First off I want to thank my boss Marty Jensen for the confidence he exhibited in me by letting me run with the ball this year completely on my own in order to try to put on the best event possible for our valuable posters and their guests that were able to attend Rx Bash 2009...Thank you in the most sincerest way I am able to convey my gratitude for your trust in me with just those two words..

Memories:...

I arrived at The Golden Nugget on Thursday evening around 8PM and easily checked into my very comfortable and modern room. While walking around a bit after unpacking the first Rxer I saw was fittingly the always happy go lucky Mr. Leisure. I think this was our 5Th Bash together as I don't recall any of The Bashes I have attended (the Five Bashes in the current Rx.com era) that Mr. Leisure did not attend. FWIW this was my fifth consecutive Bash as head moderator here at The Rx.com..

Anyway seeing Mr. Leisure was a perfect start to what turned out to be a great (but not easy on the feet) weekend at The very excellent Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino for me. Great guy, loyal and valued Rxer. No Bash would be complete without the smiling face of Mr. Leisure...

I also hooked up with Sportsavant who was my right arm during the entire pre-bash preparation period which started back in May or even April. Many thanks to the always right there with ideas and assistance during the long telephone discussions of the countless little details that go into planning an event like an Rx Bash. SS helped me get the laptop that someone loaned me for The Bash working perfectly at the desk of my room on Thursday night.

Regarding the contribution from Sportsavant. He did yeoman's work to make this Bash happen. I can't thank him enough for his tireless efforts and patience required to put up with my nervous everything must be perfect paranoia while still keeping up to date on his heavy workload as The Rx.com Contest Coordinator.

After knocking out some late emails on Thursday night, I called it a night by trying to watch my 42" flat screen HD TV show me a game of Little League Baseball (tape delayed on ESPN). I fell asleep during the second inning I think.

Friday morning..up early and back online to put a dent on any overnight email and PMs that came in while I got around 5 hours of sleep.

Friday morning around 8:30 comes with a knock on the door from the ever present and also extremely helpful Dante. Come on down to the Sportsbook in 20 minutes. around seven of us are going out for breakfast and we will wait for you. Quick word about Dante, I am convinced Dante is one of the few Rxers who have attended every Bash possible and is one of the rocks that this site is supported by...I can't think of anyone who loves this site and especially our annual get togethers more than that non stop ball of energy we call Dante..Gracias mi Amigo..

Breakfast was fun as seven of us, including some real vets here at The Rx led by the hilarious and always happy CoachLT, my fine friend, one who I would never refuse to help under any situation leading the way. Followed by Dante and the following.

The jolly and ultra generous Viejo Dinosaur another great friend who is part of the Wilheim family as my wife and her two grown up kids all love Tio Dinosaur who also was in the group. Viejo Dinosaur who is the source of much joy each Christmas for hundreds of orphans here in Costa Rica. His generosity and kindness to the needy children of Costa Rica is truly inspirational.

Quantumleap, another rock here at The Rx and a most loyal Rxer and even more important a most loyal friend to so many was in the group. They just do not come any better than QL when you are talking loyal friendship. Unfortunately the other members of our troop to The Main Street Hotel Breakfast Buffet escape my starting to get old memory.

From there is was mostly taking care of details with what turned out to be a very efficient Golden Nugget staff. The very capable Martha S. was my principle contact as Convention Services Supervisor. Martha a 17 year vet at the Nugget was outstanding with her assistance whenever I called her regarding the slightest detail.

Friday afternoon was a blur of planning and telephone calls along with strategy sessions on how to best make everything work with Sportsavant. We were ready to tackle Rx Bash 2009 Saturday.

However Friday night was still to come. I was invited by Rx.com CEO Marty Jensen to the best steakhouse in downtown Las Vegas for dinner - soup to nuts at Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse right off the lobby of the Nugget's North Tower. Attending were mods Sportsavant, Betallsports, Bucsfan, Honorary mod for life Dante, SportsOptions GM Rick Allec, Marty of course and myself.

To say the food was great would be an understatement. So what if they made Bucsfan take off his U of Indiana ballcap....Great company - lots of joking around and some fantastic food made for a memorable evening.

Called it a night around 11PM after ordering a Pay Per View movie (called "Still in Play" starring Russell Crowe) for $12 and falling asleep during the opening credits. Brilliant move on my part.

Saturday morning more Internet then I had a $30 plate of bacon and eggs from room service after which I showered and headed for the Poker Tournament by 11AM to begin seating the contestants. Dante was a big help, he hiked across the street as a favor and picked up a couple of dozen donuts for the the sign up table..At 11AM sharp I started signing up players and giving away $20 bills and $80 Freeplays courtesy of BetPhoenix.com. My old pal KissOne and his guest were the first to sign in followed by the rest of the contingent.

The Tournament itself was very exciting as it came down to Akilles and Sharky99 battling it out for the $2,000 first prize out of a total purse put up by UltimateBet and AbsoluteBet Poker of $5,000.

The finish was like so:

1.) Akillies
2.) sharky99 (by 1 chip over 3rd place)
3.) patswin
4.) billpapa
5.) jeffksu
6.) quantumleap

Congrats to a very gracious winner in Bash regular and all around class act Akillies for winning all the chips...

Immediately after the Poker Tourney ended it was time to put together the gift bags - all 100 of them in the Bel Air Banquet Room. Here I want to take a moment to shout out a special thanks to a very classy and generous Porno Paul who for the 4Th straight year showed really uncommon generosity by donating 150 Sports DVDs, some worth well over $100 on Amazon, along with 100 adult entertainment DVDs and over 200 very nice high end shopping bags to place all of the goodies we could muster in. Rx polos and tee shirts, DVDs galore, UtlimateBet Poker tees and ladies shirts etc.

Everyone took home a bag full of free stuff. Helping in this no fun operation were Sportsavant, Bucsfan and Dante, Good thing I didn't have a whip because I was playing the roll of slave master while getting the bags filled, counted and separated by sizes. Thanks to Buc, SS and Dante once again. I think they were close to mutiny by around 6PM Saturday night as everyone of us needed a break that for me was not to materialize.

I got off track a little - getting back to Porno Paul, they don't come any more generous and fun loving than he does. Great guy who from what I can see leads a great life but is still humble and truly a man of his word..Our Bashes would not be the same without Paul..Thanks from everyone at The Rx.com go out to Paul and his very lovely guest Miss Mary.

With all that done it was time to trudge back to my room to shave, shower and dress for the Reception and then hoof it all the way from one Tower to the other Tower and The Bel Air Banquet Room, lugging raffle tickets, name tags, magic markers and envelopes full of cash in the ice bucket from my room.

I barely made it by 7:30 to set up the greeting table with name tags and raffle tickets etc. Rx editor Charlie Maxwell, a huge Detroit sports team fan lent a much needed hand as did Dante, Sportsavant and Bucsfan.. Around 100 posters along with guests paraded by and were given name tags and raffle tickets.

The Dinner itself was if I say so myself flat out delicious. Entrees included Fillet Mignon, Shrimp Scampi, Roast Beef in Au Jus and Horseradish, Ceasar Salad, Pasta with grilled chicken, incredible deserts such as Strawberry Shortcake, Praline Cheesecake, Jumbo cookies (Sportsavant's idea) and Hazelnut Mousse Cake and more.

Needless to say no one went hungry or thirsty as the open bar was kept busy all night.

Then after some brief and in some cases very gracious words from Marty Jensen our good friend Rick Allec and his lovely wife conducted the raffle..Given away was the following

Six super deluxe History of The Super Bowl DVD packages containing up to 40 discs in each set. Truly collectors items donated by Porno Paul.

Next came three bottles of especially labeled XO Cognac kindly shipped to Las Vegas by BetPhoenix.com (had to be seen to be appreciated). TheRightSide, Hal01 and Coaster were the lucky Cognac winners. Followed by:

Ten $100 Freeplays courtesy of BetJamaica.
four $250 Freeplays courtesy of BetJamaica
Two $250 Freeplays courtesy of Skybook

Cash:

$700 from BetPhoenix. Regarding Bet Phoenix.com and Richard their director of marketing. BetPhoenix.com was incredibly generous when it came to making this Bash a great one. Richard gave me $1500 in cash to give away alone during the Bash not to mention dozens of $80 Freeplays for BetPhoenix.com account holders for the NFL Kickoff on Thursday night Sept. 10Th.. Did BetPhoenix.com ever come through for our Bash Posters..

SportsOptions gave away over $600 in cash to lucky raffle ticket holders. $300 of which went to our fine moderator Betallsports who I would like to mention here.

BAS is a true gentlemen and very loyal member of our Mod team. He was a great help to me all weekend and along with his lovely wife and daughter truly added a great deal of class and style to the festivities. Betallsports and family thank you for all you did to make Rx Bash 2009 the huge success it was.. Really a wonderful family, BAS's wife gave me some beautiful jewelry to bring home to my wife who flipped when she saw the very beautiful chains and bracelets that I gave her courtesy of Betallsports and family..

I am going to stop here and make a second post later with shout outs to all the posters who I met, almost all of which came up to me at the end of the Reception Dinner offering their hand to shake and their thanks for a great time. Those thank yous are what really made any amount of work on my part more than worth doing. There is no price tag that is suitable to attach to friends new and old that show genuine gratitude for a great time.

To all of you that came up to me at the end of the night to offer thanks, the pleasure was all mine and the thanks should go to you our posters, the fine people that keep our site forever getting better,

Sincerest thanks and best wishes, Wilheim...

out of curiousity, who was the youngest member there and how old?

Like almost any website it is impossible to know the age of our users. The Bash attendees off the top of my head averaged at least 30 Years old. There were some 20 somethings and one user over 80 but many users between 25 and 40 I would roughly estimate.

i've always thought that its a good size clique of guys that know each other real well that probably wouldnt even recognize my screen name on a name tag.

Just got back to a computer and want to send a huge "thanks" to everyone involved in this event.
The event takes days of planning and is a blast. To anyone who hasn't attended, make sure you get to the next one. Many laughs and beers and you can't beat the scenery.
Thanks again Wil and the entire RX staff, sponsors and fellow attendees.

Sounds like use all had a great time. Good to hear. Has there ever been a fight between members at any bash where fists were thrown?
