FairWarning, you're absolutely right about ND-USC. I was there a couple year ago when ND got pasted, but the atmosphere was unreal nonetheless. That whole weekend was insane...and I've gotta give the fans some credit, not only do they not sit down the entire game, but they also didn't leave after the game was clearly decided after the 1st half. Not one damned person left. They're loyal to the extreme.

I'll most likely be there for the USC game this year...I'm gonna go to Pitt to visit a friend and check out the opener. Should be a great game. My brother goes to ND, so he'll be there for every game tailgating and whatnot, so you should get ahold of him. He'll be at Pitt as well, and probably the Big House for the Michigan game. His handle is DSethi.

Going to a Notre Dame game is just a unique experience. I'm dying to go to LSU, Florida, A&M, and a bunch of other places as well.

LETS GOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!! Awesome atmoshphere.

If "awesome atmosphere" means throwing bottles, batteries, spitting...and burning sofas...then yes, WVU has an awesome atmosphere.

I have been to all the Big12 stadiums with the exception of Mizzouri, Iowa State, Texas Tech and KSU.Kyle Field is without a doubt the best place to watch a football game. Nebraska is my second choice because the college bars are all within walking distance of the stadium and it is always sold out and they have a long tradition of winning.

Other than those two, none of the Big 12 Game Day experiences are all that awesome.

and dont forget at Kyle Field in College Station, Tx the game starts the night before as 30,000 or so drunk college students show up at midnight for midnight yell practice. If you ever have the chance to attend this it is amazing.

Man I miss college.

Santa Ana Bowl- CSFullerton

Rail - we played our last season - 1992 - at our on campus stadium - right across from Goodwin - as you know. that was just as empty as Santa Ana Bowl

i know most people have never seen a game @ SA Bowl - but it was a riot - funny that is

one of the goalposts wasn't right. one of the uprights was straight up and down - but the other one was crooked - and exteneded out about 2-3 yards out onto the field of play so a kicker who might normally shank one wide left might still make the FG because the upright was closer to him

also - one day in 1991 - we are playing Northridge. as usually - it was a "packed" crowd of about 2,000 - if that. we NEVER sat where we were supposed to - just where we felt like it. midway thru the SECOND quarter - some guy enters the place and he looks at his seat - where i am sitting - then back at his ticket - and he is about to tell me i am sitting in his seat - even though just about every other seat in the place is empty. just as he is ready to open his mouth i tell him, "I don't care if i am in your seat - there are empty seats everywhere else - go sit in one of them" - and he did that - sitting about 3 rows away.

Notre Dame Stadium is a straight throwback venue. If you're all about jumbotrons, quick-updated out-of-town scoreboards, game highlights, etc. then this ISN'T the place for you. You can't even see a replay, there is absolutely no technology to allow for this.
That being said, the place is a straight THROWBACK. You go, you cheer your ass off doing all the ND cheers (some cool, some just retarded), throw up the X for Zahm Hall (haha doubt anyone knows what i'm talking about), and go nuts for 4 quarters. Not to mention getting hammered with a bunch of old alumni. If you go, go a day early and try to get into the pep rally on Friday night. Chances are, you'll see someone special speaking, Theisman, Montana, Dusty Baker, etc.
Can't wait to watch ND-USC, I'll put $$$ right now that ND doesn't lose a game this year by more than 17 points. I don't think Weiss will allow anything to get out of hand this year.
That being said, the Big House was crazy but the fans are definitely passive. there just happens to be so many of them that you have a hard time discerning this.
Oh, and did i forget to mention Touchdown Jesus?

Didn't much care for it, hell no vendors even came by the whole game. Needed to go down each time to get a fresh coke to mix my booze with while watching the Huskers beat their ass.

Huskers never beat ND's ass, if i remember right Nebraska was supposed to smoke ND, and with all the betrayers giving tix to NEbraska fans, 1/3 of the stadium was red, yet Julius Jones and Joey Getherall took us to Overtime in what was a hell of a game. Definitely not an assbeating, unless you're referring to another game.
No vendors, hey like i said, it's a throwback. The whole concept of consumer-oriented servicing hasn't hit the 'Bend yet. But you can't blame ND when you've got 8-10 K students, and 70,000 fans come every home weekend for a game- and that's not mentioning the ridiculous waiting list for any available tix.
If you didn't care for ND much, maybe you didn't catch some of the pregame festivities around campus and off?
