He got the win, didn't he!? That is a terrible bad beat for the under people though.

If they investigate, it would be for the over. Can you win in college overtime by more than seven?

starting with 3rd OT you have to go for 2 after a score
8 is the most you can win by

Actually, you can be up, 6,7, or 8 on defense, and intercept a pass or pick a fumble and bring it all the way back for another 6 points. To win by 12,13,or 14. I am not 100% sure, but believe this has happened a couple of times.

stop crying

3rd and 11

1.07 left hawaii cant run out the clock

jones was going for the fieldgoal on 4th down no matter what

he had 1 play to score a td on 3rd down
very unlikely to run 11 yards to td so he passed

missed completion so he went for the field goal on 4th

case closed

I would think it's rare though, Happyday. Once it went to overtime however the over was very reachable.

mickj...of course, it's rare...but you asked if it could happen.

But as for the original question in this thread...no investigation needed. And to wish someone had died is going way over the line.

June Jones always has Hawaii playing this style...besides, they couldn't have run out the clock, he was going for the clincher. It was a safe pass that wasn't intercepted...the Warriors still had chance to ice it with field goal but missed.

The real thing that should be investigated is the stupid comments by announcers that Hawaii could have run the last two plays and run out the clock...as DE NIRO wrote above, that wasn't true. I agree with the announcers that Hawaii mismanaged the clock earlier (getting run out of bounds, etc.) but once they got to that third down, they would have had to give up the ball if they didn't get a first down. Granted...they could have left Houston with about 20 seconds remaining...but if they had run two plays as the announcers suggested and Houston pulls a miracle play, the critics would be asking why Jones didn't kick the field goal.

It comes down to execution. Hawaii didn't do what was needed to close it out, and Houston capitalized. And, no, I didn't have a wager on the game.

"Can you win by more than 7 in OT?"

Why..Yes..Yes You Can..6 YEARS AGO I HAD
THE ABSOLUTE WRONG SIDE OF THE USC @ ASU game(yet won my bet by Divine Intervention), as Jake The Snake and Company not only rallied to force OT, but then score an offensive TD, then return an USC pass the distance on USC's ensuing series to cover the Double Digit Spread..Simply Amazing!

Why would a coach teach his players(or maybe he doens't) to run back the defensive touchdown if they're on offense first and already up. A smart player would take the interception and kneel down to the end the game. But i'm guessing young college students surely would rather have the TD to pad the stats.

Make sure you tip EVERY time.. They often WILL pay you on a losing hand again. They are smart they wait for multicard hands where the totals are close and either pay them or push them.

That rule has been changed... the most you can win by in OT is 8. And I remember tht USC game, it cost me too.
