To be honest, I just couldn't believe they way it played itself out so perfectly.......

2 Wagers last night

3Units: Dallas/Denver Under 210
3Units: Dirk Nowitzki -2 pts vs. Carmelo Anthony

105-103 Dallas Leads With Seconds Left & Denver in possession
If Denver misses the 3pointer they attempted, the game stays under & the first wager wins.
But Denver hits the 3pointer, winning the game at the buzzer with a final score of 106-106, putting the game over the total of 210 by 1point at 211.

1 Loss in the books

Now, not only did Denver make the last second 3pointer to send the total over, it's who made it that hurt even more.

Similar to the 1st wager, at the time the 2nd wager above looked to be covered, as Dirk Nowitzki had 33points, to Carmelo Anthony's 28Points. And naturally, who else is chosen by the gambling Gods to take the 3point attempt & nail it. Noneother than Carmelo himself, draining the 3 to not only kill the under in the game that looked to be a winner, but also to send a second dagger to the heart by bringing his point total in the final shot of the game up to 31 points, to Nowitzki's 33, to cover the -2 matchup wager.

Then, as if losing 2 wagers legitimately in 1 last shot of a game was not enough, after reviews of the shot showed it should have never counted, and the NBA admitting they screwed up, it makes the 2 wagers lost by 1single, illegal shot, that much worse.

I am just not in the gambling mood today......^<<^

AGREE, and feel bad for you!

Now answer my question.

Partially for fun, and partially for profit.

But last night was definitely neither!

At times you just have to vent, and, well, this is a gambling/sporstbetting forum.

Now, I was going to ask you why you put you money into those slots, but I'm almost certain your answer will be identical or similar to mine......:toast:

Here you go Hache. My E-Mail to Mark Cuban:

Subject: The Blame lies with Carlisle, not the ref

Mark, Rick Carlisle blew that game!

For the life of me I CANNOT understand how after a timeout with .31 left and a 4 point lead you play "Ole" defense and give up a dunk with only 2.5 seconds coming off the clock.

But then Carlisle's blunders only get worse! First, with his team past halfcourt with 21.1 seconds left and 17 seconds left on the shot clock, and Denver mistakenly electing NOT to foul, Carlisle calls Timeout, allowing Denver to catch its breath and giving up the advantage he had.

And what was his advantage you ask? Something he and EVERY PLAYER in a Mavericks uniform should have known without a timeout [they are Pros aren't they]?

If you are up by 2 and there is a 4.1 second differential between the shot-clock and the game-clock, and the other team is foolish enough to allow you to use all that time, instead of calling a timeout [or even after you've foolishly called one], you simply have your best shooter dribble the ball behind the 3-point line. And with .01 left on the shotclock you have him launch a high-arcing '3' and make sure it draws iron!

And the worst thing that could have resulted from using such common sense would have been Denver ball with less than .01 to go, trailing by 2 and your team still having a foul to give. Pretty much a license to shove somebody as they catch the inbounds pass. Or do nothing!

Now isn't that a better alternative than having Nowitski throw up a contested shot with 8 seconds left in the game and 4 seconds left on the shot-clock?

God my head hurts!!!

Did the ref screw up at the end? Of course! But it was Carlisle's over-coaching and lack of common sense that put the ref in a position to screw up. Carlisle blew that game! And one would think that during the timeout SOMEONE would be smart enough to suggest doing what I wrote above. They are pros, aren't they?

Thank you for your time Marc.

Respectfully,
Scott XXXXXXX

Hache, you are going over the top here. Bad beats happen all the time. You know this. You might have considered a perfect hedge at the half with a nice over play in the 2nd half but that is another story. If Denver hits the 2 it goes into ot and you lose the under anyway. If Carmelo and anyone hits a 2 and it goes into OT then you could have lost the prop but too maybe in OT. It really is not that bad of a beat. They need 52 points in the 4th for you to lose and that is very average for these teams. It was tooth and nail and you lose. WIth all your plays you know this. In props do ties lose? Didn't Dirk beat him by 2 and that was the line? Tough beat but not earth shattering. Not like they scored 25 pts in the llast 2 minutes and Anthony hit 5 threes in that time frame.

Yes the Dirk prop is a push, at least.
But the way it played out with 1 player killing 2 birds with 1 stone on a last second shot stunk......

bad beat none the less , but I think the Mavs got fukked harder than you , they had a foul to give and it looked like they gave it to Anthony before he hit the 3 ....

Yeah you're right Rupert, that was another thing I was pointing out.
It's bad enough to lose what looked to be 2 winners by the hands of the 1 player who was involved in the 2nd wager, but makes the losses even worse now that we all know & the NBA even admitted the shot never should have counted or been launched.

I'm not whining, just sharing a bad experience with my fellow sports bettors on what was personally my worst bad beat ever considering all circumstances......

A bad beat yes but not earth shattering. My opinion is that these two bets could have gone either way. I consider a bad beat when you have the game won and somehow lose. Maybe an under play that is 25 pts under and you lose it because the game goes to double OT. Ouch a winner that loses. Not these plays. They were borderline. Good luck!

And I would be willing to bet that if you studied Haches plays over several years you could find worse beats.

On the positive side that result improved your odds on Denver
futures wagers:

Future Bet: 3Units LA Lakers To Win Western Conference (-140)
Future Bet: 3Units LA Lakers To Win Western Conference (-145)
Future Bet: 3Units LA Lakers To Win Western Conference (-155)
Future Bet: 1Unit Boston/Cleveland/LA Wins NBA Championship (-435)
Future Bet: 1Unit: Cleveland Cavs To Win NBA Championship (+270)
Future Bet: 1Unit: Cleveland Cavs To Win Championship (+225)
Future Bet: 1Unit: LA Lakers To Win Championship (+180)
Futrue Bet: 5Units: Cleveland Cavs To Win East (-160)
Future Bet: 5Units: LA Lakers & Cleveland Cavs Meet In NBA Finals (-128)
Future Bet: 2Units: LA Lakers or Cleveland Cavs Win NBA Championship (-405)
Future Bet: 2Units: LA Lakers or Cleveland Cavs Win NBA Championship (-453)
Future Bet: 2Units: Denver Nuggets To Win Series Over Dallas Mavs (-210)
Future Bet: 2Units: Denver Nuggets To Win Championship (+1500)
Future Bet: 1Unit: Cleveland Cavs To Win East (-470)

The other futures look quite promising also, to bring in a bunch of units,
considering how well Cleveland is playing, for example.

And the Yao Ming injury was good luck in that regard.

Hache, you want to talk about a REAL bad beat. How about having Orlando last night? THey lead from wire to wire and are up double digits in the 4th. They were in total control the entire game. The refs make a bad call and the team just collapses. Now this is a bad beat.
