She held up very strong through a long hard day yesterday! She finally broke down when she was handed the flag and kissed Mr. Reagans coffin for the last time! It sucks that the "MEDIA" puts that picture on every paper possible! They were probably praying for her to cry to get those pictures, morons!! Anyhow she looked terrific for 81. God Bless You Nancy!!

Jim,

I agree. Watching the sunset serive late last night brought tears to my eyes. It was the most touching funeral service I have ever witnessed.

The three children and the Pasteur spoke wonderfully, with the adopted Son impressing me the most...

If you missed it, I doubt you will see anything like it again...

Inspiring to say the least, I watched as did my 7 year old daughter who`s tears I felt dropping on my shoulder behind me .

They don`t make love affairs like this much anymore...I wish they did

What I liked was when George Bush senior and wife walked in a decent welcome, When Bush JR. walked in and his wife a very cold greeting! Bill Clinton looked to his left and said hi, while Hillary didn't even make EYE contact with them!! And the Sheik in the second row constantly looking at his watch with his legs folded! Moron!! Wonder how Hillary will act when she buries Bill!! Nanacy said she lost her BEST FRIEND AND LOVER!

How is this any different than any other funeral?

I'm sure most of us have lost friends, grandparents, etc ...

are those deaths any less tragic?

I'd say they're more - most of us weren't blessed with a fairy tale life.

Then again, this is still a huge step forward - last week half of you degenerates were inspired by a second place mule.

Jim,
Do you think that Reagan is flattered?

Wouldn't that excess of money spent on a week-long funeral have been better served, I dunno, feeding starving children?

Or are you a firm subscriber into the "but he's special" theory?

Anybody know what Ronnie Reagan Jr. said @ the funeral?

Something like "My dad never wore his religion on his sleeve, and never felt he had a mandate from God...unlike some other politicians."

Obvious shot @ Bush Part II.

Do you think every funeral is a waste of money? Average funeral costs more than $5,000.

- I most certainly do believe that funeral costs are a complete waste of money.

The reason I pointed this one out is that it most likely exceded the average cost several thousand times - making it several thousand times worse.

And that being said, what isn`t a waste of money?

From a candy bar .72 cents, to a courtside NBA ticket $1000, to flying into space gazillions!!!???

Some things just have to be done, this was one...

I will try to come up with the best bargain in the world , give me a few minutes lol

Yeah, millions of dollars HAD to be done.

It was a complete necessity.
The world would have come to halt without that gross over-expenditure.

There's a world of difference between the idea of "wanting" something and "needing" something, but this is a notion that few Americans seem to grasp.

I'm not sure if it's an issue of poor education or simple human greed, but it's certainly a problem.

While I don't think it would've been appropriate to simply dump Reagan in a ditch and toss some dirt on him, I actually agree with Lander's opinion that funerals are mostly a waste of money.

Think of all the money that a family spends on weddings and funerals. Could be $20,000, could be $50,000, etc.

In the long-run, I think the family would experience much more happiness if they used that money to create wealth.

Would you rather have a nice wedding when you're 26, or would you rather retire when you're 50?

As for me, I'm gonna be pissed if my family blows several grand on my funeral. Just cremate my body and buy a couple kegs. Party!

"Everybody wants to live,
Nobody wants to die.
When I pass away,
Party don't cry."

I hope Ronnie & Nancy will forgive me for not knowing this was even still going on. WOW! It's been atleast a week. Sorry for my lack of interest last night, but I had WNBA games to look over.

RIP Ronnie. We are not long from joining you.

Funky,
That is a great question. I'm not sure what the root of over-expendature thinking is - maybe it's that we live in the "charge it" generation.

I think we're in the minority when it comes to appreciating strong fiscal responsibility, and what really scares me is when the, now 20, 30 and 40 year olds emerge as world leaders they might make Bush's sickening deficits seem "conservative."

Where does it stop?

I don't want to foot the bill for other's incompetence.

Oh God, I sound like a GOPer

Best bargain in the world:

Double cheeseburger @ McDonald's, $1.

490 calories, 25g protein.

Wish it didn't have so much fat (240 calories from fat), but if your other meals are low-fat, you should be ok.

I was putting it into relative terms, comparing the spending thats wasted around the world to honoring a leader who`s life just ended...

Money is wasted in much worse ways, we could go on and on...by the govt and by society

What about convicted death row inmates who aren`t executed for 17-18 yrs?

My pet peeve though, is the ridiculous amount of money wasted on wrapping paper!!! Talk about something that is absolutely worthless, you can also throw in the overpriced greetings cards....

Between the two items (wrapping paper and cards) what do you think is spent worldwide?

LOL- wrapping paper serves no purpose and is consumed by just about everyone
