I recently had a dispute with mvpbets.com and I was unable to get my money. I posted the story on another forum, I e-mailed mvpbets.com and they are not answering. Of course as a reader you can think there could be another side to the story, but mvpbets is not answering… I am assuming they admit they are thieves. I still invite Billy at Mvpbets.com to come here and explain, or to e-mail me. Here are the facts as I know them to the best of my knowledge.
On June 28th, I placed a bet on the soccer game Cameroon vs France, under 2.5 -120. With Mvpbets, the online wager limits change from one game to another, especially for non-traditional wagers (soccer, nascar, tennis, football props, etc.). The only mention on their website is:
On-line Wager limit Restrictions
The management reserves the right to set a maximum on-line wager limit of $2500. Any wager over this limit will be refused and marked as "void".
If the customer wishes to increase this limit because of his geographic location (Can't call the TOLL FREE numbers ) please contact us via e-mail at customer_service@mvpbets.com
To find out what the limit was, I always tried the amount I wanted on the website, then if it was refused, I would go down until it is accepted. Sometimes, the website would accept this:
- $200 wager, then no additional wagers accepted
- $200 wager, then one additional $100 accepted, nothing after
- $100 wager, nothing after
- $500 wager, nothing after
- etc.
On the Cameroon vs France bet, I initially tried “to win” $500 but it was refused. I went down to $200 and it was accepted. Then I tried $100 and it worked. I tried $100 again and it worked. Then I tried $100 and it worked. So I had a total of $600 to win $500 (four wagers). Because the wager limits were very different from one game to another in the past ($200 only, or $200 plus $100, or $100 only, or $500 only, etc.) it was not so surprising to me that they allowed a total of $500. I thought they are simply willing to take more on this game, but by small increments, to give them a chance to change the line between wagers.
This game was scheduled for June 29th.
On June 29th, before the game, I decided to also bet on Cameroon +0.5 +130. I wanted $1000 but it did not work. I went down to $200 and it worked. Then I tried $200 and it worked again. I repeated until I had $1000 to win $1300. The day before (for the total), the limit on the total was $200 and then $100, but for this one it was $200 each. I thought that they were willing to take a higher limit on this game than other games, so no problem.
The game ended 1-1 or 0-0 (can’t remember) so I won both bets. Mvpbets paid both bets.
On June 30th, more than 24 hours after the game, Mvpbets took out $1240 out of my account. I called them and they explained that I overwagered on the total and on Cameroon. The max was $300 only on the total and $200 only on Cameroon. So on the under 2.5, they took back $200 and on Cameroon they took back $1040 for a total of $1240. I talked to Billy at mvpbets.
My point of view:
Limits change all the time from one game to another (which is fine). But they can’t ask me to know what their intended limit is and whether they did not set up the software correctly on a particular game. I am not going to call for every game to make sure the limit is what the software gave me (what’s the point of betting online then?). I just try different amounts and that’s what the limit is. It always worked that way in the past and it was fine. I just assume that they adjust in their software what they want the limit to be on different games. Sometimes $100, sometimes $200, sometimes $200+$100, sometimes $500, sometimes $100+$100, etc.
If they made a mistake and they took more than they wanted on that game, I have no problem if they tell me BEFORE the game starts. But don’t wait 24 hours after the game to take my money. After I argued on this point, Billy went back in my account and found the following three games where I apparently wagered more than what I was “allowed”:
June 14th: New England vs Colorado (MLS): $375 to win $300, I lost. MVPbets gave me back $125 since I overwagered.
May 10th: Deportivo LaCoruna vs Malaga (Spain soccer): $420 to win $300, I won. MVPbets took $100 because I overwagered.
May 4th: FC Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano (Spain): $360 to win $300, I won. MVPbets took $100 because I overwagered.
So they took an additional $75 out of my account after our conversation (100+100-125).
I complained to them that they do this after the game is over so they take a shot at their players. I said I am sure they don’t go back and refund players who lost their bets over $200. They answered sure they do. If that’s the case, I wonder why they did not do it after June 14th when I lost my bet on NE vs Colorado.
After this incident, I closed my account because I felt like I could not trust them anymore. I had been playing with them since for more than one year with no problem.
MVPbets’s point of view:
Billy felt like I was robbing him because I overwagered multiple times. He thinks MVPbets is justified in taking my money away because I bet more than the limit. He did not answer to my question as to how I was supposed to know what the limit was because it changes from one game to another and there is nothing about a $200 limit stated on their website.
After I posted the story on another forum, I e-mailed mvpbets to tell them that I did. Their response was:

Dear ***,
As an MVP Customer you are responsible for researching any rules with us. Please take a look at General Wagering located under Sports Rules on our home page. Take note of section 1.1.1.3. Also, since soccer is not a major sport, wagers are considered props and the $2500 max does not apply.

I think this is a very weak response. I e-mailed back the following:

Where does it say what the maximum on soccer and other "non-major" sports is? Nowhere to be found. As I complained before, the maximum bet allowed by the software changes all the time so there is no way someone can tell what it is. If you wanted to take only $200, then program the software to do that. If you made a mistake and you took more, then limit bets to $200 BEFORE the game starts, not after I won my bets.

Sorry for the length of this, I wanted to be as clear as possible. Please let me know what you think. I am claiming $1315 from Mvpbets.com. Please let me know if you want clarification on any of the above. I will do whatever I can to tell the world that mvpbets are a bunch of crooks unless they pay me what they owe.
