the peaks out and try and minimize the damage during the valleys.......

good luck

Hey Scoob -- You'll turn it around. Keep it simple. Sometimes a day off or two definitley doesn't hurt. Cut the amount on your plays back until things turn, if you're playing small and continue to struggle, atleast you'll cut back on the losses. But i think you can turn it around, one thing that worked for me was getting back to basics and keeping things simpler, don't over-anaylyse.

No bad luck

Thanks for all the advice everyone! Spent the last 4 hours going over my plays for tonight...don't know if it will help any though LOL

My luck over the last few days made it seem worse as I capped games, but passed on them and stuck with my main plays. Main plays would lose while the others would fair OK (not winning them all, but some nice dogs coming in...) I just never wagered them...maybe some of you know the feeling..starting to think too much LOL

Will try tonight, & hope I can end up on the plus side. If not, I will be capping the games still, maybe play one game a day (Thanks Wil) and see how the rest do. I expect to lose a fair amount of games, just seems this skid is unexplainable LOL

Thanks for all the input and comps guys!!

GL, +$ for everyone!!

Scoob,

Just lower your wager till you turn it around. Taking time off never worked for me as a hard luck run has to play itself out regardless of timeframe. Remember even the BEST teams hit losing streaks. Good luck whatever you decide.

simple: cut selections down, cut amount of wagers down. what i look for is if im on right side or not. if i have 3-4 losing days but all are close defets i tend not to worry too much; but if im consistlently giving out overs which end 2-0, then its time to take step back and look at what im doing wrong. one bit of advise if want to keep playing: look for the obvious plays. for instance if i was in losing streak today i would make three plays. vancouver PK+10, new jersey -.5 even, colorado PK even. no juice and three good teams all of which need to keep winning.

Been tough Bobby, seems the teams I'm on lately build up 3 goal leads and lose, or if I'm on a dog ML and they tie (when I usually take a half goal with a big dog) Lot's of late goals to kill unders ect ect ect.

May all depend on tonight, as I played my 6 plays in the contest (some different lines) and the over 1.5 in the first of the TO/Canuck game

Will be cutting the plays back after tonight if it comes out bad! Always the playoffs to build up with

Thanks again to everyone for the input, its appreciated!!
