My thurs night GOY, double up

Will look forward to your analysis on this game. My thinking is that Clemson would compare very favorably to Syracuse this year. Good ground game, Good size, good QB, fair speed.
Cavs only won by 21, but could have scored more had it been necessary.
Cavs will control ground game, so it comes down to how much pressure can they put on Whitehurst. He is good given time to throw, but has always been erratic and prone to turnovers if pressured.
Just my opinion, but I think Virginia will bring that pressure and will get the TO"s. Again look forward to your thoughts. I LOVE THIS FORUM.

I sorta like Clemson too, Whitehurst is due for a breakout and Tommy is on the hotseat once again and should have his boys ready to play.

Clemson is usually a good dog, but this Virginia team has DESTROYED every team they have played. Might leave this one alone. GL

If the look at the power ranking of opponent played Clemsons is nearly double of VAs hence the elevated stats. Clemson could win outright easily.

Good point, BigPete. I suppose the Cavs have looked great against mediocre opponents, while the Tigers have looked mediocre going to war with the big boys. I'll either take the points or just watch. GL

I agree Clemson is the play here.

Last year Virginia were favor by 6 but Clemson upset them. The teams Virginia played so far are jokers and compared to Clemson. I don't think Virginia are going to get much here. If they are going to win it must be less than 10 points.

Clemson due to win here or Coach will say good bye.!!:discuss:

That's definitely a fair statement, seeing as how there were only 113 plays from scrimmage. That's usually what you get in three quarters.

Bowden is not much of a coach -- does the minimum he has to to get by. He's feeling some heat here, so maybe he'll have the Tigers ready to play. Otherwise, you could one of those sleepwalking performances like the NC State game on Thursday night a couple years ago (a 38-6 loss).

UVA has gotten a lot of hype the last two years but hasn't proven anything yet. 4-4 in the ACC last year with no upset wins or losses (beat the bottom 4 and lost to the top 4). This year, they've dominated an easy schedule, but they haven't really been more dominant than the other teams those cupcakes have faced. For instance, UVA scored 44 against Temple, but that is the FEWEST points any of Temple's 4 D-1A opponents have scored.

Cavs will control ground game
Possibly, but I think you're mistaken there, Hoo. That was not the case last year (or the year before), and there hasn't been enough turnover in personnel since last year to expect it to happen this year.

Remember -- Groh called 19 straight pass plays to open the second half last year because Clemson was dominating the running game. Good move, incidentally, and UVA certainly has an advantage when it comes to halftime adjustments. Each year since Groh arrived, Clemson has led at the half (10-6, 10-6, and 10-0), but UVA has outscored Clemson in the second half (20-14, 16-7, and 27-20, including OT).

Last year's rushing stats (includes yardage lost on sacks):

Clemson 46-194
UVA 22-53

In 2002:

Clemson 40-189
UVA 40-80

Mr. Gamecock -- glad you started this thread, though I'm sure it's hard for you to bet on the Tigers. Hope you don't regret it....

Well Guys.....

I have so much info & so many stats on this game, that I really don't know where to even start. Every reply had good points...very good points. I've been gathering all the info I can possibly get all week long....
*3 pages of stats!
*Attended the Tuesday Bowden conference here in Columbia at the TouchDown Club!
*Also I've been communicating with my cousin who lives on campus and is a member of the Clemson Soccer Team & he says that Coach Bowden has put a big emphasis on winning this & turning the season around.
*Also there will not be a Partisan VA Crowd at The Game. As some of you may know, Clemson Fans Travel well. Over 30,000 went to The TEXAS A & M Game. Lots of support still with The Fans & The Alumni!
*After the Big Contract Extension Bowden signed after blasting DUKE, FSU, SC, and The Vols to end last season...He is not really on the "HOT SEAT"
I know that is the talk & the rumors that you all hear on SportsCenter, but it's simply not true!
Clemson would have a hell of a time buying out his contract with the clause that is involved!

On To The Game....
VA does have The #7 Offense & #8 Defense, but look who they have played...I mean Pathetic Teams!
Clemson on the other hand has the #1 Hardest Schedule of any CFB Team in the country This Year!
VA is Undefeated & Ranked in The Top 10.
Clemson is 1-3, but they lost @ TEXAS A & M, @ FSU, At Home vs GA TECH on A FLUKE!

Clemson will come out strong & WhiteHurst Will be on Target & Have A BIG GAME!

I'll Be Back W/ Much More Later!

Just Remember....CLEMSON/VA Games are always TIGHT & VA has Played NOBODY!

CLEMSON + 18 LOCAL......50 UNITS
CLEMSON + 17 OLYMPIC....30 UNITS

Might need a backdoor cover here, UVA looks unstoppable.

Can Clemson score once in the 2nd half?
