KEY STAT: Randers were winless in their final five Superliga games last term

EXPERT VERDICT: These two middle-of-the-road sides won’t be troubling the top end this season, but Esbjerg are capable of following up on their Europa League qualification of last campaign. Randers proved to be something of a bogey team last year, winning all three meetings, but the home side should put things right.

RECOMMENDATION: Esbjerg

# 4 LATE TO THE PARTY 4/1

# 3 I'M SMOKIN HOT 9/2

# 6 DREAMING IS FREE 7/2

My selection for this event is LATE TO THE PARTY. Is worth thinking about and may be a bet - strong Equibase Speed Figs (75 average) at today's distance and surface lately. Campitelli has her trained solidly to break promptly out of the gate. Has to be used in the exotic offerings. I'M SMOKIN HOT - Has to be given consideration versus this field displaying decent figures lately and an average speed figure of 73 under similar conditions. Albright has her trained admirably to break swiftly out of the starting gate. DREAMING IS FREE - Displays solid Equibase Speed Figs on average overall when put alongside the rest of this group of horses. Is a solid contender - given the 81 Equibase Speed Figure from her most recent race.

# 8 RAVINE 5/2

# 9 FIRST CALL CORONA 5/1

# 3 FLASHS BEST SPLASH 3/1

I back RAVINE here. Has run admirably when travelling a short race. With one of the top riders in terms of profits at the window, don't count this filly out. Thedford has recent return on investment figs which make this horse a good wager. FIRST CALL CORONA - Recent figs for the rider - 16 win percent - make this gelding stand out in this field. The drastic drop in class can only aid this one today. FLASHS BEST SPLASH - With a very strong 78 Equibase Speed Figure last time out, will surely be a factor in this race. Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Fales have shown solid results lately.

RACE #8 - SARATOGA RACE COURSE - 4:45 PM EASTERN POST

The Shine Again Stakes

7.0 FURLONGS DIRT FILLIES AND MARES FOUR YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $100,000.00 PURSE

#2 GRACE HALL
#4 MY MISS AURELIA
#5 ANGEL'S GLORY
#3 BRIDGEHAMPTON

Well folks ... the folks at N.Y.R.A. are noting that this is the first running of this stake race, however, I "think" that "I beg to differ!" The Shine Again Stakes was run during the latter part of May during Preakness week at Pimlico!. The race was named in honor of Shine Again, a fourth generation homebred in Allaire duPont's stable. She was brilliant over three seasons of competition in which she was named Maryland-bred horse of the Year in 2003, Maryland-bred champion older mare in three consecutive years while earning state-bred champion sprinter title in two of those years. She retired after the 2003 season as the ninth leading Maryland-bred money earner of all time, with $1,271,840. From 34 career starts, she won 14 races (eight stakes), was second 10 times (eight stakes) and third in seven others (five stakes).

Shine Again was a daughter of Wild Again out of the Two Punch mare Shiner. Shine Again was under the guidance of Hall of Fame trainer Allen Jerkins, she won four stakes races that season including the grade one Ballerina Handicap at Saratoga Race Course plus the grade two First Flight Handicap and placed in four other graded stakes races. The very next year she returned to defend her titles in the Ballerina and the First Flight and won both, she also had five graded stakes placings including the grade one Ruffian Handicap. She just missed the three-peat in the Ballerina at age six, finishing second by a neck. In that year she won the grade two Genuine Risk Handicap while placing in five other additional graded stakes races. In any regards, in this year's version at Saratoga, #2 GRACE HALL, takes a class drop (-4), and has produced "POWER RUNS" in each of her last five outings, hitting the board in four of those "adventures." #4 MY MISS AUREALIA is probably more talented, and she has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in five straight, winning in both her 4th and 5th races back. Jockey John Velazquez and Trainer Todd Pletcher send her to the post for the "Monday Feature" ... they've hit the board with 56% of nearly 250 entries saddled as a team to date. I downgraded her a "notch on my contender's list however, as she has not raced in more than a year ... 491 days ago to be more precise.

#3 SPORTSWRITER (ML=6/1)
#5 HELLO PRINCE (ML=3/1)

SPORTSWRITER - When a sprinter is back in a race less than 10 days after his last outing, it generally means he's fit. Stalking speed. My peers and I like this thoroughbred. Another way to determine class is earnings per start. This horse has the highest in the bunch. I think he'll be close at the finish line. HELLO PRINCE - He must like the track here. Shipped in to win on Jun 4th and he looks tough once again. That 94 fig this horse registered in his last event tells me he's a main player this time out.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 BOWMAN'S BOY (ML=9/5), #7 FILLED WITH WONDER (ML=7/2), #1 ISOLATION ROAD (ML=8/1),

BOWMAN'S BOY - The Brain always tells me to stay away from thoroughbreds in sprint races that haven't hit the board in short distance races of late. Finished sixth last time out. Would have to improve to finish in the money in today's event. Hasn't raced or had any morning blow outs since June 1st. Not much value on this chalk horse. Don't feel this questionable contender will make an impact in today's event. That last speed figure was somewhat easily forgotten when compared with today's class figure. FILLED WITH WONDER - This pony ran a run-of-the-mill speed rating in the last race. He shouldn't run much better and will probably suffer defeat in today's race running that fig. ISOLATION ROAD - Tough to put any dough on this gelding on the top end. Likes to hit the board though. The speed fig in the last race doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class figure of today's race. Mark this horse as a questionable challenger.

#7 MASTER OF ALL (ML=3/1)
#3 JONATHAN C (ML=5/2)

MASTER OF ALL - This gelding ran well in his last race but just couldn't topple the winner. Note that he was well clear of the show horse, and looks like a major contender in this field. This gelding is in nice form. Ended up second on Jul 9th. Sophisticated handicappers will tell you that this horse has strong early speed. This equine is tops in earnings per start. He looks strong in today's event. I'm focusing on the class of this magnificent animal, and this one is the 'classiest' of the bunch. JONATHAN C - Owns the highest speed rating on the turf at this distance. Grullon brings him back again. I recommend you stick with this strong horse. Recent speed ratings show dominant pattern of improvement.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 JO JO (ML=4/1), #6 COOL IT CONDON (ML=5/1), #2 MEGGIESRAINBOBRIDG (ML=6/1),

COOL IT CONDON - Should be difficult for this animal to beat this group off of that last speed rating. Improbable to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's class rating, so put him on the possibly overvalued equines list.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - MASTER OF ALL - With the highest last speed rating of 65, this gelding looks exceptional against these horses.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

Bet on #7 MASTER OF ALL to win if you can get at least 9/5 odds

Northfield: Monday 7/21 Analysis + Pick Four ticket

DRF HARNESS

Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Jeremey’s $1 Pick Four Play:

1 / 5,6,7 / 2,3 / 1,2,4 = $18

Best Bet: ACTION METRO MAX (8th)

Spot Play: TEDDY KGB (4th)

Race 1

In a field with few contenders (9) CATCH THAT ANGEL should get a good spot out of the gate to have a shot late. (1) R MASTER SCOTT scored for new trainer showing significant improvement. The 5-year-old will take heavy tote action with the top driver and could be vulnerable late. (5) LIGHTNINGINTHESKY has been pacing some fast miles but is probably better used underneath.

Race 2

(9) NORMA'S ROSE hasn't won in a long time but is facing her softest field in some time; threat. (1) TASTE OF PARADISE tired badly last out but does own a burst of speed in a suspect field. (5) TROTALOT gelding takes a significant drop in class and gets a much better post to try his luck.

Race 3

(5) WESTERN CHURCHILL well bred pacer faces much easier and will be used aggressively down in class. (9) FUDGE also faces easier and gets a hot pilot. (6) FLY BY RY could be overbet based on his lines at Pocono but has made more money in the field by far.

Race 4

In a wide open field (2) TEDDY KGB could show improvement first time out for a new trainer. (7) HEZA STAR CRUISER faces easier but has just been racing evenly; command a price. (6) DON'T BETREI ME owns a win against better and will be used aggressively.

Race 5

(2) STORMY GHOST is very inconsistent but does have the ability; threat. (9) TERROR OF THE TRACK needs to get a good spot out of the gate but does own a decent burst. (3) WARDOG HALL is just now rounding back into racing shape and should show some improvement.

Race 6

(4) HERECOMESTHECHIEF raced gamely last out just missing getting picked off late. (3) AL BROWN finally gets a good post against a very inconsistent field. (1) MYSTERY XPOSED a good effort puts the trotter on the ticket.

Race 7

(8) LOST JEWELS will offer a big price and has been deceptively sharp racing from very tough posts. The gelding owns some back class and could use a fast pace up front to close into. (5) BEANS AND WEENIES was a game winner at this level last out and should be in the mix late. (2) THE CLASSIC Z TAM came up empty last start but was sharp in his prior starts.

Race 8

(1) ACTION METRO MAX went a big effort last out just missing. The pacer will be tough to catch with any kind of breather up front. (9) SANTA'S SPECIAL should be able to get a ground saving trip and with some luck maybe get one run late. (4) OUR MCLOVIN has went some tough trips but should hit the ticket with a good effort.

Race 9

(7) KIRTY DREAM was the driver's choice and will be blasting early. (6) MYTHICAL HALL mare also owns good gate speed and her only chance is to move forward off the gate. (5) MISS PANTHERS the driver opted elsewhere but the well bred mare has a post edge on her main rivals.

Race 10

(2) HARE CRAFT never had a chance last out from a tough post but had been sharp prior. (3) THORN IN YOUR SIDE got an easy victory down in class but would need much more to hit the top spot. (1) MIDNIGHT GAMBOL gets the best post but takes a huge step up in class; use underneath.

Race 11

(4) WIND SURFER is the horse to beat and should offer a fair price. (1) HELLO CARLO was the driver's choice, gets the best post, and looks to be in line for an ideal trip. (2) CHANGE THE FUTURE driver opted elsewhere and the gelding was roughed up last out but had raced really well the start prior.

Race 12

(1) CYCLONE ASHORE has been really good at this level, and went a big effort against a game opponent last start. (3) KEVLAR HANOVER veteran pacer makes his third start back off a long layoff and could be ready for an improved effort. (2) NOAH C raced much better against this group last out; threat.

Race 13

(4) RUST BELT takes a significant drop in class and has made the most money in the field by far. (3) AT DAYBREAK doesn't win often but gets a better pilot and races better forwardly placed. (1) IMPRESSIVE JET could hit the ticket at a big price for a new trainer.

Race 14

(6) TAKE A WALK well bred stallion needed his last start and is capable of pulling the upset when he decides to pace. (9) GEM HEIST looks to offer low value against a better field; use caution. (3) JAY DEAN DEW finds a wide open race has been very competitive at this level.

Race 15

(2) BET ON ART had almost six weeks in between starts and should have much more to offer. (5) ON EAGLES WINGS is 0 for the year but has a good move when timed right. (9) ART'S BOY was parked the mile last out but showed a lot of fight; threat.

# 10 ONTHEROAD DE VIE 15/1

# 2 MUSCLES ALL OVER 7/1

# 3 NUMBERS GAME 5/2

We've got a feeling ONTHEROAD DE VIE is going to get the trip to the winner's circle and the potential win price justifies the long odds. The consortium knows that speed is the key in harness racing. This contender will unlock our way to a nice win. He has great class figures, averaging 64. Should be considered for a bet today. Could be considered for this one if only for the really good TrackMaster speed fig achieved in the most recent contest. MUSCLES ALL OVER - This nice horse looks very good. Look at the 63 average speed rating. It's tricky to consider based only on class, but this colt has among the most favorable class ratings of the grouping. NUMBERS GAME - Baillargeon fits this standardbred's style perfectly. They've enjoyed some solid results when working with one another. Positively will improve with the equipment change, second time hoppled today.

# 5 BEST SAID 5/2

# 1 LORD OF MISRULE 2/1

# 4 CARD SHOCK 9/2

Hey, listen up! BEST SAID is the smart play if you like to win. Worth a look here on the basis of the markings in the speed fig department alone. He has respectable class rankings, averaging 86. Should be considered for a bet for this one. Brennan fits this nice horse's style perfectly. They've enjoyed some terrific results when working their magic together. LORD OF MISRULE - Running solidly, recorded a sharp speed figure in his most recent contest (86). When starting from the 1 position, an above average win percentage has resulted. CARD SHOCK - The 4 post is on fire here at Yonkers Raceway. More wins than normal.

Mohawk: Monday 7/21 Analysis
By Greg Gangle

DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: HAPPY BECKY (7th)

Spot Play: HEMI SEELSTER (3rd)

Race 1

(8) PARTY ON THE RIVER comes from the McNair barn, shows quick speed and may offer a price based on his miscue last week. (6) DON JARVIS finished third at first asking last week and has been finishing off his miles very well. (9) MANDEVILLE received a terrific steer from Mackenzie in his winning debut and is capable of overcoming post 10.

Race 2

(3) STORMONT WIZARD draws inside and was a closing second in his career debut. (6) GREAT MAGIC qualified sharply at Harrah's Philadelphia and comes from good connections. (8) CHUCKALO EVAN closed off his mile very well last start and should improve and provide a price.

Race 3

(2) HEMI SEELSTER draws inside, won at first asking last week and comes from the Bax barn. (1) CALL ME RICHARD draws inside, won last start in this class and has excellent gate-speed. (3) BENVENUTI is fresh off a win, has gate-speed and can only improve off last week's effort.

Race 4

(7) BUDDYS HOPE comes from the Puddy barn, has a terrific overall record this season and is due for win. (10) LITTLE QUICK won last week in this class, enters the Fellows barn off the claim and hasn't missed the board in four of his last five starts. (3) LOST IN PANSLATION draws inside, has excellent gate-speed and likely will offer a low price.

Race 5

(4) GAME ON HANOVER had a credible rookie campaign, draws well in here and qualified well in her most recent. (8) AMERICAN SUPERMAN has been knocking on the door as of late and shows the speed for this maiden class. (9) KD BELLA doesn't like to win, but has a good record this season and it's hard not to consider for the triactor.

Race 6

(3) NUMBERS GAME won his career debut last start for team Baillargeon and is very capable of doubling up. (2) MUSCLES ALL OVER has terrific gate-speed, draws inside and has proven to be a top threat at this Grassroots level. (1) REBEL REBEL gets the rail in his favour, qualified well and comes from the Henriksen barn.

Race 7

(4) HAPPY BECKY is a perfect one-for-one to start her career and Coleman's barn has been on fire with her young horses this season. (7) ASADA HANOVER provided a price last week as she finished a game third. She can only improve off that effort. (9) ENNISTYMON won her qualifier at ease in a speedy time and might offer a fair price.

Race 8

(6) ANGELS KID comes from the McNair barn, finished a game third last week in his career debut and moves back onto this circuit. (1) BAUDRON raced very well in his career debut in a speedy time and gets the rail. (3) THE GREAT BAMBINO comes from the Jones barn, which can't be overlooked and has excellent gate-speed.

Race 9

(2) TAROT has the speed, comes from good connections and should improve on the return to this circuit. (4) JAYPORT ALL MUSCLE draws inside and missed last week in his career debut as the favourite. (8) RORY likely will offer a price and should improve off last week's effort. He comes from good connections and has breeding in his favour.

Race 10

(2) PIERCE HANOVER provided the minor upset last start and showed a quick final quarter. He can only improve off that effort in his young career. (4) AMORA BEACH comes from the Menary barn and hasn't missed the board in two starts this season. (5) SOME POWER has terrific breeding and connections in his favour. He's a must-have on the triactor ticket.

Race 11

(5) NIRVANA SEELSTER finished third in the Summertime Series, draws well and is a top threat in this class. (4) ALLSTAR SEELSTER shows quick speed, comes from the Darling barn and is capable of a rebound effort. (9) SHADOW PLACE closed well last week in the Canadian Breeders and faces a much easier field.

Yonkers: Monday 7/21 Analysis
By Matt Rose

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 207 - 612 / $1082.80 BEST BETS: 36 - 50 / $116.50

Best Bet: DREAM BALL (4th)

Spot Play: DUKES UP (3rd)

Race 1

(5) FOX VALLEY LEO drops in class in his second local start and he meets a very weak field; camera-shy type didn't race that badly versus better. (1) DVC GIVERMEATTITUDE draws best and raced well two back. (4) BEAU RIVAGE N has seen better days but he's still capable of getting the job done.

Race 2

(5) SPACED OUT broke last week but had shown good speed prior; another chance. (8) THE WAY I AM has taken two straight since his arrival but the eight hole may be too much to overcome tonight. (1) EMBRACE PEACE may improve with the change in venue.

Race 3

(4) DUKES UP drops back to the level of the claim off a no-chance effort and he should be rearing to go from this spot. (3) ARTS BLAZE rarely wins but he's thrown in some good efforts from time to time. (5) MASTER STROKE takes a needed drop in class.

Race 4

(5) DREAM BALL gets a big driver change to Bartlett tonight and that can make all the difference. (7) FLYING NUN has been second best in her two local appearances but she has little early speed which may make her journey difficult. (1) KELADI BLUE CHIP draws best upon arrival and she can grab a share.

Race 5

(8) COLUMBIA LION has ability but needs to stay flat. Garcia-Herrera trainee meets a field with question marks and he can be good value from this spot. (1) FLASHBACK drops in class and draws best; logical. (6) HARDROCKENJESSICA has had her moments here in the past.

Race 6

(5) ALWAYS A FLYIN was super in defeat two weeks ago then was a transportation scratch in last week's monsoon; three-year-old is definitely worth a play here. (1) GREAT AMERICAN raced very gamely in defeat for his new connections and he draws best here. (2) RICKY BLUE EYES should be in line for another live trip.

Race 7

(3) WATERSIDE CHAMP debuts for new connections after being hard used last out; worth a look in this competitive event. (4) BACK TO THE WEST raced well in defeat in last to a classy winner. (5) KID CRUISER can almost always be counted on for a share.

Race 8

(5) BEST SAID returns to Yonkers and raced huge in his two local appearances. (1) LORD OF MISRULE exits a solid effort at Pocono and certainly is logical from this spot. (2) BARBARIAN hails from Takter; enough said.

Race 9

(4) JANINNE had no chance last week from post eight snapping her win streak; the move back inside can help her cause. (2) SOUTHWIND ILLUSION wasn't bad in her local debut and she can show more tonight. (6) CAROBBEAN PACETRY went a big trip for the upset in last.

Race 10

(8) BREATHTAKING steps up in class and draws the eight hole yet still looks like the one to beat. (5) FASTER FASTER hasn't put in a bad effort in some time. (4) SENTIMENTAL LADY was overmatched in her last two; this is the right level.

Race 11

(1) PAMS LEGACY has put in three good efforts since the Sabot claim, inclusing a rugged uncovered try last out. The post relief should get him over the top tonight. (2) CLEM rallied stoutly in last at a big price. (6) CASHENDASH HANOVER was an interesting claim and he's worth a look but he's got some tough ones inside of him tonight.

Race 12

(2) AMERICAN RAGE has loads of class to him and this looks like a prime spot to get back on the winning track. (2) MISSISSIPPI HIPPY was a good second last out to a rival that went a huge trip. (7) YO CHEYENNE ROCKY has raced well with this type in the past; maybe he can spice up the exotics tonight.
