Mardy Collins – calf – Value run is over with Baron back.
Chris Kaman – foot – No target date. I've given up. Clips are terrible.
Kobe Bryant – flu – Should play Tues. vs. Thunder.

Rudy Gay – hip – Surprise DNP Saturday, iffy for tonight.
Darrell Arthur – personal – Not much value when he's playing.
Kyle Lowry – ankle – It's Conley's world now.
Dwyane Wade – eye – Needed 6 stitches Sunday, but he's fine.

Desmond Mason – knee surgery – Year over. Hello, Earl.
Jameer Nelson – shoulder – Surgery coming. I think season is over.
Elton Brand – shoulder – Ditto, except season is definitely over.
Steve Nash – shoulder – Playing, but hurts to shoot from long range.
Steve Blake – shoulder – Should be worth owning after break.
Martell Webster – foot – No impact this season.
Bobby Jackson – birth of child – Missed Sunday, should play two this week.
Brad Miller – hip – Out until after break. Hello, Spencer.
Manu Ginobili – hip – Playing through it.
Chris Bosh – knee – Shut down 'til break. Raps are
bad, will he finish?
Brevin Knight – quad – If it's not one thing, it's another. Useless.
Kyrylo Fesenko – flu – No value when healthy.
Andrei Kirilenko – ankle surgery – Maybe right after break, maybe not.
Carlos Boozer – knee – Talking good game, we'll see when he returns.
DeShawn Stevenson – back – Youth movement coming in backcourt.
Andray Blatche – knee – On verge of return. Watch closely.
Gilbert Arenas – knee – You still think he's coming back? Really?
Injury Notes
I honestly don't even know where to begin, so let's just go team-by-team notes today. If I ignored a team, it means there's not much news going on with them right now, or at least, that's what it should mean.
Atlanta Hawks
For the Hawks,
Joe Johnson returned from his flu bug, but lost
Mike Bibby to a foot injury. Mike Woodson has no idea if Bibby will play Tuesday and I don't either. But if I had to guess, I would say he plays. Obviously you'll want to go with a safer option this week if you have one.
Charlotte Bobcats
Raja Bell's groin will keep him out until after the break and
D.J. Augustin looked great last night. Rick Kamla said on his fantasy show this morning that Augustin will start the rest of the way for the Cats, but I'm not sure that's true unless they make another trade. But if DJA was cut in your league, grab him and stash him until we see what happens.
Gerald Wallace's injury is pretty freakish and it sounds like he's about ready to go. I doubt he plays this week, but he should be ready to roll after the break. If you own him, you might enjoy reading
this.
Chicago Bulls
Drew Gooden could play in a game this week and his return will hurt
Joakim Noah. Then again, Gooden's injury is tricky and he could aggravate it at any time. I would bench both players this week if possible.
Cleveland Cavs
Sasha Pavlovic re-injured his ankle last night,
Wally Szczerbiak is playing with a broken nose and a freakish-looking mask, and
Delonte West is ready to return right after the break for the Cavs. Grab Delonte and get ready to use him in the next couple weeks.
Dallas Mavericks
Jason Terry's hand injury benefits J.J. Barea first and foremost, but
Dirk Nowitzki,
Josh Howard and possibly even
Brandon Bass should get extra touches as well.
Jason Kidd figures to do more, but said he won't even try to score more unless the "situation calls for it" – whatever that means. Terry may need surgery, so we really don't know much yet, other than he'll miss "several weeks."
Golden State Warriors
Andris Biedrins still isn't sure when he'll return from his ankle injury, but it sounds like he avoided disaster. But having seen the injury on television, I think he might be overly optimistic thinking he will return on Feb. 18. I'm going to play Turiaf this week and then hold on until I see Biedrins return to the court. And even then, Turiaf was starting to get minutes before AB went down, so I recommend holding Turiaf until further notice.

Indiana Pacers
You see that quote about his knee injury from
Mike Dunleavy in today's blurbs? "We're going to have to figure it out (Monday)," Dunleavy said. "There's really nothing to talk about right now." He's iffy for the rest of the week, but I'm not holding my breath. And while there has been no mention of an X-ray or MRI, that doesn't mean they aren't happening. Bench him for now and say a prayer if you own him.
Jarrett Jack was already looking like a solid pick up before this news and now
Marquis Daniels is relevant again, so keep your eye on them. Only problem is that Daniels is hurting with a sore back right now as well. Then there's
Danny Granger and his one leg. He looked amazing again on Friday and Sunday and says there's no way he's going to miss the All-Star Game or 3-point shoot out with his bum knee. OK with me, but I'm still worried about his knee after the break, especially when the Pacers are eliminated from the postseason.
L.A. Clippers
Got an email from a guy asking if he should pick up
Chris Kaman because he'll "be back soon." I have not heard that and think that holding Kaman may be a big waste of time unless you're in a very deep league.
L.A. Lakers
Andrew Bynum's knee injury could go either way. I still contend he's useless for the regular season, but many owners are still holding on and hoping that he only misses a month. That's entirely possible at this point and I'm still kinda mad at the Lakers for being so conservative with his timetable if he really does only miss four weeks. We shall see.
Kobe Bryant left the court early yesterday with the flu and while it might make him a little iffy for tomorrow against the Thunder, I am betting he plays. The Thunder seem to really get up to play the good teams, so the Lakers will have to focus on not looking ahead.
Memphis Grizzlies
As a
Rudy Gay owner in most leagues, I'm pretty nervous about his hip injury. Not worried too much because it shouldn't keep him out long term, but nervous about playing him this week. Hopefully we get an update today, but I'm not counting on it. And if we don't, I may just bench him.
Milwaukee Bucks
Ramon Sessions looks like Superman with the loss of
Luke Ridnour and should be great for a month. But don't be surprised if Scott Skiles puts Sessions right back on the shelf when Luke returns. I know, I don't understand it either and it remains one of the great fantasy hoops mysteries in the last five years.
Andrew Bogut is probably done for the year with a back injury so keep your eye on
Francisco Elson.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Al Jefferson's two big lines were the story of the weekend until he outdid himself by going down and hearing a "pop" in his knee last night. He says it's not as bad as his last knee injury because it doesn't hurt as bad, but I'm not really sure that matters here. Any way you slice it, the news won't be good. Best-case scenario probably has him missing a couple weeks, while worst-case has him done for the year with a torn ACL. Those are my opinions, not a real doctor's. Hopefully we get some information later today, but obviously Jefferson should be benched until further notice. And with
Craig Smith (ribs) also hurting,
Rodney Carney,
Ryan Gomes and
Kevin Love all deserve a look right now.
New Jersey Nets
Vince Carter says he'll play through is elbow injury on Tuesday, but the Nets play just one game this week. Bench him.
Yi Jianlian is due back shortly after the break which is going to hurt
Ryan Anderson. Unless coach Lawrence Frank gets creative and figures a way to play the two young bigs together, they're going to step on each other's value the rest of the way.
New Orleans Hornets
Chris Paul could play a game or two this week, but unless we get some definite information today, I'd probably lean toward benching him. The New Orleans papers are pretty good with giving us updates when they hit though, so hopefully we'll know in time for today's lineup deadlines. (Sorry if you're in a Yahoo! weekly league – I still have no idea why they have that deadline set for Monday mornings in the middle of the night, but it is what it is).
Tyson Chandler is getting closer to a return from his sprained ankle, but leave him on the bench until after the break. There are also a lot of trade rumors swirling about Chandler, but you can say that about a ton of NBA players right now.
David West took
Mike Miller out in frustration with a Flagrant 2 last night and could get a one-game suspension today. Again, we should know something later on.
Sacramento Kings
Brad Miller is out through the break with his lingering hip injury and you have to wonder if
Spencer Hawes will give up the starting job again now that he's got it. In case Kenny Natt hasn't noticed, the Kings are just 11-41 and Miller appears to have no future with the team. If you still own Hawes, or if he's available, go ahead and grab him. My guess is he's good for the long haul.
Toronto Raptors
Oh boy…
Chris Bosh's knee injury is pretty scary stuff and the Raptors have failed miserably this season as the Jermaine O'Neal experiment was a fiasco. The Raps are just 19-34 and Bosh's knee is suffering from "wear and tear." This thing has "shutdown" written all over it, but it's anyone's guess as to when it will happen. Kamla just traded Bosh and
John Salmons for
Paul Millsap and
Lamar Odom, if that tells you how scared he is.
Jose Calderon's hamstring has to be a concern too. He hurts it one more time, you have to wonder at what point the Raps just throw in the towel and run the scrubs out there.
Utah Jazz
Andrei Kirilenko is hoping to return from ankle surgery right after break, but I don't think he had even started running when he made that statement. Just like with
Carlos Boozer, I'm going to remain cautious about believe time frames I'm hearing about these guys. I think they are somewhat close to a return, but I would also not be surprised if both players didn't play a game in February. Just keep them benched until we hear something from doctors and find out what they look like in practice before going nuts. That said, both players should be owned again in all leagues. And I'm not sure if
Paul Millsap's knee is still bothering him or what, but he's really cooled off lately. And if Boozer really is on the verge of playing soon, Millsap's timing couldn't be worse.
Washington Wizards
Andray Blatche sounds like he's about ready to return from a knee injury, so keep an eye on him. The
JaVale McGee run looks like it's about to end again, but if the Wizards don't start giving him 30 minutes a night they should be ashamed of themselves for not getting him ready for the future. Why they are even bothering to put guys like
Mike James,
DeShawn Stevenson and
Juan Dixon on the court is confusing to me, but I guess they can't just play five players. And if you're still holding Mr. Arenas in hopes of a miraculous return, good luck with that one.
