What a great experience, getting a first hand guided tour of the entire facility, including stuff the general public never gets to see.

The Superintendent's Reception was incredible. Great setting, great people and great food. Conversing with Generals was a great experience in and by itself, and I found the Cadets to be just as interesting. Also conversed briefly with Geraldo Riviera and shook his hand, his wife looks to be 25 years old and is beautiful.

I'm told there are usually several politicians in attendance, but with one convention just ending and another getting ready to start, there were none to be found today. Too bad, that would have been pretty cool.

Food and drinks were being served everywhere we went. Too bad the game sucked as Temple rolled.

Anyhow, if you ever get the chance to go to an Army game, do so. Get there early and enjoy the festivities.

The cadets are collectively the best of the best we have. Dedicated, respectful, hard working, smart, polite and everything else that makes one proud.

I'd take a West Point grad over any spoiled brat from some Ivy league progressive (non)think tank 24/7.

The difference is "personal responsibility"

At a military school, the students are held responsible for all of their social and scholastic actions.

Manners don't take a lot of effort, but the payback is huge - too bad the Ivy League schools don't teach such etiquette.

Life is a collection of memories. You just captured another one and had a great time as well. Nothing can be gooder than that.

Whether a person has manners is determined a long time before they attend college.

Judge, everything starts with parenting, but West Point molds people.

I disagree Judge - Whether they're in boot camp or Military School, even the most ill manered quickly learn that manners are expected at all times.

Once out of boot camp or school, it hangs in there - I think it's part of that honor code thing that Ivy Leaguers are clueless about.

I agree with this post.

Some college program - notably military schools - can likely whip a new set of behavior patterns into a formerly disgruntled teenager, but give me the young man with a lifetime history of good manners.

barman, have you ever been to one of the Military academies?

They bring the combination of respect, responsibility, work ethic & academics to a whole new level.

No I have not, but over the years I've heard little but positive perceptions from those who have done so.
