How about a crossover where there is no minimum for either sport as long as you get the required monthly plays in? In other words you could do all nba or all nhl if you want.

I too would prefer a separation of the sports but am fine with the crossovers.

This might satisfy everybody. Fine by me if we go this route.

If we went with this, to make options equal, I'd offer ML's for both but a limit on plays with odds no higher than -300/+300

Let's do the crossover and allow guys to bet all NHL or NBA if they choose too. How do we proceed with signup. Like I said I can do the grading for the contest (if it helps).

For the players who have indicated that they want to do one sport only, do you have any objection to the contest having both sports available as long as you can wager on only your sport of choice?

*Let's get this thing rolling and start sign-ups for November 1. Admin fee is a must, obviously.

I am big proponent of MAX plays 3 games per day, that makes it a month long contest and not a hot streak contest - but I support whatever format everyone agrees on.

Yeah. Let’s shoot for the crossover NBA/NHL with no minimums. Looks like this would be the most appealing to all.

Others can weigh in if I’m being presumptuous. Just wanting to get this going.

As always, thanks for the assistance JOH.

How about a split pot 25% for the most NBA units & 25% for the most NHL units ... and then 50% to the overall units winner.

This may make it more appealing to people who just want to play the NBA. I would say that if enough people who are on the fence joined anyways it would give more popularity to the contest and would raise our chances of having a separate NBA/NHL contest down-the-road. (run on sentence)

Cough up $100 and have some fun, what is the big deal?

I would like to raise the stakes to $150 if we did the split pot. I think it is a good idea for now.

***Others please share your opinion about this ~ thanks

Better idea (possibly)

NBA/NHL Mixed Contest

Buy-in $150 + $15 (admin) = $165

100% Broken up like this:

33% Overall Units Entrant
33% to entrant with most NBA units
33% to entrant with most NHL units
--------------------------------------------

10 Entrants $1500

$500 for NBA
$500 for NHL
$500 for Overall

*There is a good possibility that the people who are at the top of the NHL or NBA units will be fighting for the $500 overall cash prize. It would also make it a little more interesting I think, it adds a little twist to things.

Except now a minimum # of plays comes into play for each sport in order to qualify which is what we were trying to avoid.

I'd be in for NBA only or crossover with this format would be OK too.

Any momentum to advocate for this format?

$110 Entry Fee ($100 Pot - $10 Admin)

Min 70 Plays Per Month (total plays under 70 charged -1.5 units (-150))
Max 75 Plays Per Month (All plays over 75 will not count)

37 Play Minimum Per Sport in order to qualify for prize money.
4 Play Max Per Day (Excess plays will be NO ACTION.) Do not have to be consecutive.

Two 3u plays allowed per calendar month. Both can be on the same sport.
All other plays will be 1u plays.

Deadline to submit plays will be 7:00 PM ET every day.

33% Overall Units Entrant
33% to entrant with most NBA units
33% to entrant with most NHL units

Essentially, you're playing for minimum 67% of the pot and possibly 100%.

70 play minimum to qualify for any prize...
37 play min for 1 sport qualifies for 67% - 33% for that sport & 33% for Overall
37 play min for both sports qualifies for 100%

Is it possible to have separate NBA and NHL contests? If this would cause too much hassle for you, quickly scratch that idea JOH.

With due respect to the NHL players (which I enjoy as well), seems like NBA would get us the most players to start.

Then after football is done NHL can be revisited?

I'd like to see both but recognize the toll it could take on JOH.

Not sure if you mean separate contests in the same month or just NBA for a month or two and then NHL. Either way, we probably need entry fees for both.
