The Heat are still outscoring their opponents when Shaq is on the bench. That should say something about his declining value. He still is quite a load, but he is in a spot now where he isn't carrying the team which is just the role he needs. If he had to carry the Heat now he probably would have one more decent year left in him. Being able to have Wade make big plays could extend the quality of his contribution another year or two.
The most revealing thing out of that analysis is look at Antoine Walker. The C's are winning with him, but can you blame the Hawks for dumping him off? The guy is a cancer and everyone has known it. In the long run you can't win with guys like that. Just a warning for those that want to get excited about the C's in the playoffs, this guy could end up costing them if he reverts back to old form of shooting ridiculous shots and killing key possessions at the end of games with some off balance 25 footer that never has a chance.
