That's a real good question. I haven't read anything other than horse racing books in the past year. I enjoy self help and ways to make life more enjoyable style books. I enjoy reading to learn.

I know you said you are looking for non-fiction but if you want a great story - I go with the Song of Ice and Fire series.

That will keep you busy for a while.

People's History of the United States, Howard Zinn. It's history that reads like a novel. I like Akphi's choice too if you're looking to learn.

It's funny this thread came back to life, heading to Barns and Nobel today to get the practice book for the court officers exam.

Nothing is worse than being unemployed because you always feel the clock ticking. Meaning the longer you are unemployed, the more unemployable you become. Not to mention, if companies know you are unemployed, they can lowball an offer knowing you have to take it. I took a position I didn't like and my selling point in interviews was I wanted to prove I was not lazy by taking a job that is below my skill.
