For those in the know, particularly current Canadians or Americans who have moved to Canada in the past..

How hard is it for an American to move to Canada, set up shop there with bank account, etc etc.

I have been reading up on the subject a bit the past couple of months, and it looks like if you are an American without a college degree in a specific professional field that Canada is in need of, it is very difficult to get in. One of my buddies also said about the same thing.

Can anyone explain how difficult it would be, the process of doing so, etc?

Thanks. :103631605

you could buy a degree,,, that may work,, Seriously dont you remember in thelate 80s early 90s, when a dozen or so of bushs' senior staff had to mysteriously quit or transfer themselves? lol, they had used bogus Purchased degrees, and i would suspect the canadians are probably just the group to not figure it out.

Its worth a try

you must really miss pinny LOL

Canada would be safer if you were betting any good amount of money.

I know for a fact I'm not the only person wanting to make the move.

Seriously, this is just a "feeler" for how difficult it might be. From the sounds of it, it is pretty hard so probably not an option right now.

I've looked into it:

Does Canada want you... are you a doctor, nurse, etc ?... if so you are in

Do you have money ?... they'll let you live there if you do, most countries will.

Are you a criminal ( felon in particular)... stopping point there, if so.

This link is to a list of professions and degrees that can qualify you for a renewable one-year TN visa under NAFTA:

http://www.visabureau.com/america/tn-visa-professions.aspx

If you're on the list, you can show up at the Canadian border with your degree, your one-time state license to practice your profession (if applicable), a letter of employment offer from a Canadian firm from your profession, and $56 (you might want to check that fee), and the border official can give you a one year TN visa on the spot.

If you're successful, then get a SIN number (the Canadian SSN) - it will make opening a bank account easier.

I wouldn't be surpised if you could open a bank account before you get a SIN and establish permanent residency. Call a Canadian bank and ask what they want from you.

Good luck.

if ya got a significant amount of money and don't have a criminal record i'm sure they'd let you in

otherwise you probably need to find a job

europe?

:nohead:

europe is screwed to no end and the muslim infestation only gonna get worse (i got nothing against muslim's persay but screw sharia law type shit) cause europe has a huge entitlement system and a shrinking white man population and needs their money and population growth

that said even canadian economy and every other country going down the tube near term its just a matter of how bad relatively each is gonna get......

but canada should be much better off long term....than europe.....

commodities crumbling near term due to the global financial crises stuff so that hurts canada pretty bad

but over the long term (rest of your living life) most of the time the name of the game is gonna be too many people and too few resources and canada has alot of resources

How much is a significant amount of money?

Would I need to sell my house or just have a spare 100-200k?

Here's a question:

What is the #1 country in the world for offshore gambling. As in, legally, banking, and livability.

UK for sure. But anywhere near the major cities, especially London and it's one of the most expensive areas to live in the world.

It's ALL about DRUGS!
In the 1960's I saw a movie called "The Graduate" starring Dustin Hoffman.
Maybe misspelled.

In allmost 50 years!!!--Not much has changed. 'Here's to you ms. Robinson'.

I listen to the oldtimers at the daily OTB ( I'm one of them also). They talk about the drugs the horse is on. (THAT's a HUGE turnoff to the youth of today! You tell them it's ok to use drugs on horses but........
Get real--why does horseracing NEED slots? If you don't get that answer; then---'here's to you ms Robinson'.

Coo-Coo-ka choo!
