I will answer you question. NO.

With that being said, this does not even merrit conversation untl Title IX is removed.

Forget pay, I don't know how sports survive at non major schools. I understand how OSU, Texas, florida can support all their sports, but how does North Texas and others survive?

I don't think they should get a huge cut of the millions but they bring in so much money the school might as well take care of them with like $1000 in cash a month or a small portion of the money that individual sport makes. They are the reason the school is cashing in... scholarships aren't enough since alot of kids don't care about school. College sports are a business and the kids on the teams making all that money deserve a small cut to live off of. Hell, they don't have as much free time as the other students because they have 2 or 3 hours of practice every day. Much harder to get a job.

Title IX is BS. I agree. Nothing against the ladies but if no one comes to your games, why should the university waste tons of cash supporting the team? If I suck at playing the bag pipe on the street and no one cares, I don't deserve money for it. Sorry, but that's the way I see it. Either find a way to attract fans or raise your own money. You don't deserve equal support when you aren't bringing in equal money.

Most of them get thousands of dollars in tuition money. Could be around 70k+

and free tutoring, and free room and board. Plus they get free team meals where they eat like kings. And free access to the best workout equiptment and personal/team trainers. And don't forget all the free shoes, shirts, pants, hats...their fuckin spoiled!! Fuck them!!

They should definately be paid. This isn't 1950 anymore, these kids generate millions of $$$'s of revenue and they don't even receive a drop in the bucket. If Kentucky and it's boosters want to give XYZ superstar High School recruit $50,000 a year plus a Ferrari to attend their university plus tuition they should be allowed to. The major college athlete's in college football and basketball get next to nothing for the amount of $$ they generate.

how much $$$ did The Ohio St. University's football program generate while Maurice Clarett was a student-athlete there? I would be shocked if it wasn't at least $100 million(if not much more). Look where Clarett is today. Chew'em up, and spit'em out.

There are hundreds of NCAA schools. Maybe 20 of them make money, all the rest operate at big losses

North Texas is a public school. Tax money supports them. In Texas, football is far more important than paved roads

I was a college athlete and I will say this. I don't think most schools could afford to pay athletes. At least not much but the NCAA could make it easier to earn money. Up until 1997 athletes on full scholorships were literally not allowed to have a job. Now they can work but are only allowed to earn a certain amount per school year. Around $2,000 a year. Also between games and practice I put in about 28 hours a week playing baseball, and another 12 hours in classes. So I was allready putting in a 40 hour week not counting studying. I don't know what the NCAA could do but it would be nice if they could figure out something to atleast give athletes a few hundred a month. Even it was only a loan that was paid back after college.

The schools shouldn't pay them more than an education, it should fall on he students to maximize what they get...Matt Lienart's senior year consisted of Ball room Dancing class and some other Bullshit.

That being said, I think the NCAA should loosen the rules on players making money outside of school, local sponsors etc.

If an athlete wants to make a commercial endorsing a product whats the harm.

They are getting an education for free, which will give you more earning power in the real world. That is worth a lot. That said, I still believe the kids should be given some small stipend around $150 a week.

Some of these kids come from very little. If their parents do not have the money to provide them with, then the kid will literally have no money. Imagine not having any money at your disposal. It would be terrible.

I was a full ride athlete and I realize that I got free room and board, free food, very, very discounted tuition, free books and other stuff, but the fact remains that every person needs money to live a basic life, even in college. Say you go to school 9 months a year and the NCAA only allowes you to make 2k. that means a student is allowed to earn about 200 bucks a month if they have a job. And a job isn't easy to have when your allready playing the sport and going to school.
