My disapointment with Make$$$$

A couple of weeks ago, I started to follow Make$$$'s POD. I found his picks to be very strong. I did find it unusual that he would not just post the picks instead of collecting emails. Well, he told all of US that he was using email so that he could not get bashed (see below). So, I provided my email address. Today, he has turned tout. Sending an email with a link to his website and his pay per pick service. Why not just state your intentions from the beginning ? Why lie to all of us ?

People really let you down sometimes!

Touts or like drug dealers they sell but do not use, touts do not play, they prey on the weak, like me. I-used to be in the business, not something i am proud of.

Everyone here is right.

I am an ignorant fool.

However, on a board where the single biggest point is the dissemenation of information at no cost, I am disappointed.

Perhaps, I am an idealist, however, I had hoped this guy just liked to share his picks.

Look at OldmanTed. The guy is a fantastic person and VERY successfull handicapper. He has never asked for money.

Newport, SSI, SmokeyWins(the guy has a service but still helps out the everyday guy), Co-Captain(huge write ups), NBAsia (dont know where he is, but he was solid), Pitbull, Panther, I could go on and I would like to, however, no one is going to read my ramblings anyways.

I just hope that people are aware how Make's Service got started. If he would have written, hey, buckeyez, i am going to start a service and my picks are so solid, i am willing to give you two weeks for free. I would have no ill will and no negative thoughts.

BOL to all except touts and decievers.

Buckeyez I hear you loud and clear, and I respect what you are saying, but just referencing your quote here below. We ALL could have a service if we wanted to. Owning a service, or creating one SURELY has nothing to do with gambling success.

Owning a service is owning a "marketing company" not a gambling service. If you look at some of the large advertise services around the country, they ALL originated from MARKETING and ENTERTAINMENT companies. Now I am NOT saying services cannot be successful, BUT WE ALL CAN BE SUCCESSFUL, and that is why the service reports we get are more for trend research, and streak research, and fade research. You can win money just by monitoring Skybooks post thread and pops69 thread. I like those threads more for fades than anything else. SO all information is part of the due diligence of gambling. But I just wanted to educate that SERVICES are nothing more than MARKETING and ENTERTAINMENNT SALES.......just like the tourism industry. lol NEWPORT

But once you pay some one to DO IT

I started working with my uncle when i was 17, he gave me a dime for every parlay card i sold, when i went to viet nam i even had cards made for over there. I got a job with Mike Lee through my uncle and learned the ropes there. alling people at home when there family was around, hounding them, it was sad. There was a list, a number of list that these guys share with each other with phone numbers. Giving out both sides is the key to the business, having several names for your services, give out one side to one part of the country the other to the other side. Just like a bokie you get the same amount on each side, someone always called you back happy. Me and a friend started our own business, hoosier sports consultants, we would make 200 dollars a day just drinking beer and anserwring phone calls. These guys like Jack Price have an education in marketing and have turned in to a million dollar business, they do not even handicap.You or better of tossing a coin.

Sad story Tom, but not surprising to hear that is what goes on.

It sucks that you were once involved, but I commend you for having the balls to admit it.

Having gotten a bunch of those calls myself, I know what it's like....and hearing stories like these just makes me want to pick winners (and share them for free) that much more badly.

Having a website doesn't necessarily mean one is going over to the dark side. Personally, I want to do everyting I can to be a thorn in the side of scamdicapping scum and the website Tate and I put together is just a tool in that fight. We charge nothing. I'm not saying that to promote my site.....I'm saying that to point out that some of us go beyond Rx to get our picks out (SportSavant, Alan Palmer, etc) to a wider readerbase.....but don't charge for picks.

Zapster, not to be an ass but why do you guys need a site. Why can't you both just post your picks here isntead. I am sure people find it alot easier just coming here to find your picks along with everyone else, rather than going to your site.

Joe....If you go to site promos, look for a string started by Zapster and the link should be there.

Mr Green...you are not being an ass.....that is a very fair question...and I was WONDERING when I would be asked that. It is a spyware issue. Some advertisers like to throw things like "Avenue A" and "DoubleClick" onto peoples' hard drives without their permission. As far as I know they are essentially benign....but they are for the purpose of tracking one's websurfing activity. I can live with it. They do slow down my system and every so often I have to scrub down with Spybot to get working properly again, but some people take great exception to their privacy being invaded and they won't log into websites that have that kind of advertising. So I put up a spyware-free site.
