"I still haven't decided if Tim is playing," Popovich said. "We don't want to panic and overplay somebody else because someone went down and exacerbate the situation. We'll see...how he feels tomorrow. Then we'll make a decision." Don't be surprised if Popovich plays it conservatively and benches Duncan tonight, although he won't disclose his decision until just before game time.

LeBron James - F - Cavaliers

Despite battling the Lakers for the league's best record and home court all the way through the Finals, coach Mike Brown is still considering resting some of his key players, including LeBron James.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Mo Williams and Wally Szczerbiak are more likely to get a day off than LeBron, but it's up to Brown. "If I rest guys, then whatever happens, happens," Brown said. "LeBron is a big cog in our engine. If he's out, we could lose the game. The percentages are a lot higher than if he played." No need to panic, but it's possible that some Cavaliers could be on the verge of getting a night off. Apr. 8

Kind of irrelevant as I don't think he really makes them any better......

All things considered, we're expecting K-Mart to be in uniform against the top seed in the West on Thursday, but either way we should have more definitive info Thursday afternoon. Renaldo Balkman gets the start in Martin's absence on Wednesday.

Gilbert Arenas - G - Wizards

The Washington Post reports that there's a "99.99 percent chance" that Gilbert Arenas will not play in Wednesday's matchup with the Cavs.
The .01 percent is because Arenas is notoriously difficult to read, but all signs point toward him sitting out. Furthermore, it appears that Monday's matchup with Toronto will be his last appearance of the season. Apr. 8

Andrew Bynum - C - Lakers

The Orange County Register reports that Phil Jackson could clear Andrew Bynum (knee) to return to action on Thursday against the Nuggets.
The news on Bynum's return date has been somewhat inconsistent, and it appears that Phil Jackson has some concerns about having Bynum come back in what he considers an important game against Denver Thursday night. Apr. 8

Kevin Garnett - F - Celtics

Doc Rivers said on Wednesday that he hopes to have Kevin Garnett and Leon Powe back from their knee injuries before the end of the regular season.
No major developments in either case, as Garnett still has a chance to return to action on Tuesday against Philadelphia, while Powe's potential return date remains uncertain. In the meantime, Kendrick Perkins and Glen Davis should continue to enjoy increased production. Apr. 8

Fantasy Related But Great Info............

Is Duncan Going To Play?
If you're wondering why there weren't many (well, actually none) news blurbs this morning, it wasn't for a lack of trying. NBA news has just started to dry up, at least the morning variety. But there was enough injury news, along with strong performances, on Tuesday, to fill up an entire Daily Dose. And did you notice that I accidentally called yesterday's Dose the "Daily Does" in the tease? I kind of like it, but doubt we can officially call it that. In addition, it really would be more appropriate to title this column the "Daily Doesn't," as so much of what we report is bad news regarding guys sitting due to injury. Like…

Tim Duncan bounced back from a terrible game with 25 points, 15 boards and three blocks in last night's win over the Thunder. The Spurs go again tonight against the Blazers, and there's a decent chance Duncan won't play in order to rest his sore knees. Gregg Popovich said last night that he's yet to make a decision on Duncan, and you can bet he won't show his hand until just before game time. If Duncan does sit, it will be a curious decision to have played him against the Thunder instead of the Blazers, but then again, they needed everything he gave them on Tuesday night. My prediction is Duncan will miss at least one, and possibly two of the team's remaining five games.

Kings' shooting guard Kevin Martin had X-rays on his sore left ankle and a bone spur was revealed. Whether Martin plays again this year or not is a hot topic for debate, although he says he really doesn't want to shut it down. However, it's unclear if he'll play Thursday against the Rockets, and with the Kings season long over, I'm not sure why Martin and the team want him to continue to play through this. Add in the fact that he's probably going to need some minor surgery to remove the spur, along with the Kings' dismal record, and it just doesn't make sense for him to power on. While he hasn't been ruled out as of yet, my guess is he's going to be convinced to shut it down between now and Thursday night.

Spencer Hawes played for the Kings despite an eye injury and was fantastic, finishing with 21 points, 15 boards, three assists, a steal, two blocks and a 3-pointer. As long as his knee holds up long term, he's going to be a fantasy stud (and solid keeper option) with those threes and blocks.

Al Thornton's shoulder recently popped out of place for the second time and he is shutting it down for the year. He was a surprise DNP on Tuesday and is not expected to play another game for the Clippers this year. Chris Kaman, who has missed two straight, should be back from the flu on Friday. DeAndre Jordan went down last night with a strained Achilles, so the rest of his season is in doubt, and you have to think we've seen the last of Marcus Camby. Baron Davis appeared to tweak a hamstring last night, but stayed in the game, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-16 shooting, although he did fill the stat sheet up nicely. Big man Brian Skinner had 16 points, 14 boards and three blocks, and is worth a look if you can still make moves.

The Timberwolves will likely finish the season without Randy Foye (hip), while Rodney Carney missed Tuesday's game with a hip injury of his own. Ryan Gomes answered the call with 24 points, 13 boards and two threes, while Craig Smith returned from a calf injury for 16 points and seven rebounds. As long as Carney's out, Gomes should be a very safe play. Kevin Love returned from missing his first game of the year with the flu for 13 points, 15 boards and a block on 5-of-13 shooting.

Speculation in Oakland is that Monta Ellis has been 'closed for the season' and won't play again after hurting his surgically repaired ankle last week. He hasn't been heard from since, but it does sound like Andris Biedrins will be back in action tonight against Minnesota after missing almost a month with a sprained ankle. As most of you know, I was pretty down on Ellis all year and didn't even think he was really worth a pick up. I must admit that I was surprised at how good he looked upon his return, as well as by how many minutes the crazy Warriors were playing him. But the fact of the matter is that he was really only worth having in fantasy lineups from March 11 to April 1. So if that helped you win a championship, I stand corrected.

Anderson Varejao (wrist) and Ben Wallace (leg) are both expected to return for the Cavaliers on Wednesday against the Wizards. However, coach Mike Brown indicated on Tuesday that Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Mo Williams, Wally Szczerbiak, and yes, even LeBron James, may be getting a day (as in 'game') off in the near future. It sounds like they're going full bore against the Wiz tonight, but anything is possible after that.

Josh Howard looked good in his last game, but the Mavs are still pretty concerned about his ankle injury. I will be surprised if he plays in all five of their remaining regular-season games, and my guess is he misses Monday's game against the Timberwolves, if any.
<!--RW-->
Here's the rest of the injury run down in 'quick hits' form.

Raja Bell's season for the Bobcats may be over due to a calf injury.

Carl Landry returned from missing about a month after being shot in the leg and had eight points, five boards and a couple blocks for the Rockets.

Jared Jeffries took six stitches in the head and returned to the game, but let his owners and the Knicks down with four boards, three dimes and zero points.

Darko Milicic sat out the Grizzlies' loss with a right hamstring injury.

Andrea Bargnani played through the flu and had 15 points, two blocks and two threes for the Raptors, but was in foul trouble early and often in a loss to the Hawks.

Luol Deng's season is likely over due to a fractured tibia, although I'm not sure that qualifies as either a surprise or news.

Anthony Johnson missed Tuesday's loss to the Rockets with a scratched cornea, but it does sound like he'll return to action soon. Mickael Pietrus was also out with a sore knee and wrist.

Daequan Cook was a surprise DNP with a shoulder injury as the Heat fell to the Hornets in overtime.

The Washington Post is promising an update on Gilbert Arenas later today. Arenas, as usual, seems to have a different story and game plan every day, leaving his status for tonight's game against the Cavaliers completely up in the air. Stay tuned.

Tuesday's Game Studs and Duds

Nate Robinson was a full-fledged dud, hitting just 2-of-9 shots for six points and four assists as the Knicks crumbled down the stretch in a loss to the Bulls. Robinson appears to be back in the doghouse and the chances of them re-signing him appear to be slim. I benched Nate in favor of Beno Udrih this week, and feel pretty good about it after one game.

O.J. Mayo hit five 3-pointers for 31 points, four boards, four assists and two steals as the Grizzlies lost a tough one to the Blazers. While it looked for a minute like Mayo had hit the wall, he's on fire again, so make sure he's in your lineup.

Michael Beasley blew up for 25 points and nine boards off the Heat bench Tuesday. There has been a lot of chatter about why Beasley is still coming off the bench, but you have to think he becomes a starter next year. On the dud side of things, Jermaine O'Neal hit just 1-of-3 shots for two points and seven boards despite playing 35 minutes. What a bust, as JO hasn't hauled in more than eight boards in a single game in March or April. Yeah, I know he's playing on one leg, but still. Dwyane Wade had 32 points and a bunch of goodies before being ejected at the end of an overtime loss, and could get some discipline for his post-game comments, although not in the form of a suspension.

Peja Stojakovic moved back into the starting lineup last night and hit five 3-pointers for 24 points, six boards and four steals. He had really been struggling prior to last night's game, so congratulations if you somehow had him in your lineup. Chris Paul had 26 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and six steals for another stellar night. He was a little rough to own in those first few months when the Hornets weren't playing many games, but he's the main reason I have a 50-50 chance to steal the League Freak championship this week over the LeBron owner.

Raymond Felton had a career-high 32 points to go along with six boards, five assists and three 3-pointers as the Bobcats beat the Sixers last night.

Josh Smith's strong late-season play continued in a win over the Raptors, as he finished with 25 points, seven boards, two assists, two blocks and three 3-pointers. I'm not sure where they came from, but Smith has hit seven treys in his last four games.

Enjoy tonight's 11-game slate and good luck winning your league this week.

Fantasy Related But Great Info.........

Last Man Standing
At some point near the end of a Wild West shootout, you simply have to hunker down against the wall of your shanty/hideaway, check the cartridges in your revolver, look over at your partner (assuming he's not already dead) and realize that at this precise moment, your fate is more or less out of your hands.

Fortunately, we are not quite at that somewhat helpless juncture of the fantasy basketball season just yet, and there is still some last-minute, league-deciding wisdom to be gleaned. Here are a few important suggestions to consider in these last quiet moments before we dive through the front door guns blazing:

It's time to thaw out Peja Stojakovic.

He got dropped in some leagues after a long layoff due to back problems, but announced his return to relevance with a 24-point, five-trey, four-steal extravaganza in 46 minutes Tuesday night. If you need points and threes, there's production to be found here.

Don't forget about Leandro Barbosa.

Much like Stojakovic, Barbosa was cut in a decent number of leagues after his knee injury, but he's back and is ready to put up stats right now. In his last 18 games (excluding the one in which he injured his knee just two minutes in against Philly), the Blurry One has averaged 19.2 ppg, 3.6 apg, 1.9 spg and 1.8 threes. I'd probably consider Stojakovic first, but Barbosa is a very close second option.

Consider reacquainting yourself with D.J. Augustin.

With news that Raja Bell (calf) could potentially be done for the year, Augustin immediately becomes an intriguing waiver wire prospect. He had just eight points with six assists and two threes on Tuesday night, but most importantly, he played 31 minutes, his most since March 3. The rookie has quietly averaged 14.3 points and 2.1 threes in his last eight games off the bench, and he's capable of some big lines with an anticipated boost in minutes during the final week.

It's Michael Beasley time.

If you've somehow been stubborn enough to keep him on your roster this whole time, well done (but then again, if you didn't drop him, that might be a product of the fact that you haven't been paying attention to your team, and if you're not paying attention to your team then you're not reading this column, which means that at this point I'm basically just talking to myself).

In any case, Udonis Haslem is done for the regular season due to a gruesome thumb laceration which he described by telling the Miami Herald "I could see the meat" (and no, he was not referring to making it a Manwich night; he was referring to his own human flesh).

With Haslem done for the year (and momentarily making me consider vegetarianism before I realized for the fifteen-thousandth time that it's a terrible idea), Beasley has emerged to average 19.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 1.0 threes in his last two games, including a 25-point, nine-rebound, one-three outburst in a season-high 48 minutes off the bench in an OT loss Tuesday night. He still isn't regularly contributing defensive stats, but the boost in points and rebounds (coupled with the potential for threes and a small smattering of steals and blocks) makes Beasley well worth a look.

A reminder: For exclusive stat projections, player rankings and more, check out Rotoworld's MLB Season Pass.

Don't forget Drew Gooden.

We're digging deeper and deeper here into home stretch possibilities, and while I wouldn't recommend adding Gooden in a 10-team league, the largely forgotten big man can help owners in deeper formats. In his last three games, Gooden has averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks, highlighted by a 20-point, four-rebound, two-block effort against the Thunder in 29 minutes Tuesday, his highest minute total since Jan. 12. To be clear, Gooden isn't a consistent shot-blocker or a savior of a fantasy option, but with Tim Duncan possibly missing another game or two before the season's done, he's worth a look the rest of the way.

Don't have too much pride to capitalize on injuries in Clipperland.

Quite simply, the Clippers' frontcourt is decimated. To summarize: Zach Randolph is suspended through Friday, Chris Kaman is out with the flu, DeAndre Jordan could be finished with an Achilles' injury and Al Thornton and Marcus Camby appear to be done for the season. Someone has to pick up the minutes with all those absences, and the most preferable of those someones are Brian Skinner and Fred Jones, in that order.

In his last two games, Skinner has averaged 11.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks and is certainly capable of continuing to produce at a high level. The possibility of Kaman returning on Friday won't help, and neither will the anticipated return of Randolph on Saturday, but either way Skinner should be able to get 25-plus minutes, which is all he really needs to make an impact in rebounds and blocks (particularly in a deeper league).

As for Jones, he's certainly not a savior (why, after all, would I put him this far down in the column if he was?), but he has been playing a ton (37 minutes per game in his last four), averaging a useful 8.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.3 apg, 2.0 spg and 1.5 threes during that span.

Before you go out there into that madness, just triple-check one more time to make sure that your pistol is loaded.

I know you've already checked it meticulously, but trust me, there's nothing worse than diving into a gunfight in the streets of a Wild West town only to realize that your pistol is empty. Happened to me once in 1882 and again in '86. To be frank, there are few things more demeaning than realizing you're out of bullets, then having to throw your gun at an adversary and run away. But then again, at this point in the fantasy basketball season – as is the case in Old West shootouts – most of us are willing to do pretty much whatever it takes just to survive a few more days.

Rajon Rondo - G - Celtics

All indications are that Rajon Rondo (ankle) will be in the starting lineup against the Nets on Wednesday.
The Boston Globe talks about Rondo matching up with Nets' PG Devin Harris, but makes no mention of the ankle he sprained on Monday night. In this case, no news should be considered good news, and it appears that it's safe to keep Rondo active for Wednesday night. Apr. 8

Anderson Varejao - F/C - Cavaliers

As anticipated, Anderson Varejao (wrist) will play against the Wizards on Wednesday.
Even though Ben Wallace is returning to action, it should be safe to keep Varejao active as Wallace attempts to work his way back into game shape. Apr. 8
