Every year I would dabble in futures like winning Big10, total season wins, etc. NOT THIS YEAR!
First of all how will it work? Say your team is 9-0 and game ten gets cancelled because the opposing team has too many players test positive for the virus? Will there be a refund? Is the game forfeited and the team goes to 10-0??
If a team goes 9-0 and three games were cancelled due to virus and there are four 12-0, 11-1 teams, who gets to playoffs?
If I bet Ohio State to win Big Ten and Justin Fields tests positive and cannot play month of November....or many an entire offensive line.
What if a team only announces their players out of play due to virus minutes before kickoff? I can see Harbaugh doing that.
Guess the first question should be; Will players be tested weekly? Will positive tests mean no-playing? How long? How many players can test positive before games are cancelled? What if majority of coaching staff test positive? WOW!
TOO MANY IFs.
And as far as standard handicapping, may have to throw that out the window! Some teams will be ready at start of season, some will be lost. Some early "lost" teams will quickly recover, some not. Teams with new coaching staffs and new schemes look to be ripe for fading early.
I will go week to week and may not be making my bets until just before game time. Treading lightly this year.
