C’mon Mom! Reds rookie initially redfaced over t-shirts

As our pal C. Trent Rosecrans points out, most of us wouldn't like it if our mothers ordered 700 t-shirts bearing our names and faces in our first month on a job.
Cincinnati Reds rookie catcher Devin Mesoraco(notes) is apparently no different. According to his mother Laura, he initially protested against her plans to make sure a lot of people from his hometown in Pennsylvania were wearing shirts with his likeness for Saturday night's game at Pittsburgh's PNC Park.
The red t-shirts said "Mez" atop them (short for Mesoraco, of course). You can see a man wearing one behind home plate in the picture above.
From the Punxsutawney Spirit (via OMGReds):
But unfortunately for Mesoraco, the shirts didn't provide any sort of boost (unlike the sign that Mike Napoli's(notes) grandfather made for him). Mesoraco went 0-for-4 at the plate on Saturday and has hit .175:>(/.214/.375 over 15 games since being called up at the beginning of September.

When Devin first heard word via Facebook that his parents were doing the T-shirts, he wasn't exactly thrilled.
"I didn't even tell Devin, and somebody put it on Facebook," Laura said. "I got a text from him at one o'clock in the morning that said, 'No T-shirts!,' but I told him some friends approached us and wanted shirts to wear to support him, so Doug and I sort of took it on so we could get the design we liked."
Mesoraco finally came around when he figured out that the sale of the t-shirts in his hometown could help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
