I doubt any jail has enough manpower to physically watch every person on suicide watch 24 hours a day. Can you imagine the added expense to all governmental budgets if we actually did everything the proper way?
At the jails I am familiar with, suicide watch means your own cell, limited access to personal items, and a corrections officer checking on you every 30 minutes while doing their rounds. And 30 minutes is a long time without oxygen.
Even though the conspiracy theories sound whacky suppose their not. Let's say Epstein was removed from his cell and taken to a black site. If you have damaging information on the some of the most powerful people around the world you become a valuable asset. Let some pool reporters view the tape of the suicide and confirm it was indeed Epstein on the tape. Right now all you have are a few select people saying what happened. It's cloaked in secrecy and not transparent. At the very least someone supplied Epstein with some strong sheets because it's been reported the sheets the prisoners are given in the unit are paper thin. A former prisoner also reported that is no place in the cell to hang a sheet so one could commit suicide.
