Virtual Keyboard.jpg

The Virtual Keyboard for PC (VKPC) is a true Virtual Keyboard. That is a keyboard of light projected on to any surface. This means that it can’t be broken, never needs cleaning (no spread of infection), sets up with no wiring (optional), and takes up no room when not in use. It is keyless, button-less, and switch-less – nothing to collect dirt.

A keyboard image is projected onto any surface. Touching a key’s image generates a unique electronic signal corresponding to the key’s image that was touched. Not evolutionary (smaller, faster, cheaper), but a revolutionary customer value. Plug into a desktop PC as a replacement keyboard with the advantage of taking up no desk space since it disappears when not in use.

The Virtual Keyboard PC is a full size keyboard with a virtual mouse. It can be use with any computer application; it works just as a traditional keyboard.

The VKPC is operational in minutes with just a plug in. Can be used on any computer system that uses a keyboard (see minimum requirements). VKPC can be mounted on top your monitor, desk or any other location that is appropriate.

The Virtual Keyboard for PC is a great choice for the family computer that is exposed to food, drink and other keyboard damaging agents. It is also quite chic on the professional’s desk where space and neatness are important.

Any surface, hmm, bet it wouldn't work with my laptop and there probably isn't much feel (feedback) on those keys.

Virtual mouse and waving two fingers does seem kinda neat though.

Guys....it looks cool but there is no way in hell this works very well.

1. You almost have to have tactile feedback if you are a typist

2. Your fingers are constantly hovering around the keys and even laying on the keys as you think or compose...you can't rest your hands on anything with this keyboard....you have to hold you hands hovering above the desk. Talk about carpal tunnel syndrome....wow.

It looks cool as can be, though. For those of you that are capable typists, I MUST recommend the Microsoft Natural Keyboard. It has dramatically changed my comfort level at the computer. Good luck. tulsa

I'm with tulsa. The technology is interesting, but it doesn't seem all that practical.

I need a new mouse. That virtual mouse sounds good. I'm getting a weak index finger in my right hand from being on the computer for 18 hours a day.

However, that keyboard is as close as you will get to being like "Dillinger" when he typed at his desk to talk to the "MCP" in the movie "TRON". End of line.

Actually I seen it on a Detective program with Dr. Lee. It looked interesting and I did a search and it came up.

OK.....maybe I was to quick to shoot...

I decided to check out reviews of this tech and found some interesting stuff. Seems that this is for real and works well!! I can't believe it. Here is the site I found this fellow's review and a portion of his review....site follows part of review.....

I think I'm getting old. When I was younger I believed everything would be great and work wonders and now I don't believe in anything! tulsa

Now I have to admit that I was very sceptical on what the performance of the keyboard was going to be like. When I first heard about this device, it struck me as one of those technologies like speech recognition for your computer. The similarity being it’s really cool to show to your friends, but not quite ready for primetime in terms of everyday use. WOW, was I surprised. I started clicking letters one at a time, and they were appearing on the PDA flawlessly. I then sped up my typing and it seemed to be handling it well, with only the odd error. (And some of that may also be attributable to my less than desirable typing skills.) I was very impressed, and although it was not perfect, it was amazingly accurate given the fact that I was sitting there typing away on the wood of my desk. I would consider myself a well above average transcriber for input on a pocket pc, and using this keyboard was definitely much faster than I can transcribe, even given the time to go back and fix any of the minor mistakes.
I know from the prior reading up that I had done on the virtual keyboard, it is difficult to understand how well it works from reading someone else’s explanation. I was so impressed with how it worked I figured I had to show everyone else. To accomplish this I have created a Flash movie (10.1mb) that demonstrates both my typing on the keyboard, as well as the synchronized on screen results on the Pocket PC. Now keep in mind my aforementioned typing skills, but I tried to ensure I was going at a reasonable and steady pace. Also, due to the size of the file I would recommend downloading it to your computer to view.
