1-1 yesterday not very good.
Playoffs 1-2
Just a reveiw of yesterday's games. I took Sacto game 1 and they drew away in the last qtr to cover. Mia up by 12 win with last second shot. This is the NBA these things happen.I still believe i had the right team in the Heat but they didn't cover.
The Heat are a young team and will be prone to these type of lapses. NO definately will not make this series easy for MIA. Maybe the general consensus is right and the Hornets are the best team to spring a first round upset. Hornets are a streaky team. If their jumpers are all falling they could give the Heat fits. NO also has the rebounding edge to negate any missed jumpers. It's going to be hard for the Heat to get easy transition points in this series unless they grab better defensive boards.
Baron Davis is a top 5 player when he is 100% and thats not often. I also don't buy into the story NO will tank this series cause they want their coach gone. If that was the case MIA would have won by 50 in game 1. NO will be hard to beat at home and if they can steal game 2 in Miami the series could be over.
Dallas has the guns to match it with Sacto. There is no doubt about that. Game 2 is anyones for the taking. Sacto has hit form just in time appartently. The Mav's small ball will wear the Kings down. The Mav's will run on them at every opportunity. Players like Divac and Miller will become non-factors in this type of game of transition defense. Webber will be also stretched to get back. Dallas has a whole heap of guards who can run and push the ball. They can win this series easy.
Onto todays games. First i want to talk about the Rockets/Lakers battle. How many people in china will be huddled around tv's watching Yao do his thing against Shaq! Alot of people are saying the lakers bounce back today and cover easily. This maybe the case. They just don't play that way very much or as much as they should anyway with all the talent they have. They always playdown to their opponent. Always. It's frustrating as a basketball fan to see this. Must be even more frustrating to Laker fans. Payton is playing hurt. He injured his back in the 2nd half of game 1 and became a non-factor. Fox is playing with an injury. Malone has some sort of injury as well to his ankle it's obviously not bad enough where he can't play but i say he is playing in pain. The lakers have to go with guys like Fisher/Slav/George in this game to support Kobe and Shaq otherwise they could be in trouble. I think it was fitting that kobe shot an airball and Shaq dunked it to win. Says alot about what i already know about the Lakers and the standard of game 1. Lakers ATS record is well documented. It's not really their fault partly due to the fact that bookies always add an extra 2-3 points on top of whatever number it should be cause they have so much action on the Lakers by high rollers who no nothing about bad numbers. Still the lakers don't really care about winning by 7 or more, as long as they win. I definately wouldn't be in line to take -7 anyway, it just goes against everything i believe in. The Rockets have a genuine shot at game 2 to make the series interesting. Francis has an injury concern but appears to be ok and will play. Mobley/Jackson had apsolute shockers from the field in game 1 and hit nothing. Cato/Yao did well to control the paint and make it interesting. The key to the game will be will be the shooters of both teams. If Kobe/George/Fisher get hot bye bye Rockets. If Mobley/Jackson drain some jumpers they can keep the game close. I will be taking Houton and the points, also smaller type play on the over as well. Too many people are saying it's low scoring again. Will post them in later.
Onto my stronger play of the night. Memphis. In game 1 they were dominated and dealt with accordingly. Spurs shot 54% from the field, Griz turned the ball over 20+ times and shot like 34%. Good defense by the Spurs. The Griz let in far too many easy layups and dunks in game 1! Too many. They have the big guys to defend the ring so it's surprising they let the Spurs slash to the basket like that. The Griz have to make them shoot over the top of them and hit the boards hard. Seemed to me like Duncan was played one on one in game 1 as well. He has to be doubled at all times and he has to be made to work for every point he gets. I wouldn't care just foul him and put him on the line. Don't give him easy baskets like that. Let the shooters beat you. Give Parker and Ginobili room and zone them. Make them hit big shots to beat you. I got the impression that Hubie Brown won't be playing that way tho. They want their running game going so they will play the man and go for the steals to get their transition offense going and get the Spurs into an open court type of game. It's almost arrogant the way the Griz played game 1. They were totally embarrassed and they won't want that again. Offensively they have to get to the rim. If they are down by a small lead they have to know that big 3's wont save them. Get to the rim draw contact, get to the foul line. Attack Duncan and Nesterovic. Get them in foul trouble. Make them work defensively alot like what Yao/cato did to Shaq in game 1. So when Duncan is on offense things wont come so easily to him. Basically i am asking for a complete reverse of game 1 lol. This is the NBA and i know anything can happen. I am taking the Griz +11 or the best number i can get will post it in when i have it. Also the Over might be looked at depends if the line moves so much down. Doubt that would be a play tho cause of the defense of the Spurs. I would be hoping the Griz got them into an open court game so the Spurs couldn't rotate on the defensive end and get into a groove. Gl to all today.
