It never ends. With the report that the Packers and Jets have agreed on a trade sending Brett Favre to New York, Chris Mortensen is now reporting that many obstacles need to be cleared to turn this into a reality, the most daunting of which would be Brett Favre, as reported on ESPN.</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top width=15>

Mort reports Favre is dying to get back in the league, but he had expressed strong concerns about going to New York. He wasn't excited about their team or their chances to compete, and he had pushed the Packers to trade him to Tampa Bay. Mort now believes the Packers simply ignored Favre and did what was best for them, and in fact may have intentionally designed this deal to influence Favre to once again consider retirement. He reports the Jets are likely to be on the phone right now, attempting to convince Favre to join the Jets, but in the end, the veteran passer still has the power in that he can still retire and walk away from it all. If his anger with the Packers is as strong as most reporters and friends believe it to be, that is not out of the realm of possibility. There will be more drama tomorrow, assuming this is not easily settled (and it sounds as if that is a long shot). We'll keep you posted along the way.
Funny as hell if true.
