Nutt would be under much more pressure, and have the same obstacle(must recruit 25 per yr/100 man roster) that he already has at Ark, both states(as w/KSU in Kansas) are talent deficient..it is unrealistic to think that Nebraska can stay on par with the Fla schools, or Texas, or USC, or LSU, or Ohio State in today's NCAA Football..there simply isn't enough in-state base to build from in my opinion.
Dr.Tom built them and had them at the zenith at a time when only a few teams were on National TV games, cable's proliferation has negated much of this, Nebraska will always be at least 9-3, but to expect 1 and 2 loss seasons at an 85% clip is unrealistic for future coaches there.
Parity and TV have brought about more players staying in-state(notice Notre Dame's drought with Texas and Cali players) or PSU' former raids to the Midwest and Seaboard..in today's game it requires a real salesmean when at a school in an unpopulated state(an exemption:OU which has good in-state albeit average quantity, OU due to proximity is actually as close to Dallas and North Texas players as is Austin, besides players see OU as a Dallas team..Red River voictors yearly).
This isn't Georegtown & UConn Hoops, where it requires only 5 to 7 ringers total from all four classes, it's football, and that requires 25 new top-flight players per fall to keep continuity.
