INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — NCAA vice president of men’s basketball Dan Gavitt says the referees Monday night in the national championship game had access to television replays on a crucial play in the last 2 minutes but had already decided to give the ball to Duke when CBS showed a magnified view of the play.
The NCAA Tournament head says the referees should have been a little more “patient” before making the ruling after Wisconsin’s Bronson Koenig missed a layup with 1:54 left and the Badgers trailing 63-58.
In a scramble for the rebound, the referees initially ruled it went off a Wisconsin player even though replays appeared to show the ball was clearly touched by a Duke play. But the call was not reversed, and the Blue Devils went on to win 68-63.

If you want to have some low level childish back and forth about me being a stalker and what not I'm not interested. If you'd like to discuss this game, and the officiating like adults I am happy to do so. Your call.

There's nothing to discuss. You think the officiating had an impact on the outcome of the game, I don't. The end.

If you watched basketball all year long and feel Virginia deserved a #1 seed over Duke or they were the better team over Duke, I don't know what to say. Duke beat Virginia in Virginia. Going into the tourney, it was very clear Duke was one of the top 4 teams in the nation. Nobody argued with Duke being a #1 seed.

Coach K whining helped them win? Ok, I guess Duke's D had nothing to do with it? Bo Ryan was on the side bitching too.

The better team won the game just as they had earlier in the year.
I wouldn't really agree that Duke was a better team. I think it was a coin flip and anyone that bet this game won or lost a roulette spin. I believe that each team wins about 50 if they played 100 times.

It was odd that after the Badgers were called for just two fouls in the first half, Duke was in the double bonus with more than 10 minutes left in the game. Might the fact that Wisconsin had the nine - point lead with 13 minutes to go in the game put the refs in a panic mode? Nah, not in the clean sport that is NCAA basketball.

Agree. There were 2 obvious charges on Winslow during the comeback that they called the other way (would have been his 4th), plus the play where he stepped out bounds.

Referees couldn't watch every replay cuz whiner Krzyzewski was bitching at them to get the game going. If the refs hadn't ripped the charging page out of the rule book and allowed Duke to go barrelling into the lane in the second half, I believe the outcome would have been different. But like someone said in a post after Saturday night's semifinals, Duke will start the championship game in the bonus. That didn't happen in the first half, but they damn made sure it happened in the second.[/QUOTE]
i warned everyone, main reason i took duke
