I checked with the manager first. They asked if I wanted to visit and take them out in person. Believe it or not, they do get toked occaisonally. But just like at a card table tipping the dealer, they still deal out legit cards. What you are suggesting is just not the way it works. If I call in, and that number is on hold for someone else, they get the hook, whether they tip or not. I have already done this at other books, and it was welcomed as a kind gesture for the employees. I never single out one employee, but all of them, even the call entire center. Just as it is in this case. I may get a thanks FROG, and then it is business as usual. I keep everything on the table and above board. I would not even consider attempting something like that, I can bargain over halves with managers, juice whatever or I can shop for lines, like I do double shift at times. I would never drag a clerk into surrendering their ethics for a hook. I go out of my way to protect them and treat them with respect. Why are you always yankin my chain Capt?

OF: You missed my point OF. It is not your gesture I am talking about. Not everyone is a saint in this world and if they could they would gladly throw around quite a few nickel tokes and see what it would get them! Now if you have guys competing for affection for a lack of a better word, once again you can see where this might lead. I am not yanking your chain, just showing you what could happen in this world. So if thats yanking your chain sobeit!

That is not how the business works. It is first come first serve, either calling in or on the internet. It is easy to hear backround when you are on with a clerk, and someone calls out the game you were trying to get. You are fishing in a water glass. If you had any experience calling in bets you would know that. They do not make any determination on who you are but what game you ask for, they will say hold that game. It is about as straight forward as you can get. Are there people out there, not As saintly as FROG corrupting them as you suggest? No. You call any of the majors, same story, first come first serve.
I believe there are even safeguards against this with recordings and other means, but Rainbow or Slim would be better qualified than I to speak on such matters. I have been doing this quite some time, I cannot recall a single incident of favortism in the context you suggest. I think I would have seen it by now.

Why does anyone even call in bets anymore with the internet being as sweet as it is unless in transit? No need for tapes or conversations with clerks then when betting and looking for a hook or hearing about some game that just moved that makes a toke worthwhile. Plenty of betting groups would tip the office at Christmas back in the 90s world of phone betting and the clerks would pick up some decent scratch and knew where it was from. Those gestures went along way during rundowns in January when orders were coming out.

You have done everything you can to shoot this down Capt. Whether it not being an anonymous donation to corrupting the clerks with a toke. I am happy I did it and would do it again, as I am not influenced by negative breakfast cereals. I hope they have a nice dinner and evening on me. I hope everybody enjoys the pizza. I think the night on the town is a great idea, and am glad to take care of the people who took care of me. Pretty much feel the same way as when the thread started. Thanks for pointing out all the negatives of a good deed. I think your package was not resealed as I sense a certain staleness.

It used to be majority call in, now I only call in where I am required. I would say less than 20% of my shops. Back in the 90's I was a phone talker, rundown getter. Yes, you needed a good clerk. But now, all of the Don Best premium and their own internet sites, you already know game, number and line when you call in. If you mumble then someone like me will beat you to it. You won't see openers on the screens that often. Probably the biggest madhouse is CRIS openers for football. You can have 3 or 4 groups wanting or racing for same number. Volatile like the trading floor.

The way I read what Capn Crunch is saying isn't negative but the way this type of thing can be perceived. Obviously the posting is a declaration of your action and the need to bet over the phone shows that your tip was done because of what it means to you as a bettor looking for lines. It's a nice gesture to treat people helping you but most times those tokes are done without the exposure of the act in a public forum. Is WWTS considered a required phone in shop for some reason?

Sometimes you just can't win on these forums......

All OvFrog was saying was that sometimes it never hurts to give a little bit to those who are less fortunate and who bust their asses to make the player happy.

These people in CS are not exactly rich, and they have to deal with a bunch of players-many of whom are absolute pricks. You'd be surprised what a little appreciation can do-it really does mean a lot to them.

Very generous deed Frogster :howdy:

For me, I cannot bet on internet as they want to know what I am up to. But they give me great limits and fast turnaround for phone in. When I am moving fast I get my number everytime. Do I get special treatment, nope. I ask no quarter, and give none. They are a RX advertiser, they are getting professional compliments regarding thier phone center. Also good posts about lines and payoffs. This is all free props for them. As far as them having a problem with me toking thier employees, are you kidding? Any manager would be thrilled to pass along a perk and a compliment from a customer. I have seen this done for years. There are programs for players to visit, tour island, facility, city whatever. Especially credit players or whales. I have not subscribed to High Roller magazine yet, but when I do maybe I can be a whale. I normally know if I am out of line because the General, The SHRINK or one of the mods are there to get me back on the chosen path. I am happy to relate my experiences, on this forum, about WWTS.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:
