According to reports, an eight-player trade is in the works that will send Nick Van Exel from the Dallas Mavericks to the Golden State Warriors for Antawn Jamison. Jamison was the Warriors' leading scorer last season, averaging more than 22 points per game. Van Exel, who came to Dallas from Denver in a seven-player trade in February 2002, was the Mavericks' leading scorer off the bench last season.

Atleast GS is doing better & trying to climb the ladder of respectability. They had a major blow though in my opinion when they lost Arenas.

But Jamison is so underated.

Got to hand it to Cuban. He doesn't sit on his hands ever. Haven't had anywhere near the same team each year he's been there.

I think Jamison going to Dallas would really be key for them...Plus Van Exel is older and has no upside...The rest of the trade better favor GS , because the top end looks more like GS losing another cornerstone type player...

Dallas projected starters Nash, Finley, Nowitski and Jamison , pretty formidable, 4 legit scorers.

damn, fortson is a steal as a so-called throw in, remember about 2-3 years ago, when he got to play he was the third leading rebounder in the league.

dallas has to have easily the best talent in the league now. will see if the chemistry works now.

De Niro nailed it. Why go for another scorer when what you need is D and rebounds?

I still won't believe a trade is through until an official announcement. Rumors fly every day. In the past three years I can name only a handful of players that haven't been on the trading block (at least for the rumor mill):

Kobe
Shack
Duncan
Yao
Nowitzki
Webber
McGrady

Everybody else, and I mean EVERYBODY, has bee on the trading floor according to someone.

I can't believe Dallas would trade Van Excel, Didn't anyone watch the playoffs when Nowitzki was out of the series against San Antonio due to injury, Van excel basically carried that team with his scoring and passing abilities creating shots for other members of the team. I agree with deniro, Jamison won't help as much as what van excel did for that team. They need a big defensive player like what san antonio got in nestorovich or brad miller in sacramento. Dallas will still be a top team, But I seem them coming in third in there division behind the Spurs and Timberwolves.

Anyone who doesn't think that the Mavs got the best of this deal i want to ask you what planet are you from??? Jamison is a legit all star but will not make the team because of the depth at the forward position in the west. He was the Warriors team leader now for 4 seasons. This guy has mad game and i very underrated. He is a complets player with hardly any weaknesses. Van Exel on the other hand is a lot older than Jamison and is not a good guy in the locker room. He has a tendency to get down on himself when things aren't going right and he can be a ball hog. Jamison is completely the opposite. This trade is so one sided it is pathetic. On top of this Dallas gets a banger inside in Fortson and a journeyman in Mills. I still can't believe the Warriors were dumb enough to make this trade. THeir whole 2003-4 season is now down the tube. They trade for two players that are also suppose to retire in Popeye Jones and Avery Johnson. The Warriors now have 4 point guards inlcuding Van Exel,Johnson, Claxton, and Boykins. The Warriors might have the worst management in sports right now. This trade was just plain ludicrous. Musselman must now look to Richardson to lead this team. That is not going to happen. Jason is a terrible shooter and the only thin he did right last year was dunk the ball for the most part. He had many bad nights where he just looked lost. He sat on the bench for long stretches of time and never even played down the stretch for the most part. What a deal the Mavs get in landing some help inside and a quality peformer like Jamison. I do no think we have seen the best of Jamsion yet. This guy can hoop and run the floor. He suits the Mavs style perfectly. Cuban made a big step in trying to catch the Lakers, Spurs, Kings, and the Wolves. The power on those teams this year is mind blowing.

The Warriors could exchange their entire team with the Clippers. Think anyone would notice?

Superwimp: Webber probably can be had. I also don't remember any deals involving Pierce.

I think Gary Saint Jean smokes CRACK first off. I mean come on, what is going on herrrrrrr????????? I really think there is some kind of conspiracy that Gary St. Jean and David Stern have together. I think the Golden State Warriors, are a "Feeder" team in order to build up other NBA franchises who are looking for what they need in order to have a championship calibur team. Come on, it's easy if you think about it, my ho0me team is the "always Going to Be a Sub .500" Golden State Warriors. This is just another POOR decision by Warriors management. Get rid of fortson, and Whoever else it was. Welsch, theres just another example of of how this organization Screwed their fans. They take these European players with no-upside to them. Didn't they learn already by taking Jiri Welch?? Now Michael Pitreius, I mean COME ON??? They are now expecting Mike Dunleavy to step in for Jamieson and his 22 pt average/game. Wow, sorry just needed to vent on how Stupid I think that the Golden State Warriors Organization is. They need to get a New Owner, and stop the Shenanagans with David Stern. The Warriors in my 15 years as a basketball fan haven't done anything since Run TMC, Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullen, and that's wasn't that pretty. The management of this team has time and time again gone to extravagant lengths to make this team worse than it already is.

This trade was just another example of how I think there is a Conspiracy associated with the NBA, David Stern, and THe Owner of the GS Warriors. The Warriors are a "FEEDER" team. A team in which helps other teams get better. Not to mention teams in their own division. sorry for Blabing on and on. It just makes me Sickened thinking about the team that I "try to want" to root for.

the hog

You couldn't have said it better than you just did! The trade is a joke and what those guys are doing to the fans over there is a disgrace. Just when things start looking little brighter over there they pull this kind of stuff out of their ass. Their is no way Dunleavy will fill in and do anything close to what Jamison did. Antwan was the franchise! Dunleavy is now playing in the NYC summer league at Rucker Park an looks like a scared kitten out there. I don't know if he will ever be ready for big minutes and the career that some people think he might have. He is just too feable and he is the kind of guy who is better suited coming off the bench. I hope you guys out there don't even show up for the games out there! Run St. Jean out of town. What a Quack!

Deniro- THose two guys can easily interchange positions between the 3 and the 4. It shouldn't be too big of a deal for them. It should make Dallas stronger. Now they got somebody to go to on the front line besides Nowitzski. They should be just fine. A starting lineup of Nash,Finley,Jamison,Nowitzski, and LaFraentz is not too shabby. 4 Gusy that are very good scorers and one that is streaky. If they add one more tough big guy to their lineup that can defend watch out. Najera just can't do it all by himself and Antwan will help a smidgeon in that category.
