playing colorado on the moneyline. there should be enough scoring in this game where the field goal doesn't have the kind of value it normally would. so ill play this one juice free and take back a small return.

west virginia is a likely candidate to win the 'louisville 2007-2008' award. theyre the kind of team that could very well prove to be a big time money burner while people try to chase them week after week because of their ability to score points. wvu fans can say 'good riddance' all they want, but losing rodriguez was a huge hit to the program.

last year people grossly underestimated the loss of petrino to the UL. and many refused to see the red flags that popped up in losses to kentucky and syracuse. because they returned talent on offense, they still commanded a lot of betting money despite lacking the swagger that made them so dominant in the petrino years. it was months of 'they'll bounce back, they'll bounce back'. they never did.

im not convinced that east carolina loss was an aberration. the pirates are an average football team whose ranking will ultimately prove silly when they are playing just to become bowl eligible late in the season. the red flags are popping up for west virginia. theyre not going to completely fall off the map. but they are going to regress this year. teams know the mountaineers are beatable. laying points in one of the more difficult environments in college football just doesn't add up.

colorado should win this one.

Ouch. You on Colorado will definitely scale back my WV pick by at least half of what I was planning to play.

I will disagree w/ you saying ECU is average...they are overrated but avg?

I think the Buffs can deal w/ WVA's ground attack. They look better on O but still don't care for their wideouts and Hawkins consistency needs to improve.

nothing wrong with disagreeing.
i think ecu is simply average though. virginia tech had to completely shit on themselves for ecu to win the opener. and they struggled vs tulane - yeah, a bit of an emotional letdown. but i think it was a case of them just not being good enough to take care of business. ultimately, i think they're a .500 conference usa team (weakest in college football imo) and wvu's struggles against them are a big red flag to me. mounties just dont have that swagger sans richrod. and thats a big deal to me.

CUSA is poor. I have not seen any of Tulane's games and I am sure that most opponents might be taking them for granted but looks like they could be a scrappy bunch. Did you see the ECU/Tulane game, prodigy?

I hear a lot of people on Colo tonite basing it on them being a Big-12 team v Big east. I don't give that any weight here as we saw what WV did to the mighty OU in the fiesta bowl ly. I look for a breakout game for the speedy Mounties tonite against one of the big-12's bottom feeders. Too much speed on both sides of the ball. WVa by 10 tonite. Hate being on the opposite side of you but GL anyway.

WVU has never played at 5400' before. It's our "blackout" game too so everyone is pumped and wearing black. Our "blackout" game last year was against heavily favored FSU and we only ended up losing by 3. I'll be at the game tonight yelling my head off. GO BUFFS

I liked the over and Colorado after looking at things and after reading the following from the Service Thread, I like both even more:

Here's some information I read on the Service Play thread that I thought was interesting:

1. Colorado- First things first, this is NOT the 2007 version of the Mountaineers, as two things have become painfully clear with this new-look Bill Stewart led WVU squad: A. Pat White desperately misses playmakers RB Steve Slaton and WR Darius Reynaud, as their offense has struggled to get it done despite returning most everyone else from last years high-powered attack. And B. Bill Stewart's insistence on switching to a more pass-based pro-style attack has not gone over smoothly, as was clearly demonstrated by their 24-3 blowout loss at Eastern Carolina.

What's more is coach Stewart was quoted as saying he's going to back to the running attack in this contest, after Pat White tossed 51 passes in the first two games. Herein lies the problem, as the Buffaloes defense is especially stout against the run, and if Stewart stays true to his word (which I expect), they'll be playing right into the strength of this Colorado defense, allowing just 59 rushing yards per game thus far.

For all you West Virginia-backers out there, I got one question for you: How in the hell is a young and vulnerable WVU secondary going to stop Cody Hawkins and this high-powered Buffaloes passing attack?! Remember this stat: Opposing QBs are 43 of 55 for 502 yards against this Moutaineers defense thus far this season. That's right, two games and already the WVU secondary is getting exposed! More of the same tonight, as Hawkins puts on a clinic at home. Not to mention, when Hawkins isn't slinging the ball, star frosh RB Darrell Scott is just as dangerous as Noel Devine, if not more!

Finally, you have to believe the Buffaloes and their fans will be fired up in this national TV appearance. Look for a lot of energy coming from Colorado early and often in this one. Not to mention, the Buffaloes are also on a 5-0 run ATS in 2nd of back-to-back home games, which should tell you a little something about home field advantage. In the end, coach Stewart flip-flopping between pass-based and run-based attacks is a BAD sign, as his offense flounders in the confusion. Do not sleep on this Colorado team, especially at home, against a soft-ass WVU secondary. Buffaloes roll!

Take Colorado plus the points over West Virginia as your top-rated play of the day.

Let's cash this prodigy :pope:

loving Colorado tonight. Bill Stewart is no Rich Rodriguez, and he def can not coach with Dan Hawkins. Looking for a big year for the Buffs and their coming out party is going to be tonight. GL

Hmmm it depends... For pregaming, Pearl St. is about a 10 minute walk... so most of the action will be on the hill... (around Broadway and 11th) but in general for the weekend (Friday night, after the game Saturday, etc.) then yes... Pearl St. is the place to be...

wvu by 10 could certainly happen. hell, by 17 could happen. i don't see it happening though. colorado, win or lose, is not a bottom feeder anymore. the program is close to breaking through. it doesnt happen overnight. but the years of colorado rolling over against good teams are gone.

i keep flip flopping on this game. maybe it is wvu's history the past few years. i really think colorado, or any stadium who hasn't had a big primetime game in a while is a really tough place to play. ala cleveland browns mnf this year and buffalo bills vs cowboys last year. wvu is a pretty bad road team, but does buffalo have the defense to win this?
