Ok, my first post in this forum, which probably means it is a guaranteed 0-2 night, but here goes (all records are posted/documented at covers, where I have posted the entire preseason)...

YTD: 19-12-1 (+4.35 units)

Overall ATS record for preseason (50-26-2)

Not crazy about the board, will take it easy tonight...

Boston Celtics +4 (1/2 unit)

Paul Pierce is playing tonight, reduced minutes, I am sure, but his presence has got to help a team that has lost 5 straight preseason games...CLE is NOT on their home floor...A slight revenge factor makes this a small play, as CLE just beat Boston 2 days ago by 5...

Chicago Bulls -4 (1/2 unit)

Washington is going back-to-back as they head to Chicago...Arenus played 36 minutes last night and I expect that to be cut back to 24 tonight, tops, coming back off an ankle injury...Wizards are banged up, the Bulls have played well at Home (are 3-1, with a 2-point loss to TOR last game) and I'll take the Bulls to pull this one out over the traveling Wizards...

Leans: PORT & SEA...

Kobe will win the feud with Ray Allen tonight, but will the Lakers beat SEA?...Tough call...If the Lakers were not playing their 4th game in 5 days, I'd be all over them, but the game is in San Diego and the line is already moving up, so I am laying off...

I read where the PORT players are ready to start the regular season now, but they got to play 3 more preseaon games yet...Coach Montgomery of GS has been very displeased with his team's performance lately and he is going to tighten his rotation the rest of the preseason...Problem is, PORT is 2-0 at Home with 2 blowout wins so far in the preseason...

I was the first to start posting preseason NBA at covers daily, but a few others are posting there...

With no NHL this October, I've had tons more time on my hands, so I read the online newspapers every day for each team, and you can find a LOT of good information there about who is playing/not playing and what some coaches are thinking in terms of player rotation...

When the Toronto newspaper has an article before their first game, quoting coach Sam Mitchell as saying he "doesn't care about winning preseason games", well, guess who was a great fade their first few preseason games?...

When the Detroit newspaper quotes Larry Brown before he season as saying, "we are going to play our young guys to see what they can do", well guess who was another great fade early on?...Then Larry is quoted 2 games ago as saying, "It's time to play the starters more minues, I've seen what the young guys can do", guess who was a great play their last 2 games?...

When the Phoenix newspapers quote Coach Mike D'Antoni as saying, "We had our first losing preseason last year since 1988 lat year and it carried over into the regular season and we had our worst regualr season in quite some time. So this year, I want to instill that winning attitude back at Phoenix in the preseason this year and get some wins in the preseason"...Well guess who is started the preseason 4-0 ATS and I had them every time?...

Like Newport says, "some of us are full-time gamblers"...This isn't just a hobby any more...

And with that said, here comes an 0-2 night...

NBA preseason Tuesday...

YTD: 20-13-1 (+4.3 units)

Overall ATS record (51-29-2)

I'm going to take it easy with plays and units to close out this preseason (4 days left) because I want to clinch positive money...Was going to make one play a day, but 3 plays looks good, I can't help myself, so I'll just lower the units here in the final week...

Memphis Grizzlies +5 (1/2 unit)

The Pacers look like a M*A*S*H* unit, putting basically a replacement team on the floor at Denver the other night...Lot of guys out...They can still eke out a win here, maybe, but every preseason win but one has been by 3 points or less for the Pacers...Their only blowout win??...At MEMP...So this is a bit of a revenge game...Just don't see Memphis getting blown out here...

Denver Nuggets -7.5 (1/2 unit)

Vince Carter is OUT, but man, I hate laying this many points in the preseason...I may regret this one because it just looks too damn easy to take Denver with Vinsanity out of the lineup tonight as a late scratch due to his former agent suing him and he has to be in court today, but I'll take a shot with the Nuggets...

Phoenix Suns -6.5 (1/2 unit)

Ray Allen is OUT again tonight, Seattle is banged up, PHOE has played inspired ball the entire preseason and are coming off their first loss, while SEA is going back-to-back tonight...I don't like laying points but there is only one side to take in this game...

Leans: SA (DAL is banged up, no Finley tonight, PHI (Utah is experimenting), NY (Wilkens is under fire, needs a good road performance tonight after 3 road maulings)...

Wednesday's games...

I am pulling the reigns in a little these last 4 days because I want to finish the Preseason in the black...

Atlanta Hawks +1.5 (1/2 unit)

From the Atlanta Journal-constitution: "Coach Woodson said he thought Willis would miss tonight's game but would be back for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh against Cleveland.

Harrington, who practiced Tuesday with a protective glove on his injured shooting hand, probably will play tonight.

A boost should come in the presence of guard Tony Delk, who underwent knee surgery in July and has taken it slowly in camp. Delk went through his first full contact practice Monday, and Woodson said he thought Delk might play for the first time tonight."

Coach Woodson added "it's very important to start playing well with just 2 exhibition games left".

The game is not on Charlotte's Home floor, it's at Fayetteville, NC...If ATL is going to get another preseason win, then tonight is now or never...

This will be the only game I bet...However, if Charlotte covers, I have time to bet the Portland game, and may just do that...If Atlanta wins, I am done for the night...I like PORT because TOR is going back-to-back and Chris Bosh played 37 minutes last night and Vince Carter is OUT again...

Still waiting to see if the league hands down suspensions today to Bulls' players for that brawl 2 night ago...

The line jumped at 5dimes since this afternoon...Risky play, considering how bad Chicago has been on the Road, but Indiana just played last night, Artest is not suiting up tonight, and I think the Bulls should show some spark/spunk coming off that last game where they had the brawl...They can get under this rising number...

Man, how dumb am I, playing the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls on the same preseason night??...I guess I like throwing money away...We'll see...

LA Clippers Pick (1/2 unit)

Coach Mike D'Antoni has provided me with a lot of great info all preseason...From the Arizona Republic:

"The Suns conclude a successful 5-1 preseason with back-to-back games at the Los Angeles Clippers tonight and at the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, and coach Mike D'Antoni plans to handle each game differently.

Against the Clippers, who fell 105-83 in the first preseason game this year at America West Arena, D'Antoni said the Suns would work on getting their defensive rotations to the point he wants them. D'Antoni said he wants his team to win and play well. He also plans to get a look at players who don't figure to see much action during the season.

At Sacramento, I'll be more inclined to go more with our regulars. We have to see if we have received some answers or if we're still searching," he said. "I'd like for the last one to be more like a real game, and I'm sure they would, too. We'll have to see how it goes. I don't want to wear people out."

Sounds to me like the bench will play tonight as he rests his starters for Sacramento tomorrow...Plus, I was reading somewhere that Marion was questionable for tonight...

Friday, final day of preseason...

YTD: Games bet -- 21-18-1 (+1.75 Units), Overall record: 61-42-2

Yesterday: 0-1 (-0.55 Units), Overall: 3-5

Last 2 weeks: 17-17-1 (+0.40 Units), Overall 50-38-1

Bad finish (last 3 days, 1-5) to the preseason after a good 10-to-12 day stretch, but thankfully, I was smart enough to lower my bets and plays this week...I like 2 games, but will try and bet just one:

Toronto Raptors -1.5 (1 unit)

Yes, I just raised my bet back up, but I just like this game too much...Read this article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Summary: Silas played 4 of his 5 starters the entire 2nd half last night!!...Their starters logged heavy minutes, just check the boxscore, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas was quoted as saying, "We are tired, we cannot wait until the regular season can start. We are tired of playing on the Road."

I got burned reading the Phoenix paper last night as they didn't play their subs the minutes the Coach implied, but tonight, the Cleveland reserves should be seeing some playing time...Also, Vince Carter is playing tonight...

If Cleveland covers, I may bet Portland for 1/2 a unit late, because Ray Allen is not supposed to play...If I place both bets and lose, I am BARELY above even for the preseason...I should just play Toronto for 1/2 a unit and be done with the preseason, but I can't help it, I'm a gambler...
