Cincy @ Purdue +6 1/2 (2)
Both teams stand at 1-0.
Cincy beat Tenn Martin 28-7
Purdue beat E. Kentucky 45-24
Purdue returned 16 starters: 8 on offense and 8 on D
Their are high expectations in Coach Hazell's 4th season.
QB Blough was 25 for 43 for 245 yards. RB Jones rushed 24 times for 145 yards. The team rushed for 261 yards.
No doubt they are capable of scoring points this season.
It's their rushing D that needs work as they gave up 177 ry last week.
Cincy QB Moore was 21-34 for 260 and Cincy rushed for 140 yards.
Cincy rushing D also gave up 176 yards on the ground.
Comes down to the points for me. I really do expect a close game and think Purdue will improve on their 2-10 record from last year.
Cincy are 3-9 in road openers and this is their first trip to West Lafayette.
Georgia St @ Air Force -18 (2)
AF was not really tested last week as they beat Abilene 37-21. A lot of people got into the game for AF as they totaled 602 yards with 401 rushing yards.
Georgia St gave up 455 total yards and 325 rushing yards last week to Ball St. I just don't like their chances in this one. AF QB Romine practiced Monday and Tuesday and appears to be okay. I guess he was nicked up last game but it was kept quiet.
Georgia St attempted 8 passes last game and competed 4 for 32 yards. They will try to shorten the game but AF worth at lest 4 points at home and I like them to take care of business in this one.
Air Force is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games at home.
UConn @ Navy -4 (2)
Both team won their openers. Navy beat Fordham 52-16 AND Conn beat Maine 24-21.
Connecticut is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
Connecticut is 2-10 SU in its last 12 games on the road
Navy is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games
Navy is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
Navy is always a tough out for any team to play because of their success with the run. Their starting QB (Tago Smith was injured late in the 2nd quarter and is out for the season as surgery is required.) He had 10 carries for 97 yards. Yes, he will be missed. But yet it was only the first game of the year as he had the tough ask of replacing Keenan Reynolds. Anyway, Will Worth came in the game and even passed 3 for 3 for 79 yards and a td. He is not near as fast as Tago with his feet, but he is bigger and a better passer according to their coaching staff. Navy RB (Chris High) rushed 10 times for 176 yards.
UConn has a QB in Shirreffs who can do it all. Last week he was 23-16 for 162 yards and had 20 carries for 97 yards. Navy must contain him to win the game. Conn returns 10 players on offense so they should be much improved on that side of the ball.
I just like the track record of Navy at home as that is a tough atmosphere for the visiting team to play at.
Kentucky @ Florida -17 (2)
Kentucky is 1-8 ATS in its last 9 games (like it)
Kentucky is 1-8 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Florida (love it)
Kentucky at 0-1 losing at home 44-35 to S. Miss. (no show 2nd half)
Florida at 1-0 winning 24-7 at home over UMass.
Florida 29 game winning streak over Kentucky and just don't see it ending this week.
Kentucky D got tired at home giving up 35 points and 296 RY and 258 PY for a total of 554 yards. Now they have to play at Florida.
Speaking of Florida: Rushing Def held Mass to 46 yards on 35 carries. If S. Miss shredded the Kentucky D then surely Florida QB Del Rio 29 for 44 for 256 passing yards and 2 td's should have their way.
Of course I'm aware of last years game that was decided in the 3rd ot. This Florida team is much better this year and hopefully will get some players back for this game off suspensions. It's a big spot to give but sometimes you got to give to get!
Ball St +17 1/2 @ Indiana (2)
