MLB | Red Sox vs Rangers
Play on: Red Sox -115 at betonline

Play - Boston Red Sox w/Porcello (Game 911).

Edges - Red Sox: Porcello 5-0 last five team starts in July, and 3-0 last three team starts in this series… Rangers: Perez 1-6 team starts at night this season, and 5.64 ERA with 1.59 WHIP last seven overall team starts. With Texas just 2-7 on Mondays this season, we recommend a 1* play on Boston. Thank you and good luck as always.

MLB | NYM vs WAS
Play on: UNDER 8½ +100

1* Bonus Play under Mets/Nationals. Recent form displayed by these starting pitchers suggests we’ll have a classic “pitches duel” on our hands in this one. Steven Matz (2-1, 2.67 ERA) has been excellent for the Mets since returning from injury, having completed seven innings in three of his first four outings (1.07 WHIP.) Matz most recently held Miami scoreless over six frames while stirking out four and walking one (is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA on the road.) The Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg (9-2, 3.51) comes in off a strong performance against the Cubs, holding the defending champs to three runs (just two earned) off four hits with one walk while striking out 13 over seven innings. As mentioned off the top, recent form suggests that runs will be at a premium tonight. Consider the under.

GAME: Baltimore Orioles (40-41) at Milwaukee Brewers (44-40)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Baltimore Orioles received solid efforts from two of the players they need to turn things around in order to stay in contention. Now at the halfway point of their season, the Orioles begin a big seven-game road trip prior to the All-Star break when they open a three-game series at the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.

Manny Machado, who is hitting just .217, smacked a three-run homer to back seven scoreless innings by struggling starter Kevin Gausman in Sunday's 7-1 win over Tampa Bay at home. "I hope so," manager Buck Showalter told reporters when asked if those performances were an indication of a turnaround. "It's something that has to happen for us to get where we need to get." The Brewers remain in first place in the National League Central, but they saw their lead cut to two games following Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Miami Marlins. With Chase Anderson going on the 10-day disabled list last week, Milwaukee will give a spot start to southpaw Brent Suter.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, MASN (Baltimore), FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles LH Wade Miley (3-6, 4.54 ERA) vs. Brewers LH Brent Suter (0-1, 4.20)

Miley has failed to get through six innings in five consecutive starts, allowing 22 earned runs in 20 2/3 frames during the slump. He also has an unsightly 8.83 ERA over his last four road outings, serving up six home runs in that span and issuing more walks (13) than strikeouts (10). The Louisiana native has a 5.17 ERA in five career starts against the Brewers and an 8.38 mark in two appearances at Miller Park.

Suter will be making his fourth career start and second of the season, the first of which saw him give up three runs in 4 2/3 innings during a loss at St. Louis on June 13. He has a 3.48 ERA in seven relief appearances in 2017, striking out 10 batters in 10 1/3 innings. The Harvard product was 3-1 with a 4.42 mark in 10 games (eight starts) for Triple-A Colorado Springs before his recall in late June.

WALK-OFFS

1. Brewers IF Eric Sogard is 3-for-23 over a seven-game span to cause his average to fall from .366 to .326.

2. Baltimore C Caleb Joseph is 9-for-14 with a home run and five runs scored over his last five games.

3. Orioles closer Zach Britton (forearm) is scheduled to have his final rehab appearance Monday with Single-A Frederick.

GAME: New York Mets (38-43) at Washington Nationals (48-34)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 6:05 PM EST
WHERE: Nationals Park, Washington, District of Columbia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The New York Mets have a chance to climb back into the race for the National League East crown if they can continue their improved play and finish with a successful six-game road trip before the All-Star break. The Mets have won seven of nine as they open their trek with the first of three contests against the NL East-leading Washington Nationals on Monday.

New York has inched within 9 ½ games of the Nationals but was held to two hits in a 7-1 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday as its four-game winning streak came to an end without Curtis Granderson, who is day-to-day after sitting out with a stiff hip. Steven Matz looks to continue his solid work on the mound in the series opener as he faces Stephen Strasburg, who has split a pair of decisions against the Mets this year. Strasburg was one of five Nationals named to the NL All-Star team on Sunday - joining pitcher Max Scherzer, outfielder Bryce Harper, second baseman Daniel Murphy and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman - but the club is just 6-8 in its last 14 contests. However, Harper homered twice while knocking in four runs in Sunday’s 7-2 victory at St. Louis, and Washington is 7-3 against New York this season.

TV: 6:05 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), MASN2 (Washington)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets LH Steven Matz (2-1, 2.67 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (9-2, 3.51)

Matz is coming off the best of his four starts this season as he limited Miami to six hits over seven scoreless frames while recording four strikeouts on Wednesday. The 26-year-old, who dealt with elbow issues to begin the year, posted his only non-quality start against Washington on June 16, when he gave up four runs and eight hits - three homers - in seven innings. Murphy is 3-for-9 with a homer versus Matz, who went 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA in two starts against the Nationals in 2016.

Strasburg battled through back spasms in his last outing but struck out 13 and permitted three runs - two earned - over seven innings to defeat the Chicago Cubs. The 28-year-old San Diego State product has registered double-figure strikeouts in four of his last eight starts and has recorded 122 overall while issuing 28 walks in 102 2/3 frames. Yoenis Cespedes (7-for-12) and Jay Bruce (8-for-19, one homer) cause trouble for Strasburg, who is 8-4 with a 2.69 ERA in 14 career games against the Mets.

WALK-OFFS

1. New York OF Michael Conforto (.285 batting average, 14 homers, 41 RBIs) was named to the NL All-Star team as the team’s lone representative.

2. Murphy has reached base in 16 consecutive games overall and is batting .391 with eight homers and 29 RBIs in 29 career contests against the Mets.

3. Cespedes is 4-for-29 without an extra-base hit over his last seven games, but the Cuban is 5-for-12 with a home run against the Nationals this season.

GAME: Toronto Blue Jays (37-44) at New York Yankees (43-37)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Aaron Judge became the first New York Yankees player under the age of 26 to be voted an All-Star starter since Willie Randolph in 1973 on Sunday and he remains an MVP candidate, but he is having some trouble dragging the Yankees into the win column. The Yankees will try to take advantage of a slumping division foe when they host the Toronto Blue Jays in the opener of a three-game series on Monday.

New York has lost 14 of its last 19 contests to slip three games behind the rival Boston Red Sox despite a roster that includes five AL All-Stars. "Nobody is as disappointed in the way the last few weeks have gone than the guys in this room," veteran outfielder Brett Gardner told reporters after an 8-1 loss at Houston on Sunday. "That being said, we're only a couple of games out of first place. We have had a good first half. We just couldn't seem to come through with the big hit." The Blue Jays spent their weekend getting swept by the Red Sox, capped by a 15-1 drubbing on Sunday, and are losers of four straight and eight of their last 10 games. Toronto will try to get things right behind right-hander Marcus Stroman on Monday while the Yankees counter with Masahiro Tanaka.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, Sportsnet, TVA Sports (Toronto), YES (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Marcus Stroman (8-4, 3.41 ERA) vs. Yankees RH Masahiro Tanaka (6-7, 5.56)

Stroman bounced back from a poor start with one of his best on Wednesday, when he scattered five hits and one walk while striking out eight in 7 2/3 scoreless innings to earn a win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Duke product was lit up for seven runs in four innings at Texas on June 22 but surrendered three or fewer runs in five of his last six turns. Stroman yielded two runs and five hits in six innings against New York on June 4 and is 5-2 with a 2.91 ERA in 10 career starts versus the Yankees.

Tanaka seems to be pulling out of the funk that caused him to suffer six losses in seven starts and is coming off his first win since early May. The Japan native, who tossed eight scoreless innings without factoring in the decision on June 23 against Texas, scattered two runs and six hits over six frames at the Chicago White Sox to win on Wednesday. Tanaka was not at his best against Toronto on May 2 but still managed a win while surrendering four runs in 6 1/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Yankees C Gary Sanchez, 2B Starlin Castro and RHPs Luis Severino and Dellin Betances joined Judge on the All-Star team.

2. Toronto 1B Justin Smoak was voted an All-Star starter and is the team's lone representative.

3. New York RHP Adam Warren (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Sunday and could be activated off the disabled list during the series.

GAME: Pittsburgh Pirates (37-45) at Philadelphia Phillies (27-53)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Pittsburgh Pirates' goal of reaching .500 before the All-Star break and setting themselves up to make a run at the National League Central title in the second half hit a bit of a snag of late. The Pirates will try to break out of a three-game slide when they visit the major league-worst Philadelphia Phillies on Monday for the first of four contests between the rivals.

The Pirates were 37-42 after taking two of three from the Tampa Bay Rays to begin a homestand last week but fell right back down over the weekend while being swept by the visiting San Francisco Giants. Pittsburgh mustered a total of four runs in 20 innings on Saturday and Sunday and is last in the NL Central with 345 runs on the season. The Phillies are even worse with the bats at a total of 312 runs but pushed across seven of those on Sunday in a win at the New York Mets - their third victory in the last five games. Philadelphia will try to keep the bats going on Monday in support of right-hander Aaron Nola, who opposes Pirates veteran Ivan Nova.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, ROOT Pittsburgh, CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates RH Ivan Nova (8-5, 3.08 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Aaron Nola (5-5, 4.13)

Nova failed to complete six innings for the first time this season against Tampa Bay on Wednesday but still managed to earn a win while allowing two runs and seven hits in five frames. The Dominican Republic native surrendered three or fewer earned runs in 13 of his first 16 starts and got by on Wednesday without overpowering stuff while matching a season low with one strikeout. Nova started against Philadelphia on May 20 and struck out three while allowing three runs and nine hits in 7 1/3 innings to pick up a win.

Nola lost five of six starts after returning to the majors on May 21 but turned things around with back-to-back wins in his last two outings. The 24-year-old Louisiana native surrendered a total of three runs and nine hits while striking out 17 in 14 1/3 innings against St. Louis and Seattle. Nola was just as strong at Pittsburgh on May 21 but could not get enough support to reach the win column and suffered a loss despite allowing one run and four hits in seven innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen hit .411 in June and is 1-for-4 in July after sitting out Sunday.

2. Philadelphia rookie LF Nick Williams is 4-for-11 with a pair of runs scored since making his major league debut.

3. Pittsburgh 1B Josh Bell (15) needs one home run to break a tie with Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner for the most by a rookie prior to the All-Star break in franchise history.

GAME: Miami Marlins (36-44) at St. Louis Cardinals (39-42)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 7:15 PM EST
WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

One day after having a pair of winning streaks halted, the St. Louis Cardinals attempt to begin another one when they host the Miami Marlins on Monday for the opener of their four-game series. St. Louis suffered a 7-2 loss to Washington on Sunday, ending its strings of overall wins and home triumphs at four.

The Cardinals, who fell to 2-1 on their 10-game homestand, managed only five hits in the setback and avoided being shut out when Tommy Pham belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning. Miami halted a four-game skid and avoided being swept by posting a 10-3 victory at Milwaukee on Sunday. Christian Yelich led a 17-hit attack with four while J.T. Realmuto and Marcell Ozuna each recorded three, with the latter driving in four runs with a pair of homers. One of two players who will represent the Marlins when they host the All-Star Game, Ozuna leads the club with 22 blasts - one shy of the career high he set in 2014 and matched last season.

TV: 7:15 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), FSN Midwest (St. Louis)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins LH Jeff Locke (0-4, 5.52 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Adam Wainwright (8-5, 5.17)

Locke has yet to find the win column this season despite allowing three earned runs or fewer in five of his six outings. The 29-year-old native of New Hampshire is coming off a loss to the New York Mets on Wednesday in which he gave up three runs and four hits over 5 2/3 innings. Locke has made 11 career appearances (10 starts) against St. Louis, going 2-4 with a 4.98 ERA.

Wainwright has yielded two runs in each of his last two turns, including a victory at Arizona on Wednesday in which he gave up eight hits and struck out eight over 6 1/3 innings. The 35-year-old Georgian has been superb at home this season, going 5-1 with a 2.64 ERA in eight outings while posting an 8.36 mark over eight road starts. Wainwright is 5-2 with two shutouts and a 2.37 ERA in 11 career games (nine starts) against the Marlins, including a no-decision at Miami on May 9 in which he allowed four runs over 5 1/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton will join Ozuna as the team's All-Star representatives, while C Yadier Molina and RHP Carlos Martinez were the Cardinals selected to the National League squad.

2. The Cardinals acquired 3B Stanley Espinal and SS Imeldo Diaz from Boston, as well as OF Lane Thomas from Toronto, in exchange for cash considerations allotted for baseball's international signing period.

3. Miami, which was swept by St. Louis in a three-game series at home in May, is 1-2 on its 10-game road trip.

GAME: Boston Red Sox (47-35) at Texas Rangers (40-42)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Boston Red Sox right-fielder Mookie Betts did not have his name announced among the starters in the outfield for the American League in the All-Star Game on Sunday, but he is sure playing like a star. Betts will try to follow up an eight-RBI outburst when the Red Sox continue their road trip by visiting the Texas Rangers on Monday.

Betts finished second in the MVP voting last season but got off to a bit of a slow start with the bat in 2017 before turning it on of late and became the first leadoff hitter in franchise history to amass eight RBIs during Sunday's 15-1 thrashing of Toronto, which gave Boston four straight wins. "I felt pretty good," Betts told reporters. "I got some good pitches to hit and tried to put a good swing on it and hope for the best at that point." Betts is 4-for-9 with a pair of RBIs in his career against Rangers left-hander Martin Perez, who gets the start on Monday opposite Red Sox righty Rick Porcello. Texas should be happy to return home after dropping four of their last five to finish up a 4-6 road trip.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, ESPN, NESN (Boston), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox RH Rick Porcello (4-10, 5.06 ERA) vs. Rangers LH Martin Perez (4-6, 4.70)

Porcello allowed four runs and six hits in six innings to suffer a loss against Minnesota on Wednesday - the sixth time in the last nine outings that he yielded at least four earned runs. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner is allowing opponents to hit .312 against him while surrendering the most hits (138) in the majors. Porcello yielded 11 hits and five runs - four earned - in 6 /23 innings against Texas on May 23 but received enough support to come away with a win.

Perez is making his first start since June 22 after spending time on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured tip of his right thumb. The Venezuela native suffers from some of the same issues as Porcello and is allowing opponents a .315 batting average, though he received enough support to come away with the win in his last two turns. Perez was solid at Boston in a no decision on May 24, allowing three runs and six hits in 6 1/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Red Sox RHP Joe Kelly has not allowed a run in any of his last 22 appearances - the longest active streak in the majors.

2. Texas SS Elvis Andrus recorded multiple hits in six of the last 10 games to lift his batting average to .302.

3. Boston 3B Pablo Sandoval (inner ear infection) is 6-for-23 with three RBIs in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket.

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (35-46) at Colorado Rockies (48-36)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Colorado Rockies limp home following a miserable road trip to begin a four-game series with the visiting Cincinnati Reds. The seven-game homestand against the last-place Reds and last-place Chicago White Sox may give the Rockies an opportunity to pick up the pieces before the All-Star break.

Colorado went 1-8 on the road trip after a painful 4-3 walk-off loss in Arizona on Sunday and has dropped 10 of 11 overall to sink seven games back in the National League West. The Rockies also lost left fielder Ian Desmond to a calf injury during Sunday's loss, but Carlos Gonzalez (shoulder) is scheduled to come off the disabled list Monday and Gerardo Parra (quadriceps) could begin a rehab stint. The Reds were unable to complete a sweep of the Chicago Cubs by dropping Sunday's series finale 6-2. Shortstop Zack Cozart was named an All-Star for the first time Sunday, while first baseman Joey Votto received his fifth nod.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), ROOT Rocky Mountain (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Luis Castillo (0-0, 3.38 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Jeff Hoffman (4-1, 4.04)

Castillo has left with the lead in each of his first two major-league starts, only to see a pair of blown saves deprive him of a win. He limited Milwaukee to two runs and five hits while striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday. The 24-year-old, who was 4-4 with a 2.58 ERA at Double-A Pensacola before his recent promotion, has held left-handed hitters to a .222 average while right-handers have batted .316.

Hoffman has allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts after giving up two in 6 2/3 innings at San Francisco on Tuesday. The former first-round pick has not allowed a home run in 21 2/3 innings over his last four appearances. Hoffman has struggled like so many before him at Coors Field, allowing 14 runs in 15 1/3 innings at home this year.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado and CF Charlie Blackmon were selected as starters for the NL All-Star team, while 2B DJ LeMahieu was chosen as a reserve and closer Greg Holland was the team's lone pitcher selected.

2. Votto has recorded four straight two-hit games.

3. Blackmon is batting .390 with 10 home runs at Coors Field.

GAME: Los Angeles Angels (43-43) at Minnesota Twins (41-40)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The road was the Minnesota Twins' home away from home as recently as last weekend, but a rough ending to an 11-game trek might have the team ready to see if it can pick things up at Target Field. The Twins begin a seven-game homestand leading into the All-Star break when they open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday.

Minnesota reclaimed first place in the American League Central for a day following a three-game sweep at Cleveland in late June, improving to 23-9 on the road. The Twins went 2-6 over the remainder of the trip, however, and own a 16-25 record at Target Field - good for a league-worst .390 home winning percentage. The Angels are coming off a 5-3 home loss in Sunday's rubber match against Seattle and have dropped three of four overall. Yunel Escobar has been on a tear for Los Angeles since June 16, batting .381 while hitting safely in 10 of 12 games.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, FSN West (Los Angeles), FSN North (Minnesota)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Alex Meyer (3-4, 3.74 ERA) vs. Twins LH Adalberto Mejia (3-3, 4.38)

Meyer struggled with his command, issuing a career high-tying five walks, but was otherwise sharp in a no-decision against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday as he allowed one hit in six scoreless innings. The outing marked the third time in his last five turns the 27-year-old Kentucky product did not give up an earned run, wrapping up a month in which he went 1-2 despite a 2.25 ERA in six trips to the mound. Meyer settled for another no-decision on June 1 against Minnesota, permitting one run in six frames.

Mejia did not allow a run for the second straight outing Wednesday at Boston, recording the win after giving up five hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings. The 24-year-old Dominican, who blanked Cleveland across five frames five days earlier, has yielded a total of two runs over his last three starts after surrendering nine (eight earned) on June 12 against Seattle. Mejia did not factor in the decision in his head-to-head battle with Meyer on June 1 despite giving up one run in six frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Angels DH Albert Pujols is 3-for-26 over his last seven contests and has not homered since June 17 - a span of 13 games.

2. Twins 1B Joe Mauer is a career .340 hitter against Los Angeles.

3. Minnesota has won seven of the last 10 meetings between the teams, including three of four at Angel Stadium from June 1-4.

GAME: Chicago White Sox (36-45) at Oakland Athletics (35-47)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 9:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Chicago White Sox seek their fourth win in five contests when they begin a six-game road trip Monday with the first of three against the Oakland Athletics. Chicago completed a 4-6 homestand with Sunday's 6-5 triumph over Texas that featured Yolmer Sanchez's two-run homer in the eighth inning that erased a one-run deficit.

Melky Cabrera also went deep Sunday to finish the three-game series 5-for-11 with three RBIs and recorded at least one hit in eight contests during the homestand, registering four multi-hit performances along the way. Oakland vies for its first victory during a six-game homestand that began with a three-game sweep at the hands of Atlanta. Khris Davis hit his team-leading 23rd homer in Sunday's 12-inning 4-3 setback, which extended the Athletics' overall slide to five contests. Oakland could be without slugger Ryon Healy, who left Sunday's game with back spasms.

TV: 9:05 p.m. ET, CSN Chicago, NBCSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Carlos Rodon (0-1, 0.00 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Jharel Cotton (5-7, 5.02)

Rodon will be making his second start of the season after recovering from biceps bursitis. The 24-year-old Floridian lasted five innings against the New York Yankees on Wednesday, allowing three unearned runs and two hits while issuing six walks. Rodon has yet to defeat Oakland is his brief career, going 0-1 while yielding seven runs over 11 frames in two starts.

Cotton has won back-to-back outings after going 0-4 over his previous five. The 25-year-old native of the Virgin Islands has struggled at home this season, posting a 7.09 ERA while going 2-3 in six turns as opposed to a 3.26 mark over seven road outings. Cotton recorded the victory at Chicago in his last start on June 23, scattering three hits over five scoreless innings in his only career turn against the White Sox before leaving with a blister on his thumb.

WALK-OFFS

1. Chicago OF Avisail Garcia was selected as the team's lone All-Star while Oakland 1B Yonder Alonso will represent his club.

2. The Athletics, who recalled Zach Neal and optioned fellow RHP Jesse Hahn to Triple-A Nashville, lead the majors in errors (74) and the White Sox are second (67).

3. Chicago began its 10-game homestand by scoring a total of five runs while being swept by Oakland in three straight contests.

GAME: Kansas City Royals (41-40) at Seattle Mariners (41-42)
DATE/TIME: Monday, July 03 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Kansas City Royals began to turn around their season during their first West Coast trip of the season, and they hope their second such trek can help their cause to make a late push for the division lead prior to the All-Star break. The Royals attempt to move two games over .500 for the first time this season Monday, when they open a three-game series against the host Seattle Mariners.

Kansas City (41-40) fell to 26-34 following a loss in San Diego on June 9 before winning seven of its last eight in California, taking series from the Padres, San Francisco and the Los Angeles Angels behind a revitalized offense that averaged 7.4 runs in its victories on the trip. The Royals won for the 15th time in 21 games Sunday against Minnesota, taking three of four in the series to pull into a tie with the Twins for second place in the American League Central - three games behind Cleveland. Seattle took the rubber match of its three-game weekend set with the Angels, getting a much-needed series victory after losing its final four contests during a nine-game homestand. Robinson Cano is batting .300 with six homers and 20 RBIs over his last 10 games for the Mariners and continued his recent power surge with a three-run blast on Sunday.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, FSN Kansas City, ROOT Northwest (Seattle)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals RH Ian Kennedy (2-6, 4.72 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Andrew Moore (1-0, 3.86)

Kennedy won for the second time in three starts Wednesday at Detroit after failing to do so once over his first 11 turns, permitting two runs on a pair of solo homers - and five hits overall - in seven frames. Although he gave up a home run for the 11th consecutive outing, the 32-year-old completed seven innings for the first time since April 22. Kennedy, who has posted a 4.74 ERA on the road despite holding hitters to a .191 average, is 1-2 with a 4.30 ERA in three career starts against the Mariners.

Moore is expected to arrive from Triple-A Tacoma in time to make his second career start after a strong debut against Detroit on June 22, when he yielded three runs and six hits while throwing 100 pitches over seven innings. The 23-year-old Oregon State product is 4-3 with a 2.67 ERA over 15 appearances (14 starts) in two minor-league stops so far this season. Over 57 games (50 starts) during his minor-league career, Moore is 17-8 with a 2.58 ERA, 257 strikeouts and 50 walks in 289 2/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Royals SS Alcides Escobar went 7-for-16 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBIs against Minnesota over the weekend.

2. Mariners DH Nelson Cruz (knee) did not play Sunday and is day-to-day with a right knee injury.

3. Kansas City has won eight of its last 11 road games and is 15-10 away from home since beginning the season 2-11.
