Imagine you are starting a brand new NBA franchise. You can have any famous teammate duo at their prime in NBA history to start with. Who would you choose?

Magic Johnson and James Worthy
Larry Bird and Kevin McHale
Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen
Jerry West and Elgin Baylor
Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler
Karl Malone and John Stockton
Walt Frazier and Willis Reed
Other.

KINGO818 I thought about Alcindor and Oscar. The problem was that Oscar was really at the twi-light of his great career by the time he played in Milwaukee. Personally I am not sold on MJ and Scottie as hands down choices. Sure they won more titles, but against what kind of competition? Magic and Worthy went head to head against Bird and McHale several times.

Hakeem and Clyde would have been truly magnificent if they played their entire careers together! No doubt they could have beaten Chicago....Clyde nearly did it in Portland (who didn`t have another great player) Drexler is underrated because of where he played most of his career...

The duo`s on this list are all so great...I would take Hakeem Olajuwon at his prime he was the most beautiful center ever...Inside and outside he was very unique, no other center really had his type of skills...

If you could rearrange their careers so both were in their prime, it would be hard to beat Dr. J and Moses Malone. They dominated the one year together winning the title, but both were already going past their primes.

Wild Bill - good point. I thought about Moses but for some reason The Doc never came to mind. Malone was a stone monster in his prime. The one thing about all the players mentioned so far is their remarkable longevity. They all played a long time, with Magic possibly the lone exception (understandably).
