14.5 million for 2017 was gauranteed

No it was not.

Why did these new negotiations happen?
-From the 49ers’ side, they wanted to protect themselves from Kaepernick incurring more injuries and potentially guaranteeing his $14.5M salary for 2017 (if he couldn’t pass the physical this April 1). Remember, they’ve never intended on paying him that or any further salary past 2016.
-From Kaepernick’s side, he wanted to make sure he could play this season (I don’t think the 49ers would’ve prevented him from playing without the contract adjustment, but it was a possibility) and also this new agreement gave him the right to terminate his deal in March.
I believe Kaepernick didn’t want to go through what he did in 2016–even if he got hurt playing, he would rather have the option to control this himself in 2017.
Important note: Kaepernick understands that the 49ers won’t pay him that $14.5M next season.
If he’s still on the team and healthy, they will cut him April 1 to avoid that contract… and all further years of his “long-term” deal.

That so-called $126M deal signed back back in 2014 was designed to be a year-by-year deal, so Kaepernick was always in jeopardy of getting cut every April 1… if he was healthy.

I thought his $$ was guaranteed if he was injured and that's why they started the season with Gabbert, then Kaepernick realized he was going to spend the entire season on the bench unless he agreed to opt out. Once he did that they could bench Gabbert, who was playing poorly, because they knew both of them would be gone next season. At least that was my understanding of the situation.

The 49ers would have been on the hook IF he was injured for the 2017 season. He technically was not (although he was attempting to get a surgery on his shoulder if I recall) during the 2016 season. The Niners had no intentions of playing him and risking him getting injured as that would put them on the hook for the 2017 season. Kap knew this and realized the only way he would get any playing time in 2016 was to opt out of his contract (that way if he played and did well, it would make him more marketable to other teams). The 49ers were going to cut him and he knew that. There's no way they were going to pay his 2017 contract.

Look at all the other players who werent white, who did things much worse to actual human beings and animals, and got roster spots on team. Now ask yourself what did these players that signed with teams all have in common..... ANSWER: Talent, and teams looked the other way because they believed that player could be a valuable part of the team.

Michael Vick - Fought dogs, and killed dogs. There was national outrage all over the US, yet he was able to get signed with several teams and start
Adrian Peterson - Beat the hell out of his child... still signed with teams and started
Adam "Pac Man" Jones - Way to many to list... but has signed and started for several teams

List can go on and on, but seriously, it isnt cause he is black, it isnt racial.... its just that his determent to any team he would play for, far outweighs his (lack of) talent.

NFL & NBA have proven many times, be a good-great player and you can do almost anything you want and still have a job. If Kap was playing like he was 4 years ago... he would be picked up right away.

hahahaha we are going to protest because he does not have a job... hahahahah

Dude does not have a job because he is not very good... Teams do not want to change their ogffense for this guy because he is not worth it..

These fvcking sjw are too much, think it's time to take our country back from these pieces of refuse.
Things will get ugly at some point when the adults decide to get things in line again.
The big cities will be ugly but 90% of the country outside of the big cities they will be beat down and sent packing.
These people are starting something they will not be able to finish....

The NAACP just doesn't get it - this has nothing to do with race - the NFL is big business - Kaepernick is bad for business - we understand that he's good enough to be a back up or possibly start
