Need a reputable computer guy
I bought an Acer netbook, it was pretty fantastic until it crashed while doing a windows update. Now it boots, Blue screens but restarts before I can see the message.

I could likely fix it myself but I don't have a portable DVD drive.

can someone recommend someone good on the west side or paseo colon?

Boot into safe mode by pressing F8 after you hear the beeps on startup. Do a System Restore to a date previous to when you did Windows Update.

KB , you are in luck as my wife is out of town and I can go on crazy adventures on the other side of town

in case what quantumleap says doesn't work let me know, I will most likely bill you in terms of beers

(I do have an external dvd drive and I can of course rescue whatever info you had in there)

however on second thought, I am not sure I could be classified as 'reputable' but hell, 10 years screwing (And later fixing ) damage to hundreds of servers must account for something LOL

Sorry wolfie, I didn't mean to cut into your business. Perhaps he'll need some help finding the restore point at which point you rescue him and are paid off in beers.

haha np QL, I hope he can do it on his own. As long as windows (or the MBR) is not seriously #$%$#$ up the system restore takes care of most problems these days.

Regardless of the outcome, either KB or you (because of interference) is/are going to owe me some beers :toast: :lol:
