Here's my 2 cents, not mentioned in other threads.
Factors
Cons
As you notice I mention nothing about Penn States factors. I'm well aware of Penn States stats and performance #'s this season and furthermore their road to get here. The bottom line is this is USC's game to win or lose. Not Penn State's chances to compete with or to straight up win.
Here's my 2 cents, not mentioned in other threads.
Factors
- -ALL of SC's offensive weapons have speed, speed, speed and play making ability Penn St hasen't seen all year. Get any of these skill players (e.g. (RB) CJ Gable, (RB)Joe McKnight, (WR)Patrick Turner, or (WR)Damian Williams) in open space; cue up the fight song.
- -Pete Carroll's 2nd half adjustments. He's the best in the business.
- -Since converting to the 3-4 and allow (LB) Mauluga, (LB)Cushing, (LB)Maiava, (S)Mayes, and (S) Ellison to flow freely and be in better position against mobile QB's. That's an all-star secondary playing on one team folks and for the exceptoin of Taylor Mays, the rest are 3rd year starting seniors. Extremely difficult factor to deny. Couple the other 3rd year starters in (DT) Fili Moala & (DE)Kyle Moore These guys know each other better than the starting 5 the 84-85 "Showtime" Lakers.
- -Myth that USC's offense isn't as explosive? Well maybe by USC's standards it might not be. But last I checked they average 38 pts scored a game and avg mgn of victory is by 30.75 pts. Not sure what the media is sellin here.
Cons
- -SC's lack of discipline and penalties becomes a drive killer. At times they get too over confident believing they can overcome every 3rd and long. This offense thrives on momentum.
- -OC Steve Sarkisian's play calling comes into question. Gets too carried away with razzle dazzle and attempting to hit homeruns on every down.
