Guys,

A week ago I asked a book to transfer some money to my bank account. Then after a few days the book tells me that they did not manage to transfer the money to me, because of incorrect details. They then put the money back into my account. Now so far this would be the typical 100% Ido Internet1x2 story of a book that wants to have another shot at you losing your money again. BUT now comes the funniest part of it all: The money has been credited on my bank account.
What to do next?
A) Phone up the bank and tell them that you were told by the transmitter that there were some incorrect details, so that money should not be on your account.
B) Tell the bookie that the money has been credited to your bank account, ask them to double check their own administration.
C) Just do nothing. The one that misses the money will come to you anyhow.

My action in this situation would depend on my relationship with the book. If they have been fair and honest with me up to that point and if I consider them a good book, then I'd probably call them and tell them about the mistake. It doesn't matter how much it is because my conscience could never handle stealing from an honest person. If OTOH they've scammed people in the past I'd probably try to keep the money and then a while later after I've withdrawn everything I might try to find a couple of people they've scammed and give some back to them.

You call them and give the money back!

Why?

HONESTY on your part first and foremost..........two wrongs dont make a right, as Darryl is sort of suggesting.

Secondly, if it is proven you knew about this and tried to pull a fast one, your name could be circulated to other sportsbooks and you will never be able to play with them.

LISTEN TO ME..........THIS IS A NO-BRAINER............YOU TELL THEM THE MISTAKE!

On the good side you are only considering stealing the money -- guys like crudebar wouldn't have given a second though to it, but still ... you need to do the right thing.

Not for some bs karma crap, but simply because a man is only as good as is his integrity.

Was it a big amount ? If so, then:

D) Empty that bank account.

and then

B) Tell the bookie that the money has been credited to your bank account, ask them to double check their own administration.

Just the proper thing to do.

The proper thing to do is to send the funds from your bank account to an escrow account that I have set up. I will email you the bank account info. Please send the funds asap and I will go from there.

Let me start saying that I am on a holiday now and in no hurry to take whatever action. Also fascinating how many of you find it more likely that the book is probably at fault and not the bank. I am not so sure about that.

Fishhead,
Please read my post in:

Imagine me being on the phone with either the bank or the book and say:
"You stupid cvnts! You paid me too much!" Do you think that the person that made the mistake will always get away with it without any repercussions? I think it is better if I give them about a week's time to figure it out themselves and if still nothing happens, I will take some discreet action. To me you sound, as if you would even be frightened to receive some unintended money thinking that the book may deliberately testing your intergrity. Is that how the FBI works these days? The country were I come from such actions are simply forbidden!

matahari,
Now I want to know! Are you Indonesian?

keep the money and "think" about giving it back. if they dont ask for it on their own then you may do what you feel is right. If you feel they are honorable men who have never taken advantage of some poor addictive gambler to enrich themselves I would encourage you to return it.
