Started playing online poker for real about 5 days ago and was winning. Went to 3 tables later in week, which I feel I can handle and have struggled a little bit.

Just wondering if anyone that does this has any advice or just a comment on it. When you play multiple tables it is purely systematic as the decisions are pure cut and dry the majority of the time.

Ice,

I recomend at least a 20 inch monitor if not two of them. I prefer not to have any tables overlapping whatsoever. Also you need to make use of the poker tools that are available. PokerTracker, and Poker AceHud. These are so valuable! Obviously your edge will go down slightly the more games you play because you can't give full attention to each game, however it is made up by the extra income you can produce by multitabling. If you can beat 1 table for $20 per hour, then maybe by playing 4 tables your rate might drop to $10 per hour per table x 4= $40 per hour. You will adopt a more systematic approach multitabling, however if you use the above tools you can use them to profile your opponents.

one thing that has helped is always playing the same game. Never play more then one type of poker. Like either play all 1-2 NL Hld em ring games. Or all 10+1 SNG's, or all limit or NL. This may not matter to everyone, but this has helped me.

Smaller monitors are fine in some places since they support adjustable window sizes. If not then a 1600x1200 res monitor will do.

Ice, just keep at it as you should get used to it. Your decision process will become automatic as will your reads. Your play does become a little more robotic the tables tables you add, but like bowlme said this is usually more than made up for with more hands/hr. You're playing low limits I assume so sophisticated play isn't necessary. Won't hurt you much playing multiple tables. Remember it can take some people quite a while to adjust to multitabling, and it is harder if you're 30+ (you'll find nearly all the big multitablers are under 25 and pick it up quicker).

i have found that i am more profitable playing two tables and paying attention to everything that is going on instead of playing like 5 tables and not knowing what each player is doing. knowing other players tendencies and the way that they are currently playing is extremely important. every now and again i will kick it up to 4 or 5 tables if the games are too good to pass up on.

Everything BowlMeOne wrote only double. Pokertracker is a must and a large monitor is, too.
Do not expect to be able to play at the same dollar level you play a single table. In other words, if you normally play 5-10,
play three 3-6 tables instead. You are not going to be able to play several tables as well as a single table, but this is a case of quantity over quality.
It may seem hard to start with, but multi tabling becomes
much easier over time. I now find playing anything less than four tables to be boring.

Doesnt it become difficult to read peoples betting trends if your not seeing the whole game in progress?
