Take the winners of all conferences except the SEC, and put them in a tournament bracket seeded by their conferences total W-L in non-conference games.

The winner of that tournament takes on the winner of the SEC for the National Championship.

Seems fair to me...

Just use the current bowl format....32 games, winners advance. 6 wins equals National championship. Champion would play 18 or 19 games, but heck, the NFL regular season will be 20 games 10 years from now.

I've always liked this proposal. However, drop the regular season to 10 games, making a total of 16 games for the champion and runner-up. I think this system would be very feasible.

Pathetic. You people in SEC country think the SEC conference is the best thing since sliced bread. Just stop it. It's really pathetic that you people think that SEC football is the only thing in the world. Any SEC team couldn't keep up with any offense like USC, Mizzou, OU. It's really insane that you take pride in your 3-2 scorelines and think that's football. I find it hard to watch and boring. Oh and by the way that Miss St. team that held Auburn to 3 pts, got smoked by Georgia Tech. That's nice.

haha. That's funny. "you people in SEC country"--- and then you pull out Miss St. as the team to use to define the SEC. Thanks for using the 7 or 8th best team in the SEC as your Team of choice to encompass the Strength of the SEC. Why don't you find another conference and use their 7th or 8th best team and compare that team to Miss St. Get Real bud!!

Don't even need to go that far. We already have the BCS bowl games. Just seed the BCS teams 1-8 and play the regular bowls 1 v 8 ,etc. Then have a mid january and a late january games of the 4 winners and 2 winners for the title.

It keeps all the "money" coming in just the same, bowls stay the same and you only add 3 HUGE money games and only affect a total of 4 teams to play 14 or 15 games.

It is so freaking easy I have no idea why it isn't done yet.

Just use the current bowl format....32 games, winners advance. 6 wins equals National championship. Champion would play 18 or 19 games, but heck, the NFL regular season will be 20 games 10 years from now.

I have a system that may work with still even keeping the BCS system...

DI has too many teams....we would need to cut down to 96 team....
8 conferences all with 12 teams...each having a conference championship game.
Each team plays 8 conference games and 3 non-conference games vs D1 opponents only.

8 conference champions all receive automatic berths to the round of 16....while still utlizing the BCS and current polls system, the top 8 highest rated non-conference champions are awarded at-large bids to make the field of 16.....

This way...say FLorida wins the SEC title game but LSU, AUB and BAMA are all in the BCS 16...they would receive at-large bids...

And we playoff from there....rotating the bowls as the playoff games....i.e Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl could be the Semis one year and the Fiesta Bowl the title game....

Those "bowl eligible" teams not making the tournamnet can play in some of the lower-tier bowls....

Or you could just leave it like it is now (not BCS wise). Winner of confreneces play eachother. Winners andvance losers out. Just break it up similar to how NCAABB does. Let the DivII schools have their shot as well.
Ex. Big 12 North vs Big 12 south winner of them advance to playoffs
