Enough Of This Global Warming Nonsense - Loren78

More than 100 scientists rebuke Obama as 'simply incorrect' on global warming

"Few challenges facing America and the world are more urgent than combating climate change. The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear."
- President-elect Barack Obama, 19 Nov 08

With all due respect Mr. President, that is not true.
We, the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated. Surface temperature changes over the past century have been episodic and modest and there has been no net global warming for over a decade now.1,2 After controlling for population growth and property values, there has been no increase in damages from severe weather-related events.3 The computer models forecasting rapid temperature change abjectly fail to explain recent climate behavior.4 Mr. President, your characterization of the scientific facts regarding climate change and the degree of certainty informing the scientific debate is simply incorrect.

Note: Many of the scientists are current and former UN IPCC reviewers and some have reversed their views on man-made warming and are now skeptical.

Also note Nobel Laureate for Physics Dr. Ivar Giaever signed. Giaever endorsed Obama for President in an October 29, 2008 letter. See: http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/the-t...s-endorse-obama

Do those scientists also believe in the flat earth theory?
Those scientists must receive indirect payments from "big oil."

you can find 100 guys in any field to agree with a theory if you make it worth their while. i don't see the direct affects of global warming where i live but there's just too much evidence to dismiss it worldwide. i don't believe half of the things i hear from the scientific community or the government but i do believe this. i bet there are over 10,000 scientists that would sign a letter agreeing that global warming is occuring at an excelerated pace.

I don't believe the argument is about global warming itself, but what is behind it. It appears that there is some warming, but is man the cause or is this just a cycle the planet is going through?

I remember the Time magazine cover from the 70's proclaiming that we are now entering an Ice Age.

What's hilarious with liberals is they believe any scientist that has an opposing view is a pawn of big oil. Meanwhile any scientist that has a supporting view of GW is an honest, honorable and completely impartial person.

Facts:
1) The earth is millions of years old.

2) We have maybe 150 years of accurate weather data.

3) In the last 40 years we have had hysteria first about an impending ice age and now the big melt.

4) Assumptions are being made as to the cause of GW based on such a miniscule window of data. 150 years of data is like a heartbeat when you consider the age of the earth.

5) Whether you believe in man-made GW or not, it is incredibly closed-minded to state that the debate is over and the facts are in. Or as you implied anyone with an opposing view is a right-wing whacko who must have been paid off by big oil.

Good post. Ironic posting name for this thread. :):)

I was going to bring up the weather data fact as well. I mean, how long have we really kept accurate weather data? This planet has been covered in ice before, deserts in some areas were once seas or large bodies of water, etc... The Earth goes through cycles, hot and cold.

I think the hysteria is built around money myself.

Yep The automakers mistakes were minuscule and Obama's a fool.

Who is begging who for money?

Look in the classifieds for a 4 year old Buick, then for a Toyota Avalon of the same age. Why are people not buying the Buick? Why would anybody buy a new Buick?

Maybe people should buy a Buick, they have overtaken Lexus and are #1 in vehicle reliability, ending a 14 year run by Lexus.

4 year old is a good buy. New is not. Depreciates too fast. Good cars, I inherited my moms 95 park avenue, garage kept 55K, however it will be a third choice to my old Infinity and my wife's old Infinity.

I've always just considered a Buick to be the kind of car an older person drives fro some reason. I don't see many on the road when I'm driving. Aside from my Yukon, I've always had an Accord myself.
