5-Unit Play: Take 957 Cubs -125 over Brewers (2:10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 3)
I'm backing the Cubs with Hamels over Davies on Monday afternoon. Cole Hamels is back in the National League and it has done wonders for his performance on the mound as he has allowed only three earned runs in six starts and the Cubs have won all of them. Hamels was getting clobbered in the American League with the Rangers, but there are some pitchers that have a hard time adjusting to the DH rule for any length of time. Hamels was 4-0 with a 0.69 ERA in the month of August and Chicago has won 10 of its last 12 games. The Cubs have won eight of the last 11 meetings and they have won nine of their last 10 overall versus right-handed starters, including Sunday's win against Aaron Nola and the Phillies. Milwaukee lost six of Zach Davies' eight starts before he went on the disabled list and he'll make his first start since May 29. Davies had a 5.82 ERA at home and 2.04 away in 2017 and this year his home ERA is 5.33 and he's 1-3 with a 7.45 ERA in four night games. We're backing the Cubs on Monday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
