Remember, hockey fans tell us the NHL is on par with NBA in terms of viewership and ratings and complain about how the league is not discussed enough.

Those ratings tell you why.

NBA is out setting record ratings on ABC, while the NHL can't even get a 3.0 on primetime nbc broadcasting.

I bet Copa America will get a higher cumulative score than the stanley cupfinals.

Meanwhile NBA looks great and is the 2nd major league in this country with MLB continually falling further and further behind.

I expect NBA game 3 will score somewhere in the middle between the 13.1 and 11.8. Maybe a 12.5ish.

I'm wondering if Game 3 will even make it to the 11.8. Most people I know shut the game off for the fourth quarter as it was so one-sided it wasn't even interesting. I'm a big NBA fan and I'd have to agree with their assessment. It seems like most people are writing Cleveland off. I can envision many fans to making it a must see for game 3 because of what happened i in the first two games.

Game 1 of the Sharks/Penguins Stanley Cup Final earned a 2.7 overnight rating on NBC Monday night, down 36% from Blackhawks/Lightning last year (4.2) and down 29% from Rangers/Kings in 2014 (3.8). Coverage aired opposite Game 7 of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals on TNT, which had an 11.2 overnight. The Penguins’ win earned the lowest overnight for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final since Kings/Devils four years ago (2.4) and the third-lowest since NBC began carrying the opener in 2009.

The 2.7 is the second-lowest for any Stanley Cup Final game since 2012, ahead of only Kings/Rangers Game 3 in 2014 — a game that aired on NBCSN (2.5). Each of last year’s Blackhawks/Lightning games scored at least a 2.9, and the four on NBC scored at least a 3.8.

The last time a Stanley Cup Final game took place on Memorial Day, Game 2 of Flyers/Blackhawks scored a 4.1 overnight rating. There was no NBA competition that year.

TNT game getting a 11.2...That`s pretty damn good.

I wonder what ABC is getting.

I found game 2 NBA finals Sunday night.

Though no match for last year, or Game 1 for that matter, the second game of the NBA Finals did well.

Game 2 of the Cavaliers/Warriors NBA Finals drew a 9.7 rating and 17.4 million viewers on ABC Sunday night, according to Nielsen fast-nationals — down 10% in ratings and 9% in viewership from the same matchup last year (10.8, 19.2M) but up 8% and 15%, respectively, from Heat/Spurs in 2014 (9.0, 15.1M).

Figures do not include viewership on WatchESPN (267K) or ESPN Deportes. The Warriors’ 33-point rout peaked with 19.4 million viewers from 10-10:30 PM ET, a full five million fewer than last year’s Game 2 peak of 24.4 million. That game went to overtime.

Despite the lower numbers, Sunday’s blowout trails only last year as the most-watched Game 2 of the NBA Finals since 76ers/Lakers in 2001 (18.7M). It also ranks as the fourth-highest rated Game 2 over that span, behind last year, Heat/Thunder in 2012 (10.4) and Pistons/Lakers in 2004 (10.7).

Of the eight Cavaliers/Warriors NBA Finals games, it was the lowest rated and least-watched — and the first to post a decline from the previous year. It was also the first of those games to earn a single-digit rating, assuming it does not climb into the double-digits when the final ratings are released.

Through two games, the NBA Finals is averaging 18.3 million viewers on ABC — down less than one percent from last year (18.32M to 18.27M) and the second-best average since ABC began carrying the event in 2003.
